Sting Ray's Restaurant

I plan for this one any time I am heading up the VA-MD coast. Good seafood and generous portions. Sort of semi self service, but the food makes up for it.

Folks I was very disappointed in my interaction with this store. Stopped here while traveling back to Virginia Beach. We have stopped here numerous times before for gas and a pee stop. Nothing worth mentioning during those events. Nothing really good and nothing bad. But on Sunday April 28th we need a bit of gas and really needed a quick restroom break. Got our gas and went in and was quickly told (in a what I'd describe as a snotty tone at best) - "We are closed". I quickly turned and seen it was a lady at the register. When I mentioned I just paid for gas and that all the lights are on and the door was clearly unlocked. She again in a real bioch tone now - said "Sir WE ARE CLOSED." I walked out at that point and fella behind me, we weren't together appear pretty upset. Not sure if he had an interaction with her or not. When I checked Yelp later for store hours it did say closes at 7:30. This incident might have happened at 7:34-7:36. First - if you're closed then lock up and shut down the lights. Next if someone had paid and you have accepted their $$$ at least let them pee. Lastly - NEVER treat anyone like that. Never!What I will say is - I will NEVER use this place again. My guess we buy about $700 a year in gas here. Well not no more.

Always a great stop while heading south. Fresh seafood & and nice portion size. Service is always great!

Found this place while camping at Kiptopeke state park which is just down the street from here. It's part of a gas station but don't let that fool ya. If you're craving fried seafood , this place slaps. The staff inside were incredibly nice given how busy they were. People tend to come here in big groups. We ended up getting a couple of king platters so we could try a bit of everything. The fried fish was fantastic and our group finished it all pretty quickly. The waitress made sure we were taken care of. I will say that this isn't fast food. Expect to wait a bit because everything is made to order fresh. We were so hungry and devoured everything before I could remember to take a pic. I'll have to remember for next time cuz we'll definitely hit this place up again next time we camp here.

The breakfast was like how a mother cooks to feed a family. The flavor and portions were great. Everyone was friendly and I liked how it was set up to where you can sit down and eat at your own pace.

Favorite part lace to eat seafood when we are in the area! Consistently fresh seafood every time we stop. The sides change Dailey but we have never been disappointed with the selection. Cooked to perfection! They offer fried or broiled option. Flounder, oysters, scallops all cooked perfectly and seasoned great. Don't let location fool you., it's in the back of a gas station;)

cool place that's been around a long time. In a gas station but TASTY. We ordered at the counter and they brought food. Kids menu is a HUGE plus. Lots of seafood- fried or steamed. HUGE fish portion. The sides- the minus to them is they all sound good, so it's too hard to decide! Good for kids, adults, people passing through. Some seating and there were larger tables for groups.Some salad for your vegetarian friends but it's a seafood joint!

Really good little restaurant about 5 miles over the bridge on the Maryland side.I had the fried chicken livers, Lima's, salad and cornbread. And ice tea. All was excellent!! Subtly sweet cornbread. Perfection on the chicken livers -- not everybody knows how to fix livers. Have no fear, Stingray's knows how!Cute little gift shop too.Highly recommend a stop whether you are heading south or going north.

Got the crab cake platter, while it was a lot of filler, it had excellent flavor. The Mac n cheese was excellent for a restaurant. The order was made quickly. My main negative is that there was hair all in the food, on the cornbread and in the bag. This is just gross. And it is the largest reason why I hesitate to recommend it. This place is old and definitely a DDD kind of place.

We stopped to eat there on our way up the coast. My husband got 2 hotdogs. Within two hours he was throwing up uncontrollably. The doctor believes it was a staph infection ( food poisoning) caused by the hotdogs. He threw up all the way home to NY, at least seven or eight times. We consulted with our doctor and we may need to go to the ER in the middle of the night if it keeps up. I plan to call the health department in the morning.(note that I also got a black bean burger, and it was totally burnt.) Yelp is forcing me to give at least one star. I would give it -5 stars if I could.
