Sunsations in Virginia Beach

There are a ton of these at the oceanfront but this one is very large and easier to walk around inside of, well-stocked, and has great items inside. As locals, my husband and I love to come in and browse the sales and local-themed items to see what sorts of T-shirts and sweaters they have often. If you need some clothing, swimwear, towels, beach accessories and water play items as well as some souvenirs and sunscreen, you'll find it all here. They even have beach chairs for low prices. The quality isn't like J-Crew, but that's not what you're paying either. This is one of the nicer stores.

Sunsations sells all your go to beach needs and more. You can't go more than a few blocks on the strip without coming across a Sunsation location! I love popping in her for my T-shirts and sweat pants they are always priced well and super cheap. The store is always packed to the brim with product and can feel a bit confined making it super challenging to navigate!

As good a souvenir store as any other, Sunsations has everything you'll need to hit the beach in style. Lots of spendy stuff that you could probably get cheaper elsewhere but then again, if you want a "Virginia Beach" beach towel, hat or coozie, it's here or one of their competitors up and down Atlantic Avenue.

Lots of items to choose from, good prices, great customer service, and lots of souvenirs to choose from. I got my girlfriend and her entire family great souvenirs for $30! I'd give them a visit anytime I'm in VA Beach.

WARNING! They do not have a public restroom. And the workers are rude. We went to their store specifically to buy souvenirs after going to eat at Waterman's. Our four year old needed to go potty. I asked a store worker if they had a restroom and he said "No." and just looked at me. When I asked where I could take my little boy, he told me to ask the front desk. I went to the front and waited in line to ask. They said the closest public restroom was at first street on the boardwalk. I don't even know where that is, and the boardwalk is only walkable. Seriously?!?!?!? Since when is a business open to the public not required to have a restroom? Ridiculous. I will never shop at one of their stores again. My husband literally set down an armload of stuff because we had to go find a restroom. I'm thoroughly disgusted right now.

Rented a 4-seated bike for the family to ride up and down the boardwalk. Tires were flat which makes it tough to move, then the chain breaks at 20th. We limped it back to the shop and were told with a smarmy laugh "oh, we don't do refunds". All the bikes looked to be in rough shape, I'd recommend some place on the actual boardwalk for this.

I went with my wife and kids to Roma Pizza for some ice cream. Right next door, was the Sunsations store on 5th and Atlantic. We were there for less than 10 minutes. My wife was up front with our oldest and I was with my youngest toward the back looking at tank tops. I had picked out two tanks cause I liked the prices of the store and I loved the styles they had. As we were browsing, an employee from the store (a female, she has blond highlights, not sure if she was coming in for her shift, from lunch etc) walks past us, does not look us in the face and says out loud "don't forget to throw your trash away." (As a snarky comment) I replied "Thank you for the reminder, we won't forget." She then replies out loud again "Well we see you leaving the trash here all the time so..." (again not looking at us, we're looking at the back of her head as she is saying this). We have NEVER been to any Sunsations Inc locations ever. We are from Northern VA. I was so dumbfounded with what has just happened, I looked at my wife and told her to drop all of their merchandise where we were. I asked another employee if we could throw away the ice cream cups my kids had, they replied "you could use the trash cans outside our store." I was in awe of how they portrayed themselves and how they treated us. We had an employee see how frustrated I was and offered to throw the cups away. I replied "No thank you, I will use the ones outside as you all stated those were the ones "we" could use and we left. I did not feel comfortable paying my hard earned money to a place that has this type of attitude, service, employee, values etc. we immediately left and I looked for any "NO FOOD OR DRINKS ALLOWED" food signs they only sign they have says "Thank you for not eating, drinking or smoking in our stores." After this, we are never returning to any of their stores ever again after the way that employee made me feel. We weren't the only ones in the store. But we were the only Hispanics in the store. I was told by an employee that all the Sunsations Inc stores are owned by the same person. In the future, I would like to see employees trained on how to work with people with diverse roots.
