Oh my. WOW. This is my FAVORITE new find on the OBX. Locally owned makes it even better. We stopped by here after dinner one night this week. It did NOT disappoint! This place is self-serve. When you come in one of the employees will direct you where to start. You grab a bowl, or whatever you're getting, and pile on whatever you want. The price you pay is based on the weight. They also have ice cream sandwiches that are divine. The Walk The Plank is my favorite so far. We bought 12 (you get one free that way) -- they put them in a box and we took them home. Lots of room in here to sit if you like. They also have their own merch. My advice is to skip dessert if you're eating lunch/dinner out, and just come here instead. You will not be disappointed!

Yummy ice cream! They have soft serve and you can add topping yourself. YouMust try the cookie ice cream sandwiches...truly amazing! The setting is really pretty as well. Don't let the long line scare you, it moves quickly!

Our group of 4 stopped in after having dinner nearby. We all really wanted an ice cream treat and Surfin' Spoon was high on the list of places to try while in the OBX.We arrived, were greeted at the door then got in the very long line.We selected our cups and picked from an assortment of soft serve flavors then added toppings around the corner. We paid then grabbed a table outside. We waited about 25 minutes from joining the line to enjoying our treats.We all thought the soft serve was decent but nothing special. The flavors were mild and none of them really stood out. It was just like every other "fro-yo" spot. They did have a nice selection of toppings and I enjoyed the outdoor seating.Overall, I thought it was overhyped and not worth the longer wait times. If you are looking for basic soft serve, give them a try.

Love Surfin' spoon! Delicious soft serve and amazing ice cream sandwiches! Seriously don't leave without trying one of the ice cream sandwiches. I recommend the lemon lavberry. Plus they offer vegan and gluten free options. The flavors are posted and you can mix and match. Choose your flavors (self-serve) and then your toppings. The line can get long, but it moves fairly quickly. If you don't have time to wait you can skip the line and purchase an ice cream sandwich. Then sit outside in the beautiful sun and enjoy the delicious ice cream. Leave money in the wall if desired and they donate it to a local charity, Surfing for Autism.

Great little spot, we came around 4:30 pm and was very easy to get through, line I'm sure can take awhile at busy times especially if customers are indecisive at the self service stations. Their shirts and merch area is adorable, too!

Great ice cream shop! Best part is they have puppy ice cream! Staff was very friendly and I loved how much indoor and outdoor seating they had. This made it super roomy and everything was very clean. They have a large selection of ice cream and different toppings. They also have different pints that you can buy to go. Great place for a quick dessert, definitely worth going to!

During our visit to Naga Head we stopped in two separate times for the great ice cream sandwiches. First visit I got the vegan mint chocolate and my husband got the classic chocolate chip cookie with vanilla. I preferred his chocolate chip cookie texture to the mint which was a little less chewy. On the second visit I tried the Macaroon and Pistachio while my husband tried the vegan chocolate chocolate. Again his was soft and chewy while the macaroon cookie was a bit disappointing. The macaroon cookie was too hard and there wasn't enough pistachio flavor in the ice cream so all I tasted was coconut. So I highly recommend going with the classic chocolate chip cookie or the chocolate cookie with chocolate ice cream. Warming it gets crowded during the summer. Both visit there was not enough parking so cars had to wait on the road. Once you got a parking spot the line for frozen yogurt was sometimes out the door. On rainy nights, the entire and covered space is limited for dining there.

Good ice cream, TONS of toppings, and sweet service! First time here and it was delicious! It seems that the flavors change daily and they had about 7 the evening we visited. The variety of toppings is extensive and everyone should be able to find a topping to put on their ice cream. The store is massive with seating inside as well as seating on the porch.

If you are visiting OBX - swing by Surfin' Spoon. Staff are friendly and the decor is modern chic (Cali vibe). I love the money you see all around the establishment...place a quarter or dollar and it will be donated to Surfin' for Autism :) They have seating indoor, outdoor and a few parking spaces. They have their homemade sammie's (ice scream sandwiches/vegan and non vegan). Their self serve yogurt/custard are delicious and they have a good selections of toppings. They are really organized with line management (so it won't get too crazy) but you will be waiting - well worth it.

Surfin' Spoon was delicious! We came twice while on our vacation! (I could have easily visited everyday) The decor was exactly my kind of vibe-beachy and relaxed. The first day, I got a large bowl with lots of yummy toppings and we also tried an icecream sandwich. The sandwich was my favorite! The cookies were so soft and tasty. I can back a few days later just for the sandwiches. My favorite flavor was the salted pretzel. I also love how this business donates money to charity and local schools. We will definitely return next time we are in town!
