****CHECK THEIR FACEBOOK before heading over to the address on YELP. It will show where they will be located.****I've been meaning to push out this review since visiting this food truck on July 4th on Smithfield. The art displayed on the truck is eye catching, and that made me gravitate towards it in addition to the fried food smells lol. There was a long line, but moving quickly as the menu options were limited. Turns out The Black Pearl travels to breweries, communities, and events. There is no set location they are stationed at so it's best to follow them on Facebook or even check out their website theblackpearlfoodtruck.com. It should have their scheduled updated events and their number if your interested in booking them.Back to the experience. I ordered the fried shrimp basket with fries. The young girl handed me a buzzer, and the hubs and I waited about 10-15 minutes. Not bad considering they were inundated with orders. Once my hand felt the vibration from the buzzer indicating my order was ready for pickup, I excitedly walked over and brought it over to the car. I Immediately dug in. My order had about 5-6 large, fat juicy shrimp. They were plump and fresh, with a hint of sweetness. The coating was a bit thin and flimsy. It slid right off within the first bite. The Cajun spices on the batter were wonderful and flavorful. The fries were limp, soft, but hot. I believe with all the orders they had it was hard for quality control having only one cook man the fryer.Overall we would definitely order from them again! They offer fried catfish, scallops, po boys, and soft tacos all made to order. Quality Seafood from a truck focused on the peninsula. Check them out! Support local food trucks!
