Stack'em High Pancakes & So Forth

The food is always good! The staff is delightful! We always look forward to our favorite breakfast food at this landmark restaurant. Family owned and operated for years and years! We always feel welcome there!

Our first time at this location. We stopped here because the line wasn't reaching out the door honestly. That did change while we were waiting. It is cafeteria style which I'm fine with that process for busy breakfast establishments. Not down with cafeteria quality food though. Which under the circumstances is what you get here mostly. The potatoes are cooked in bulk I'm sure. Made to order takes time. This is about the quickness. That's what you get at the beach. The food was decent and filling. Service was sufficient. She was definitely hustling to cover the whole dining area. I do like the beach decor and the strong family vibe captured in the photos throughout. We might be back.

We initially went to the location 3 miles down the road, but with a line out the door, we decided to drive 8 minutes to Stack 'Em High Pancakes MP 4.5--and we're glad we did! Not sure if these locations are officially associated, but they both follow the same cafeteria-style, fresh breakfast concept.The setup is straightforward: grab one tray per party, order your drinks, and pick out pastries and fruit if you'd like. After that, place your warm order (bacon, eggs, pancakes--you name it), pay at the register, and find a seat. Your hot breakfast will be delivered right to your table in no time.The service here is fast, and the food is fresh and delicious. We especially loved the local, family-friendly vibe.

This place is awesome! Kind of a throwback to the seventies. Slide your tray down the cafeteria style deal get your drinks or your food go sit down and they bring it to you. Excellent food great coffee and the service was Top Notch! I have written by this place a thousand times and never stopped but when we go to the beach it will definitely our breakfast stop! Also read the sayings on the walls some insightful and funny stuff.

Order came out wrong multiple times and the food is just not good. It is over priced and the food seems like some of its old especially the biscuits and gravy. They took the order wrong on multiple orders and tried to charge more because of it. Instead of fixing it they came over with the receipt to point out what the person who took the order messed up. The other stack'em high place is way better if you want a good breakfast place in the Outer banks.

Family owned businesses is always a plus, loved supporting local busy, you enter and at first it was a little confusing; cafeteria style entrances, but once you ordered your food and get to your table, the food came pretty quickly. We got the western omelette, bacon and cheese omelette, French toast with 2 egg and bacon, 2 kid breakfast...they were all really good. The meal arrived fresh of the grill, the waiter/waitress keep coming by to fill the coffee. Staff was friendly and professional. Food was amazingly good. Very happy with our experience, if we come back, will definitely come back.

We have always gone to the KDH location, but our rental was right across the street from the Kitty Hawk location and we were wondering why the ratings were so drastically different, and now we know after getting both this week. Quality of food is definitely not as good at Kitty Hawk. This is most likely due to a younger staff. The well seasoned staff and cooks appear to be at KDH. Some differences we noticed, for the chocolate chip pancakes, they just put chocolate chips on top of the regular pancakes, instead of sprinkled into the pancakes at KDH, which makes for a more well balanced way pancake. Additionally, the biscuits and gravy were made differently and not good. So I will be going to KDH location from now on.

Breakfast was amazing. Giant piece of Country Ham!!! Grits were creamy and biscuits were split and toasted. Yum.

Awsome as usual. Table service today was excellent. OBX must restaurant for breakfast.

I've seen the line out the door several times and thought this place has to be good...well I was wrong. Totally expected diner food-you know the kind-perfect eggs, crispy hashbrowns and packed with flavor-you won't get that here!!!I got 2 eggs over light, hashbrowns, white toast and 2 pancakes. First they were not busy at all-so don't go thinking they were in a hurry and my food came out cold...2 eggs over light-came out over medium and they were "dry burnt" like when you cook in a non stick pan on high heat with no butter/oil. Hashbrowns-not sure how one screws up hashbrowns but here it's possible! They honestly tasted like sliced canned potatoes they had a wetness inside and a firmer than normal texture like you would expect from canned potatoes. No crispiness just soggy and I saw seasoning but couldn't taste it and after adding a ton of salt I still couldn't taste them. Sausage links were so blond I honestly thought they would have been raw in the center. Now onto the pancakes-they had to be good right? Nope nope nope not sure I would even really call them pancakes they-no fluffy texture at all. They were filled with tons of holes and had a chewy like texture to them with a cornbread mealy consistency.The syrup...umm just bring your own. BUT the bread was outstanding! Thick cut, crispy and toasted to perfection!The staff was over the top awesome, attentive, courteous BUT the 150 mile an hour español conversation that went on for the entire meal between the staff was loud and unending.
