Sommer Freeze

The ice cream was great, kids loved it and the owner/cashier was super nice. The environment was cute on the inside and she stated there was a patio out back that we didn't see but I'm sure was very cute.

What a great ice cream place! The owner was so friendly throughout our visit. Cute decor and a large area to sit outside. So many choices of ice cream-but the best part is it's Bluebell! I've never been to an ice cream store that sells it. It is the best! I had coconut and it was so creamy with a lot of fresh shredded coconut in it. The back patio area has some really nice murals and a big chalkboard on one side of the building you can write on.I will definitely be going back here!

Upon leaving the comfort of Buckroe Beach, a hidden gem has appeared. There's nothing better than fresh cooling ice cream or frozen refreshments after a day at the beach. The oatmeal crème pie was amazing with the taste of maple syrup. Now for those that need something light on the tummy, try tigers blood snow cone. Don't let the name fool you because it's delicious! The picture of the snow cone tells I forget to get a picture before I started eating . And if you are scared that the snow will melt, it lasted till I arrived back in Richmond. Perfect for the family with adequate parking. It's small inside with a big heart.

Great little spot! An asset to buckroe beach. Ronni is good people. I like a lot of the flavors.

This place is a great addition to Buckroe. It's where Heavens Pizza used to be. A home style cooking place occupied the spot briefly, after Heavens moved into the corner spot that Chef Rainey's The Upper Room occupied before it sadly closed in 2020. Sommer Freeze opened last summer.I finally stopped by in March, and discovered that they serve Blue Bell ice cream. I requested just a scoop of coconut. She had some huge cookies on display. I got one - amazing! I went back in early April and ordered a coconut milkshake. It was delicious! I went back the next day and got my mom a salted caramel milkshake. She said hers was delicious too. There was a puzzle for customers to work on, and a got a few pieces placed while I waited. The owner is very friendly. This is a nice spot with a laid back, hometown vibe. 4/30/23

We absolutely LOVED Sommer Freeze! After a friend & I took our boys to buckroe playground we found ourselves burning up with the sun beating down on us... a nice cold treat is what we needed! Dana recommended Sommer Freeze & now I know why! For starters, be careful when using GPS if you blink you'll miss it! There isn't much signage to make it apparent from the road who they are. When you walk in the shop it's a pretty tight fit, there are some small tables over to the left and a bar that sits 3-4 on the right. Make sure to check out their flavor menu (on the chalk board wall directly to the left as you walk in). There are SO MANY YUMMY FLAVORS! I got one scoop of strawberry cheesecake on a cake cone, my son got one scoop "blue monster" in a bowl. My friend got chocolate chip mint & her kiddo ordered cookies and cream! Nothing beats hand dipped ice cream, and these flavor profiles were hands down the most delicious! The owner (lady behind the counter) was super nice & helpful. The shop filled up pretty quick but she handled it with composure and ease. It was a little warm inside so we opted to go around back where they have a shaded patio! You can never go wrong with a tasteful patio while you eat, we thought it was super nice. I really look forward to making this a summer staple, definitely give them a try!

Cute ice cream shop near Buckroe Beach. Perfect for the warm weather! The shop has a few areas for indoor seating, a smaller kids table with puzzles on it, what looked like a bar area, and benches outside. I came close to closing, around 6:20PM and there was a crowd. There was only one woman working. She was extremely patient with each person and got the line down quickly. Because it was near closing she was out of milkshakes and sugar cones. I ordered 4 one scoop cups. 2 had additional toppings. Although she was rushed, she crafted each order carefully and generously for one scoop! Total came out to about $19.

My family found this place about several months ago as we were driving past on a Sunday stroll. It was closed but I made a mental not to come and we have been coming every week! I love the flavors, the fresh waffle cones, the ambiance and the customer service is always great. The owner always greets us with a smile and has the best conversations. I look forward to working on the puzzle just as much as the ice cream! I highly recommend this being your summer go to!

Always nice!! Great selection and you can't ask for better service. And let's face it, is anything better than Blue Bell ice cream?
