Sunset Ice Cream

I've been coming here for over 15 years, and its consistently remained my favorite ice cream spot in OBX. Great milkshakes, decadent frozen coffees, delicious flavor choices. The boardwalk sound view doesn't hurt either!

This little ice cream window has basic options like cones and sundaes with a variety of classic toppings. For me, the best part was the gorgeous view of the sound and sunset!

They serve homemade scoop ice cream and their cones are huge and thick, so decide if you can handle that with the rich ice cream! I tried the cookie dough which has huge chunks of cookie dough- always a good idea. The cookies and cream also has generous chunks.

Awesome ice cream. The shakes, smoothies and iced coffees are delicious. This small ice cream store is right on the boardwalk and has a great view during the evening, hence the name "sunset". A good place for a cold treat.

Having a birthday scoop of ice cream! Yummy hand dipped ice cream & milkshakes & smoothies. A little spendy ($3 for a single scoop, $1 extra for a special cone) but a nice way to cap off a visit to the boardwalk. It can get crowded due to the location.

Staff is not friendly. Poor experience for many patrons trying to get ice cream. Staff was idiotic. Outdoor ordering. Outdoor pickup only

Always good! Crowded at typical times but never a disappointment. If you switch up your evening and do dessert first you can grab one of the small tables on the water while everyone else is at dinner.

Sunset ice cream is really the only ice cream place in duck. There is always a long line by it moves fast because the staff is on their A-game with efficiency. There isn't anything super special about the ice cream shop but the fact that it's right on the water makes it a little more fun.

Really good ice cream and thick milk shakes. Efficient service. Can't beat a sweat treat while taking in a beautiful sunset on the boardwalk next to the sound. The only thing keeping this from a 5 star were the low grade straws that made it difficult to drink a thick milkshake. My kids liked the 8 pm baby shark dance contest. Winners got a coupon for free ice cream.

Came all the way out to get ice-cream. Their hours are supposed to be open until 9:30pm. Came out at 9:15pm and there were about 10 people also going to get some and the shop was closed up early with no explanation. They lost 10+ people's business tonight and for future visits to Duck.
