This place is surprisingly amazing. I've seen it a lot driving by, but it doesn't look like much from the outside. If it weren't for me seeing a Yelp review I wouldn't have even stopped in. My favorite sandwich of all time is a Cuban and theirs is perfection. the meat was flavorful and tender, and the pickles. Sooooo gooood. My daughter got an Al pastor taco and a chicken empanada. The guac sauce it came with was so good. The restaurant is clean and as people were leaving their tables, the staff was actively cleaning. The girl helping us was so sweet and friendly. Great place. 10/10

Fun atmosphere with wall decorations of bright chalk.Ate rolled tacos plate. Fresh not burnt tacos covered with cheese lettuce avocados and salsa. Reminded me of places in California.

Wednesday afternoon with the wife restaurant wasn't very busy. Ordered fries, horchata, a shrimp, pork, and chicken empanadas. Two Al Pastor Taco$2.75 Tender marinated pork cooked on trompo (rotating split) and two Carne Asada Taco $2.75 Seasoned grilled steak. The tacos are very Mexican authentic not American style so you might be surprised. The fries were great and the empanadas hot and fresh. The surprising part of the empanadas was the shrimp, which I was very suspect of was the best one. They were great. I would get three of them next time with nothing else except fries and the horchata which was perfect. The beef was good. The chicken was kind of bland, no spice little dry. It's a nice place I would go back and try their Cuban sandwich which looks pretty good, although a little pricey.Give it a try. Cheers!

Such a unique establishment in Elizabeth City. It's almost like inexpensive comfort food that you can find from an amazing food truck but in a restaurant! It's like a Mexican Picnic the way the portions of the foods are served. Makes it so fun! The staff are super friendly, family-oriented, very observant, and managed very well. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. Great ambiance for sure! We have any everything from their tacos, to their quesidellas, to their Cuban sandwich, empanadas, and more. Exceptional service and again options from food to soft drinks are wonderful. We really enjoy this place. Especially when you do not want to get heavily involved in a typical Mexican restaurant. But, the flavors are so much more different in a desirable way and comforting!

While looking for ideas post-appointment for our daughter, we stumbled upon this charming mom & pop joint. It perfectly fit the bill, so much so that my husband has made two return trips just for their delightful empanadas. Admittedly, for a petite establishment, it leans towards the pricier side, but the sandwiches are colossal, and in our culinary opinion, worth every cent. We indulged in both the Chicken & Beef empanadas, reminiscent of our homemade delights. Opting for the Pernil and Cuban sandwiches, accompanied by our daughter's cheese quesadilla and fries, we found the absence of rice as a side option a tad disappointing. While the lack of a soda machine adds a touch extra to your check since you have to buy individual bottled drinks, still we're eyeing their specialty drinks for our next visit. Personally, I'd rate it a commendable 4/5, while my husband insists on a resounding 5/5. The hospitality we received was amazing. Without hesitation, we recommend a visit to savor their offerings.

I ordered the shrimp empanada, a lengua taco, and a carne assda taco. The empanada was excellent. There was a lot of shrimp, and it was cheesy. The lengua taco was bland. The meat tasted waterlogged. The carne asada taco had little crumbles of beef and grilled onions. I thought I would like the grilled onions, but they were too sweet. I know this restaurant is a Mexican, Puerto Rican fusion restaurant, but they should have an option to just have raw onions and cilantro instead of grilled onions on the carne asada tacos. As a native Californian, I am always looking for good authentic Mexican food in the area. They are few and hard to come by.

I love this restaurant. Today we went for lunch and they have full service dining now which was exciting. Service was friendly as always and we were of course brought chips and fresh salsa right away! We were given new menus that included the specials on them! We ordered the Bori Bowl and the Flautas with a shrimp empanada on the side. They always give large portions with all the toppings and sauces! The Flautas are my favorite and come with four tightly rolled tortillas filled with delicious chicken are served topped with lots of fresh lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream and a guacamole sauce. They are always crispy, delicious and filling. The Bori Bowl is epic as always filled with rice, beans, your choice of meat, topped with lots of crispy tortilla strips! This was the first time ordering the shrimp empanada and it was crispy, hot and filled with queso and well seasoned shrimp, I loved this almost as much as the chicken empanada. We love it everytime we come here and recommend anything they serve.

If y'all have been sleeping on Taqueria El Bori, you better wake up and go get you some! Located in the Belk shopping center, this new authentic taqueria will not disappoint you. It's taken me this long to finally try them since they opened over summer and I've eaten there twice in a week! I've had the chance to try their al pastor tacos, carne asada tacos, and my personal favorite, their shrimp empanadas. Their salsas and sauces are out of this world, and I especially enjoyed their spicy guac. The decor inside is super cute and the staff is super friendly and helpful. They have a wide array of glass bottle sodas, agua frescas, and desserts! I didn't manage to catch a picture of the menu, but they also have quesadillas, loaded fries, and sandwiches(including a Cuban!). Anyways, go support this awesome local business. They deserve every ounce of your business and your taste buds will thoroughly thank you!
