This is the worst toll in VA. Avoid it at all cost. They will scam you even if you have an EZ pass. If there is an issue with your EZ pass or you incur a charge for some reason , They won't contact you until they send your account to collections. This toll road is also unnecessary, you don't save enough time to justify the hassle.

Awesome pedestrian path across the bridge. About 2.5 mile round trip. Great way to grab some elevation during a walk, run or bike There's also a very nice park with restrooms a fishing pier with a bait shop and snack bar and a large boat launch check out the Facebook page and the City Page for different events they have there.Parking is free and plentiful the pathway is advertised to be open from sunrise to sunset but I've never been yelled at for being there early in the morning. Also worth noting the fishing pier does not require a fishing license if you want to use it.

This bridge is great for a moderate level walk to enjoy the scenic views or for a workout that will kick your butt. The inclines are killer! You'll have 47 flights on your fitbit when you complete one round on the bridge. I love coming here for runs to kick my butt in gear on the incline. The fun part is running down to the ends-just let gravity help your momentum no matter how tired you are. Beautiful views from the anywhere on the bridge. You'll find yourself stopping to take pics, snap, or get an IG story in with the views. I've been coming to this bridge for years, but trying to go more often to get back to the times I used to do when I would try to kick this bridge's butt. Drive your car to South Norfolk, park on the drive way at bottom of the bridge and GET IT IN!!!

The bridge is vesirable. It has really made a difference with my weight and physical challenges , giving me more strength in my legs and has improved my spine movement. Took this bridge for the first time and I was a bit surprised of it's beautiful views. I didn't even realize it was going to be so high! Everyone is talking about the cardio workout you can get walking/running on it, I'm not there yet (LOL) but I'm sure it's a workout!

I randomly come here for some cardio. This bridge is a great place to take advantage of working some different muscles on the nearest hill in the area. The bridge is high and presents you spectacular views as far as town center in VB! The sunset is a nice sight as well but don't ask me about a sunrise because that's early. I have parked on both sides. Portsmouth side is free for me because I don't need to make the trip over the bridge. This area is a dirt area filled with large potholes. You can find a sidewalk to lead you to the bridge. The Chesapeake side (after I pay the toll) has a larger parking area, a park with exercise equipment, picnic area, dock and other amenities available. The bridge walking area is on one side of the bridge. A barricade is between you and the traffic. The bridge has a start and stop sticker strips to keep track of how far you have made it! The path is wide enough for about 3 people. It is also bike friendly as well! So whether you choose a mile or two it's a nice change from a few laps around the flat level track or around your neighborhood. It's not a peaceful run. There is lots of noise from the traffic and the ships down below.

1st of all, YES!!!!! I believe i had a temporary moment of insanity!!! I walked across this bridge! I must admit...it wasn't as scary as i thought it was going to be! I also thought it was longer than 1 mile...but according to the lil markers, it was just a mile! Great exercise!!!

Always open, even in the snow, and the most reliable way to get across the river 24/7.

Absolutely ridiculous prices . In Texas our tolls don't go higher than 1$ most of the time. On average it's 70 cents . Didn't receive a bill until the late fee was already added to the price . So if you don't have ez pass for Virginia , I wouldn't recommend. Spending 27$ on a toll was absurd.

This is a magnificently beautiful bridge! It has a large protected pedestrian walk away and wide bike lanes. The bike lanes are on both sides and the walkway unfortunately is on one side and it is on the side that is less scenic. However, both sides are amazing! This is a very popular bridge with runners and cyclists. Hopefully, they will include another protected pedestrian walkway on the other side of the bridge where folks can take in a more closer view of the Norfolk cityscape. I also recommend this because they host a 5k here. It is about 1.5 miles across the bridge starting from the park. So you can get in over 3 miles easily here. This is a wonderful place to take a walk or go for a run or for more intermediate to advanced cyclists to have a thrilling ride. This is not a bridge for the beginning cyclist. It is a very steep ride and going down is quite an adventure. You really need to have excellent control of your bike going down because you can seriously injure yourself if you don't know what you're doing. For walkers or joggers this is the perfect place to get in a great workout. I have taken beginners here who were all very intimidated by the bridge when they first saw it but when they got on the bridge they were amazed at how they were able to get across without any difficulties. This is due to the winding curves as you climb. If you bring children, you must advise them to refrain from throwing anything off of the bridge. Children are easily tempted and want to toss pebbles they find or collect on the walkway over the bridge. I do not recommend that you bring strollers or very small children unless they are strapped to you. If you decide to bring them, you will need to hold onto that stroller very tight and you will need to keep your small ones very close at ALL times. If you have never been to this bridge to walk or ride your bike and it's a very windy day, I would advise you to come back when it is calmer. High winds make it more challenging and more dangerous. You have to be careful. I highly recommend this beautiful bridge for your next walk, jog, or bike ride.
