The BBQ Shack

We stopped by here for some BBQ on our drive home from the Outer Banks. It was worth the few miles out of our way to try this place.My wife had the Bangin BBQ platter and I had the beef BBQ platter. Both had an excellent smoked flavor and various sauces paired well for each plate. Tender and juicy. The sides we had were the cole slaw, sweet potato and mac and cheese. You cannot go wrong with any of those.The service was friendly and fast. We sat out on their small deck and enjoyed our lunches.This was the perfect stop for lunch to break up a long drive.

Basic bbq but not near as good as someOf the other places in town. Mac and cheese 4 stars, baked beans 3 stars, corn bread would have been 5 stars but the bottom was soggy in the to go container.

Food is always delicious & hot. Great value for combo platter. Wonderful mom & pop place. Such a good following that they can afford to be open for only 10-2 on weekdays, closed on weekends. They probably need the shortened hours to rest, because they are busy!

I saw this place mentioned on Yelp's Top 50 in Coastal Virginia and decided to finally give it a try! Didn't realize it is so close to where I work! Prices are very reasonable, and my BBQ Platter was delicious! The cornbread was the bomb! I did have to wait a bit but the food came out fresh and hot! The employee who runs the window was awesome, very friendly and engaging! Definitely going to go back again soon during my lunch break or maybe to get a pound to go for dinner!

Solid bbq nothing fancy quick good short wait options are good for both lean and fatty beef pork was good sides were so so

Never disappoints! Love being able to go to a local Barbecue! Drive up, park, order, and go! Great service! Family business you can trust!

Great food great prices nice family friend environment can take a while but worth the wait

I had lunch here a couple of weeks ago on a weekday arriving early at 11:00 a.m. They open at 10:00 a.m. Walking in I noticed they had no restrooms here and I wanted to wash my hands. The only option was a container of hand sanitizer on the counter. I used it but noticed that it was very diluted and wasn't sure as to its effectiveness. I ordered a MacDaddy brisket sandwich which is their largest at 6 oz. I added baked beans and cole slaw for sides with a drink. While waiting for my food which was only about 5 minutes, I noticed that this restaurant has limited seating both inside and out under the front patio. When the food arrived I went outside to eat. The sandwich was very good. Very good bread bun and meat. Quality taste for sure and I graded the sandwich at a 4. The beans were a 4.5 and the cole slaw a 4. I really enjoyed this meal and quickly determined that they know how to make very good BBQ here. I understand and agree with it's high ratings. They close most days by 5 p.m. Also the food here is reasonably priced.

The BEST BBQ in Hampton Roads for an affordable price.....I would recommend them to anyone.

Exactly what it says a BBQ shack.... Actually a converted house with limited outdoor seating on a tiny front porch and a closed dining room. Weird place.
