Sunset Grill

I stopped here for lunch as I was in the area. I sat in the bar side, and wasn't immediately greeted. After a few minutes, the bartender noticed me and asked if I had been helped. She then called the server to come to my table. I decided on the chicken salad sandwich, based on the good reviews. I asked my server which of the sides she'd recommend and she suggested the pasta salad. The sandwich came out on toasted sourdough, which was kind of dry and crumbly. The sandwich and the pasta salad were just ok. The pasta salad had a strong red pepper taste. The server never came over to see how my food was. All in all, it was ok, not someplace I'd go out of my way to revisit.

Friends and I went there for lunch and we all had a really great time. Our server, Donna, was extremely friendly and very quick to get our orders to us. The menu offers plenty of options to please just about everyone. I can highly recommend the Santa Fe Turkey Wrap. It was packed with turkey and the French fries were perfectly done. The atmosphere is very casual and roomy. This place is definitely worth the drive!

Summary: Highly recommend and will eat here again. Order the Cheddar Cheeseburger!Our Server, Raleigh, was on point and helpful!Building was clean and comfortable. Details: Traveling through VA we found a GEM that has ruined us when it comes to hamburgers! (Don't think I'll be able to eat another burger for a while without dreaming about this one.) Butch ordered a Cheeseburger with cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Hands down the best tasting cheeseburger we've ever had. I'm not sure how the meat was flavored but I saved the last bite till the end since I order the steamed shrimp. Butch helped me eat the shrimp and they were good, perfectly cooked and large. However when we stop by the Sunset Grill again, I'm definitely grabbing a burger.We saw wings and salads go by to other customers and they looked great and smelled wonderful. Our server, Raleigh, made some recommendations but also said that everything is good so you can't make a bad choice. I totally believe her, just depends on what you are in the mood for. I rarely rate establishments a 5 star but considering that I'm hoping that we get to eat at the Sunset Grill again in the near future, it has to be a 5. The atmosphere was light and fun. Nice interior without being stuffy. If I lived nearby, I'm afraid I'd never cook at home!! Note: If you eat here, order the Cheeseburger or Hamburger!!! Our side was potato salad. It was delish too and I rarely like anyones potato salad but my moms.

Consistently good. Fresh ingredients. Terrific salads and burgers. Can't go wrong at Sunset Grill.

Excellent food at reasonable prices with great service! My wife's fried oysters were just perfect, not rubbery or thickly breaded. My jambalaya was not exactly what I knew as jambalaya when I lived in Louisiana, it had tomato and peppers, but still was very tasty. The homemade bread was outstanding. The place has a nice down home feel. Our only complaint was the noise level.

You wouldn't know it from the outside but it's quite fetching on the inside. Felt almost like I stumbled across an elite gem. The Reuben sandwich was delicious. Server was friendly, down to earth, knowledgeable and on top of things.

We arrived around noon on a Sunday in February. We were greeted promptly, and were allowed to pick our own table. It was fairly busy but there were several tables open. It is deceiving from the exterior, because it's actually a nice ambience with, by gosh, real tablecloths. There is a nice bar area and then a couple of separate areas with tables. Our waitress was prompt and friendly. Service was good and the food was delivered in a reasonable amount of time. For lunch, my spouse ordered the Sailor sandwich, and I ordered the Cuban. The Sailor came stuffed with pastrami, knockwurst and baby swiss on rye. The Cuban had slow roasted pulled pork, Virginia pit ham, smoked provolone, dill pickles and dijonnaise. Both were tasty but the Sailor was the winner - that knockwurst knocked it out of the park! The french fries were lightly breaded, and they were hot and delicious. Prices are average for the area. Highly recommend!

Not far from Short Pump heading into Goochland you'll find this gem. Don't let the outside fool you the food here is not country fare. Great steaks, burgers, salads and seafood. The service was steady although the bar was slow. The bar is always crowded so I'm sure the bartenders are working as fast as they can. Not a lot of tables so it's best to make a reservation. Nice outdoor seating in nice weather and live music occasionally. Definitely worth a stop.

The ambiance was low lighting, table lamps with a casual, intimate feel. It's a small place but with all the cars out in front there were still tables available. The service was very prompt. Our server was very friendly. We received our food. I had the salmon tacos and with a side of potato salad (strange I know!). My husband wanted to share his fries hence the potato salad. The tacos were very good and spicy. The potato salad very tasty. And..the fries were the best--crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside. Very good! My husband had the chicken salad sandwich with french fries. The sandwich was filled with chicken salad. No skimping here. Toasted sourdough. Just as he likes it. I'll have to take pics next time! We'll be back!!

Have enjoyed eating at this restaurant for over a year. But last night, Dec.22, was such a disappointment we may never go back. Service by a teenager was not professional and very curt. She placed the main course across the table so we had to reach across the table to get our dinner. Our table was opposite the kitchen and for the entire dinner 2 teen boys stood by the kitchen door and talked-only as we finished they removed 1 plate! Food was sub par--don't know if this is a real baked potato or not--hard when served and was hard when re-heated at home. Very disappointed.
