The winery kayak trip was so fun! Nick was an awesome tour guide who told us about the area as well as the wine. It's an easy paddle over to the winery, fun time there with flights of wine and purchasable food, and then an easy, buzzed paddle back. Had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend!

After staying at the Laughing King I received an invoice from Southeast Expeditions for a paddleboard rental of 5 days = $131. I emailed Dave that the rental was only there 3 days. Once he adjusted and sent back the invoice, it was 3 days = $113. So the 2 days that I didn't have the rental were a *combined* $18 but the days I did were an average of $60/day.

I emailed this company several weeks in advance of my trip and they didn't respond for more than a week. When I had follow up questions, it took them nearly two more weeks to respond. All the phone numbers on both their website and their email signature were out of date and when I finally got through to the owner, he apologized and said he would fix that. He never did. Finally at the site, many of the items we ordered were wrong, the owner's estimates of distances were wrong by 50%, and he didn't have maps for the places he was recommending we kayak to. The owner has to be one of the most incompetent business owners I've ever worked with. The saving grace was the local employee who worked way beyond the call of duty to help make things right and managed to salvage most of the owner's mistakes, but not all of them. Still, we ended up having a wonderful trip and the boats were in excellent condition.I recommend bypassing the owner of this company if at all possible, and working directly with his employees, who are competent and a delight.

A couple of my girlfriends and I did the Paddle Your Glass Off tour with Will, who is a wealth of knowledge, while we were staying in Cape Charles for a short girls' trip. It was perfect! The meeting place was conveniently located about 20 min north of where we were staying. One of the girls had never kayaked before, but our group received thorough instruction from Will before the tour began so we were all perfectly comfortable in our kayaks. The winery, Chatham Vineyards, is beautiful and the staff are knowledgeable and fun. The wines are delicious and we enjoyed a bottle amongst us while we snacked on a cheese tray to fuel our paddle back. Being on the water was so peaceful and we even felt like we got a little exercise out of the deal! Definitely recommend this tour!

I cannot rave about the Paddle Your Glass Off trip enough. Seriously, let me just count the ways in which this experience was everything I hoped for and more:1. Our guide, Margaret, was amazing. Funny, personable, intelligent, and extremely knowledgeable about both kayaking and the Eastern Shore history and wildlife.2. I'm a bit of a scaredy cat, and the idea of being confined inside a kayak terrifies me. I know, I know, my fears are unfounded, but what can I say... they still exist. Despite it being October and not prime season for sit-on-top kayaks, they still accommodated my request and indulged my wimpiness with a beautiful unconfined boat. 3. Did I mention I had never kayaked? The bf's a pro and even has his own at home, but I was a total first-timer. Margaret went through her normal paddle lesson spiel before we strapped on life jackets and headed out onto the water. The instructions were easy to follow, and extremely helpful. 4. The kayak trip itself was incredible. We paddled for about 45 minutes through a creek, spotted some great wildlife, and learned a bit more about this peaceful corner of our state. And can I tell you how rewarding it is to look up and see the original manor house on the Chatham Vineyard property that overlooks the water? Yep, very.5. The wine tasting was delightful - a typical wine tasting experience - but what followed was even better. Chatham Vineyard has partnered with Southeast Expeditions to allow a behind-the-scenes look at the winery. Margaret is fully versed in the history of the winery and the wine-making process, so she took us through the barrels and containers (can you tell I'm NOT well versed in the wine-making process?) and gave us an explanation of how everything works. 6. For every two people in your group, you get to choose a bottle of wine from the selections you tasted. Yes, you heard me right. Your expedition includes a bottle of wine, which you can choose to drink on-site or take home. Glasses are also available to purchase, if you want to save the bottle for later. We brought sammies with us, so we opted to enjoy our bottle while overlooking the grapevines. 7. The trip back is way easier than the trek out there. Not that either is hard, don't get me wrong, but after some wine, everything seems easier. Tours are usually comprised of 6-8 folks, but we hit the jackpot and scored a private tour since no one else had signed up. Very VIP. If you're like me and have never kayaked, don't let that stop you. My inexperience never once got in the way, and I had a total blast. At the time of this review, the trip is $85 a person, which is totally worth it for a kayak rental, guided tour, behind-the-scenes look at the winery, wine tasting, and a bottle of wine. Wine and the great outdoors? Yes, please.

I did the "Paddle Your Glass Off" tour at a bachelorette party with a group of girlfriends. There were 11 of us, so we had a private tour led by the owner, Dave Burden and another guide (his name escapes me at this point). We had a GREAT time! We paddled about 45 minutes through a gorgeous creek to Chatham Vineyards. A huge rainstorm started during our wine tasting, so we opened up 2 bottles of wine while we waited for the storm to pass. It didn't, so Dave and the other guide loaded up the kayaks and drove our designated drivers back to the cars so we could stay dry. They were so helpful and SO nice.If you're ever on the Eastern Shore and like beautiful scenery and great wine, defintiely visit Southeast Expeditions!

I can't give this company any stars, I have been calling and emailing for a week. The email address is not valid. Have not gotten a return call after leaving several messages. Please don't book your Chatem Winery tour with this company. I had to give a star to post this review.

My wife and some friends did this trip yesterday. What a great adventure! Rachel was our guide and we throughly enjoyed her professionalism and energy. The winery property is beautiful, the bread and cheese is awesome, and I'm not a wine person but the wine was also very good. Very affordable trip, beautiful nature and well worth it! We will be back.
