The service was friendly and fast, the queso frito appetizer was delicious - full of flavor (highly recommend) The chips were fresh and the bean queso dip was heavenly crack - I could eat it all dayThe problem was the entree couldn't match the dips or appetizer. I got a combo of flauta, burrito and enchilada. The flauta looked fresh, but it was dry and the meat had little flavor. This was consisent with the enchilada and burrito too - looked fresh but needed seasoning - salt/cumin/maybe a little heat.I would try this place again and give the fajitas a try. Hopefully the entree can make a comeback. SBM is worth a try, the Frito app and sauces are delicious.

Came here today with my date. Waters were brought out, but 1 was room temp. After orders were taken no chips & dip were ever brought out. Food came out pretty quickly. Also my date ordered tacos but no lime was with it.

The Fried Icecream was the best that I have ever had. The food was all superb! I highly recommend this place and I am visiting from Texas. Service was top notch.

The hunt continues for the best Mexican (well at least to my husband and I) in the Williamsburg area. Standout: The free cheese and bean dip that comes with the chips and salsa at the beginning of the meal. It states on the menu that the will change you for additional chips, salsa and bean dip but they automatically brought us another refill without asking if we wanted one but did not charge us. I had the pick three make your own combo with a beef taco, chilies rellano and chicken enchilada. My husband enjoyed the beef taco but I thought the beef was not seasoned well. Both the enchilada and the chilies rellano could have had more cheese on-top. The rice that came with it was good just not your standard Mexican rice that I am used too. My husband thought his burritos lacked flavor. Will still be on the search for the best Mexican in Williamsburg!

I came here on 5/5/23. It was very busy, and staff was all over the place. We got out chips right away with salsa and cheese and bean dip, did not get a container for the salsa. Then, I order 3 steak tacos , came with rice beans and lettuce sour cream and pico and I order a drink. I asked for no beans, and they gave me beans anyways. The food was terrible. The meat was dry, rice had no flavor. Later on got food poisoning or some stomach bug from this place! I would not recommend eating at this place. The only thing that was good was the alcohol. The ambiance was chaotic.

Amazingly authentic Mexican food. Service was great and the food was even better. Don't be fooled by the outside. This local hole in the wall is the real deal! Portions are HUGE, and the prices are super reasonable. Can't wait to go back.

This is a good joint. We've been there for lunch several times, and never been disappointed. The owner, Raoul, is very friendly. Prices are reasonable.I can't speak to dinner crowds since we've only gone there for lunch, but it's never been crowded, and service has always been great.Plus, I love a place where I can get a gently deep friend! :-)

South of the Border is always excellent! Mr. Alan is such a great host, and his food is delicious. Authentic El Salvadoran papusas, plus tasty tamales and enchiladas, and a great bar (try the margaritas on the rocks!), make this our go-to destination for Mexican food. We like to sit on the patio when the weather is nice, but the kids don't mind watching fútbol matches on the big screens inside, too. They just renovated, and the interior is still fresh and new! Check out this local, family-owned Williamsburg restaurant!

I was hoping the food would be improved since the restaurant recently was remodeled, but sadly it was not. We visited after it reopened and food was good but have been twice now and it's gone downhill Guess it's Juan's for us from now on!
