Tap House Grill At Ghent

Great spot for fantastic I.P.A.'s and entertainment. This is a spot is very important to the Norfolk punk scene. I didn't get to sample the food this time, but we are definitely coming back. Very good service. It's a very nice area tucked away. More people need to experience this wonderful place. Finally a decent venue to hear and play music!Thank you for supporting the local music scene.

The food here is good, every single time I've come. The drink prices are great also. I don't know why I don't come here more often! My best friend spends a lot of time in here, so I join him every so often.The service when I've been has been bar* service/late night only, so you have to go to the bar to order (which is totally fine with me!). It's a cool vibe, and I really enjoy going here!

Tons of vegan options and cool people! Great music and very walkable area definitely worth the stop. Prices are good and portions are large!

First there is a national shortage of baby formula and now the vegan/vegetarian option of veggie spring rolls is unavailable at Taphouse!! When they have the spring rolls, they are hot, plentiful, and crispy. I drove here expressly for them. My husband is a fan of their seafood pasta bowl. Guess what? They don't sell that anymore either. Welp, at least they still have the fried pickles with the kick ass dipping sauce...Nope! They are gone off the menu now too. The supply and demand issues rears its ugly head and Taphouse is feeling the brunt of its pain. We ended up with a Caesar salad and a mushroom basil bowl.Not my intended meal, but the bowl was flavorful and the bursts of basil was a nice touch. The Caesar salad was..well, lettuce, shaved parm and croutons. It was safe. I added faux chicken for an additional $4, but it wasn't memorable. It wasn't bad either--it was "salad-y"I think I can with my heart (and taste buds) set for spring rolls and when I couldn't get that, trying to wrap my taste buds around an alternate meal was anticlimactic. I won't say I will not return; I will call call first next time to see is they have what I want.

I frequently go to The Taphouse Grill for shows. Usually every other week or so for over a year. The music is loud, the place is packed, and the bartenders still manage to do an awesome job serving people quickly and accurately. I have never had an issue or seen anyone have an issue in the probably two dozen times I have been there. They are all very nice. They also remembered mine name in the first visit or two, making running a tab while loud music was playing a lot easier. The food is great as well. Oh my god, they changed the menu. Haha.

I'm going to leave a review of 5 STARS, and I have not been here yet, but I read the reviews and some of the first lines. All establishments run out of items, but there are plenty to choose from. I can imagine the food here is excellent, it's a TAPHOUSE, yes indeedy! It's in Ghent, must be some type of flavor in the atmosphere and the ambiance. The other reviews gave me a reason to stop in!

Let's take a minute to talk about the Tap House Grill. Today, I'm going to focus in on just the beverage side of things... although I saw a chicken sandwich going out that looked absolutely fabulous. So, I bet you didn't know that this spot has one of Ghent's all-time best craft mixologists in Mark. I typically don't use that term. Mixologist. Usually, those who refer to themselves thusly suffer from delusions of grandeur. In this case? It's 100% deserved. If you want to have a delicious drink -- and I mean delicious in every way -- go see Mark at the Taphouse. Recently, I dropped in to see what was up after work, which in this case, coincided with the end of a brutal stretch of work. I'm guessing I looked tired. So, I told Mark to surprise me. He handed me a beverage known as Coffee! Coffee! Coffee! And... it delivered on every level. It was delicious. I'll have dreams about this drink if I ever again sleep. Also, if you haven't been to Tap House in a while, you need to return. The owners have poured their heart and soul into this place, and it looks fantastic. I'll add another review for the food, which again, looks delicious, once I get around to ordering food. But for now, suffice it to say that they have one of the best makers of craft cocktails in the 757, slinging drinks from behind the bar. Cheers!

The karaoke guy was very rude. I put in two older and popular pop songs. They didn't have them, which is fine. but I was on stage, he told me he didn't have my first song and he was going to play my second. The song that started playing was not my song. I told him and he seemed annoyed, turned it off, and said well you're going to have to pick a third song. I struggled to come up with one immediately, and he said "is that too hard for you? You can just go later..." with a condescending and mean attitude. After a long wait for my 2 songs. singing in front of people is tough, even drunk. Both my songs were unavailable; and he ridiculed me for not having a third song at the tip of my tongue ... he skipped several of my friends songs too and when we tried to politely ask about it he was rude again saying "too bad" I guess you have to come back later. It's okay if our songs are not available but to be rude and make us look like it's our fault somehow was very uncomfortable. Left the bar pretty upset after having spent plenty of time and money there.

The burgers are great! Seasoned well too. The fried mushrooms and tater tots are a local favorite, and I see why. Delicious. Ashleigh was super nice and took great care of us. This place is a must try. I'll be back!

This past Saturday, June 1, we were truly disappointed that although the published hours of operation state that the restaurant opens at 4pm...NO ONE was there! We waited patiently for well over 30 minutes along with several other hungry customers...looked in the windows and there was NO sign of life! We all ended up leaving and going elsewhere. If the hours have changed, then PUBLISH it.
