The Barrel II

We just moved to Portsmouth and noticed this little spot one day.New Years eve came around we really weren't in the mood for a big club or spending a bunch of money to get in somewhere, so we decided to give the Barrel a shot.A small place, but packed with friendly people. Walked up to the bar area, we were greeted with a hello and a smile. Ordered our drinks and luckily some one just left so we got a table on new years eve. !! Everyone we meet was very friendly, even the person I bumped into and spilt his beer ( sorry ) They had Karaoke which always adds a certain amount of fun.We didn't how ever eat anything on this trop but we will be back Prices were good.Just a good local Pub

Came here on a Thursday night looking for food since everything else in the area was closed. Was pleasantly surprised to walk in on karaoke night. We ordered drinks, wings & pizza. I wouldn't order the pizza again but the karaoke show made up for everything the pizza was lacking. The bar tenders were both lovely & chatty & gave us the low down on the schedule for the week. Will definitely be back for the wings & good time.

This is definitely a locals bar with a fun and friendly atmosphere. We were there specifically to hear the band. There are lots of tv's, a big bar and tables and some electronic dart boards. This is the kind of place that everyone knows your name. Loved it. We had good service - maybe a tad slow but they were getting busy and she was training someone. We ordered the teriyaki wings and chicken basket. My husband said the wings were really good. And they were big and juicy. Another couple joined us and we shared and they said the same thing. No less then orders of 10. The chicken basket was just ok. The fries were cold and the chicken a bit overdone. The prices were reasonable too. I didn't feel like anything was overpriced. And they have a HH until 7. I think it's drinks only. No food specials....but I could be wrong. If you like a good, locals bar then stop in. Nothing fancy. I think my husband and I will be returning again.

I recently ordered from The Barrel 2 and ordered a burger, but unfortunately, my experience was not great. Firstly, the burger was incredibly small. I mean, it was so small that it looked like a slider. I felt like I needed a magnifying glass to find it. I understand portion control, but this was just ridiculous.To make matters worse, the burger was also undercooked. I asked for it to be cooked well done. but when I took a bite, it was still pink and raw in the middle. Overall, I was disappointed with my meal. I hope the restaurant can improve its portion sizes and cooking techniques in the future.

Great Wings and Burgers! Definitely recommend. Everything tasted great and the service was wonderful! The place was pretty chill and looked like it could be a lot of fun.

Well just bless the heart of my hotel concierge who said I would have no reason to come out in this direction. Turns out there was a local rockabilly band playing at this bar during my trip, and I prioritize live music above most things, so this is where I came.The band was fantastic. Even better were the regulars who welcomed me like I had been coming there for years. I got to learn a bit about the history of the bar, and meet the husband and wife duo who own the joint. I am so sorry I didn't make it for the party the next evening - congrats from NY 6 months later! Better late than never I hope ;)Their wings are tender and juicy, and they have these high proof jello shots which are risky but delicious. Worth a visit if you're seeking a live act or a chill night with some locals.

70 South was playing, so we made the trek from Yorktown to experience once again this fun and friendly place! A couple of excellent walk-ons joined the band and also played and sang when the band took a break. We already feel like regulars here. A sweet customer was having a birthday and she was serenaded with Happy Birthday by the entire bar! And our server remembered our order from our last visit! So happy that 70 South introduced us to The Barrel II !!

This place is a hidden gem. The ambiance was very warm and welcoming, the food was absolutely delicious (and the pricing was very affordable, definitely get more bang for your buck here). The price on drinks is some of the best around. The owners are very friendly too. Will definitely be back and highly recommend everyone check out and support this gem of a small business.
