The Bay Inn

Stay here. There's plenty of chains up & down Oceanview, but they add on charges and can be gross. This place set me up in a nice room where I wasn't afraid to touch anything. They open to a sweet little courtyard, which makes this Inn seem more private than others.

I had made a reservation to help out a friend & the the guy @ the front desk was very rude & not helpful @ all. I was out of town so couldn't be present to help my friend & told her for call if there is was an issue. He wasn't understanding or patient at all when I was on the phone. He said he didn't have time for this & that my reservations were canceled. He obviously didn't care to make any money.

So, my girlfriend and I were lucky enough to have wonderful grandparents in the area who were willing to get us set up in a hotel, since I have never been to the beach before. I knew something was off when I called the day prior just to check if our reservation was all taken care of. The host of this Inn was very rude on the phone when I was trying to get information on when to clock in. Being unfamiliar with the area it is common for me to seek advice from locals on what to do, simply asking the manchild of a host where a car wash was located was enough to irritate him. There was evidently conflict my girlfriend and I were not aware of, where the host took her grandfathers information, stored it and did not use it when we arrived, so he is willing to take information but unwilling to use it when it came to the day of check-in. Fair warning to anyone looking to set someone else in the area, don't do it. We were supposed to stay for three nights, we went to the beach (it was fun), we came back and as we were getting ready to clean up we heard a knock by the host telling us he had no rooms for us and we needed to leave the next day. My girlfriend and I cleaned up, approached him respectfully and said we would be willing to just leave now, my girlfriend said she did not feel safe after the confrontation, he replied with "good, I am glad you don't feel safe." Great guy huh? I said I was not looking for conflict and tried to turn in the keycards. He retorted against me over the pettiest thing about me calling and showing up early. As I was leaving I said expect a one star review. The guy came out and started harassing us saying "you think your one star review will effect me? Why don't you get your ghetto ass off my property". Well guy, I will let people who read this and see your decrepit p.o.s, run down love motel be the deciding factor of that. I do not think you need to do anything other than just call and listen to the mans tone on the phone, if he reads this and thinks he can fix it by changing into a more polite guy, take this as a truly severe warning. This man does not deserve your money, use it elsewhere. We were lucky enough to have family in the area we can stay with, others may not be so lucky. You have been warned. I left the same review on TripAdvisor and am expecting the salty manchild of a manager to post a fictional description trying to justify his actions just like he does with everyone else who is honest about how nuts he actually is. If you want to know who you are going to be dealing with, read all of the one star reviews on tripadvisor and look in the comment section, he attacks everyone who calls him out on his B.S. Had this been a one off occurrence I would not bother even posting this but, he has been incredibly rude, forceful, insulting and nearly assaulting to previous guests, he says they would not be in business as long as they have been if these reviews were true. Bud, you're only in business because you are near a beach, you are not in business because you deserve the business. Karma will bite you hard one day.

Spent the weekend for business. The rooms were clean and recently remodeled. The location was great and the owner was awesome. Courtyard was great. Will stay again.

DONT BOOK HERE I needed a simple room for one night.I tried to book a room as I work near the area. I asked to see the room which the man at the from desk; let me. They took a copy of my identity and they proceeded with the process of booking. They told me the ground rules such as no pets and smoking.I don't smoke but I was coming along with a friend who occasionally does. I told the owner we would follow the rules. Everything was fine till he came following me into the parking lot and with a very harsh tone; told me he had bad feelings about dealing with me and he wouldn't let us stay.This really shocked me as I was in my work scrubs and had a name tag. I had no idea what I had done. In my opinion, this is a very bad place to go to especially if the owner racially profiles guests.I did not see anyone upon my walk in this place, nor did I speak to this man's wife. I am so shocked he has twisted the entire narrative. He respond to some of my reviews saying I spoke to guests and his wife badly. Which is a lie. I simply walked in and tried to make a booking, he asked me questions regarding my partner and smoking. I told him we would follow the rules. He seemed to agree as he went on to make a copy of my ID. As soon as I left he and his wife may have discussed me and he came out running and yelling at me for no reason, telling me that he doesn't trust me and he wont want to go ahead with the booking. CAREFUL OF THIS MAN, HE NEEDS TO BE EXPOSED. You dont belong in hospitality. Look up more bad reviews they are identical to my expierence. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND READ ON THE ONE RATINGS.

Don't stay here. Front desk guy is rude, erratic and racist. Cancels bookings for no reason and will leave you stuck.

Place outside is dated but our room was great! They updated the floor and tile in the bathroom. It is non smoking, and honestly that's one of the reasons I picked it. I HATE going into a room and smelling stale smoke. The owner was super nice and helped us with directions to the beach which is right across the street. Great location near beach, zoo and downtown. The room had a mini fridge, microwave and small coffee maker.

Owner has cameras all over the property and in the rooms. The rooms are non smoking but he will accuse you of smoking in the room he smells it on you. So if you go outside and smoke and smell like smoke when you come back in the room....you smoked I his room‍‍. He is rude and vulgar to certain people and if you read his bad reviews you will see his targets. He put me my wife and my newborn baby out because my wife smelled like smoke coming back into room after he seen her go out in parking lot and smoked.

Place is run down and old for the amount of money you pay. The coffee maker still had months old coffee in it. They did not clean it at all. Wifi doesn't work. The front desk guy and his wife are very loud and rude. I recommend don't stay here and choose some place that's actually clean.

Extremely rude, capricious & threatening front desk guy. He canceled my reservation via phone the day before my scheduled stay stating he did not like my attitude & that I was rude after I corrected him about the number of people in my party. He stated I could find somewhere else to stay & I later found he had placed my name on a "do not service" list. Luckily I found a better place to stay a mile away. After settling into my hotel, I consulted the local police because I wanted to go by The Bay Inn to discuss what had happened. I was advised to go & call 911 if I felt threatened. Sure enough, I went to the Inn & asked for the manager. Rude front desk guy said he was manager & refused to give his name. He stood up, pointed his finger in my face and in a threatening manner demanded I leave his private property before he called the police. I said go ahead because that's exactly what police advised me to do. I left, drove a few yards away & called 911 to report his threat. As I drove away, I saw he had come outside and was mockingly saying "bye-bye" with a foolish grin on his face. Don't book a stay at The Bay Inn. Norman Bates comes to mind! [I am actually giving "No stars" -- who needs this kind of toxic encounter.]
