Before I begin, let me start off by saying that this review is based solely upon my personal experiences and my personal experiences alone. So with that being said let's go!.I basically just stopped here to use the restroom facilities because it was close proximity of the area I was servicing at that time!. I pulled into the parking area and the restroom was conveniently located just a stone throw away. I noticed the wide area and walking trail along with some picnic tables under awnings as well. The view that came along with it was astounding to the eyes. That is the reason the 3 stars were given. Now let me tell you why 2 stars were taken away, the restroom was in bad shape, there was a large gaping hole above one of the urinals, there were spider webs with dead bugs in them all over the bathroom ceilings and numerous corners. There was one sink that wasn't in the best condition. Let's just say I was in and out of there in no time. If I'm ever in that area I will think twice about using their restroom again!.

"If we want children to flourish, to become truly empowered, then let us allow them to love the earth before we ask them to save it. Perhaps this is what Thoreau had in mind when he said, 'the more slowly trees grow at first, the sounder they are at the core, and I think the same is true of human beings.'"-David SobelThis is a much needed update. I originally wrote my first review at Sleepy Hole Park (SHP) when I first started on Yelp. It's time for me to write a real review before I go. SHP is a 66-acre multi-use park full of amenities. It is adjacent to the Sleepy Hole Golf Course and joins the shore of Nansemond River. Here are the amenities I alluded to:* 12 Picnic shelters* Grills* Volleyball area* Lots of open fields* Horseshoe courts* Playground with swings* Restrooms* Nature trails through eastern deciduous forest* 30-acre Freshwater Lake for Fishing* Children's Learning Garden* Beautiful views of the river* NEW Kayak launch and fishing pier!* Tons of waterfowlMy boys, my dogs and myself have spent lots of time at SHP, and I will miss it. The playground is usually quiet when we visit, allowing my boys to be boys; I have taken numerous pictures at the Butterfly Garden in the summer; we have explored the shore of the river, watching the snails, crabs, herons, egrets--just to name a few; I have spotted a snake, a couple of turtles, a cat, and too many birds to count; I have hiked throughout the short trails with my sons, learning about the different trees; and all of these memories will stay with me forever. Please take care of her for me.

So we visited this park because it is the closest to our home. We came on a Sunday and there was a very large birthday party going on with loud music and lots of people. No one was wearing masks so it was a little unnerving. The playground equipment has seen better days. My son is 1 year old and could have gotten dangerously hurt on some of the broken equipment. Disappointed in Suffolk parks and Rec! Surely we have the funds to fix broken playgrounds? Otherwise the park was well maintained and seems rather safe.

Sleepy hole is right next to a golf course and is a very nice park for fishing. There is a huge pier, a fishing hole and track for running. I would not recommend the track for strollers because it is very bumpy and rough. Overall, the park seems safe and I came here alone with my baby and puppy twice. I didn't have any issues and everyone was polite. I would definitely recommend this park for anyone wanting to fish or to just sit at the pier and enjoy the view.

Not much to this park - it's in Suffolk in a quiet part of town by some pretty homes and just down the street from the Sleepy Hole Golf Course (which we went to first by accident). There is a child's play area with some pretty flowers and landscaping, a pond area with a bench and serene water view (with tons of mosquitos at the wrong time of day/year) and a fishing pier with a lovely view. My friend and I stopped in after our hike to Lake Drummond didn't work out due to the mass amount of bugs on the Washington Ditch trail that day. We had a few hours to kill and stopped in here for a while - we spent a while sitting on the pier listening to the water and talking before we used the park bathrooms to change for dinner. All in all - it's not a park I would make a special trip to come to - but it was well-maintained.

First visit to this park! I drove around the park first before further investigation. Like most parks one way in and one way out! There parks was split into 2 sections of shelters and grass fields. There was also to water spots for fishing, including a pier. A sign posted a 2 pole limit per person. I have never seen a sign like that before but, I do get it. The pier was nice but for some reason I would have liked to see a bench or too on there. There was also a floating dock for your boats. There were several picnic shelters spread out throughout the whole park. I also saw a couple bathrooms and a few port-a-potties in the park. They were hard to miss a bright pastel pink to compliment your nature for the day. There is a lot of grass for your family reunions to spread out to mingle or play any yard game you want. One shelter was near a large horseshoe pit area and the other had the playground. Definitely a nice size park. Parking is where you find it as I only recall a small dirt gravel lot near the playground.

Real clean park, nice soccer field, a little fresh water fishing area and a large pier for saltwater fishing. Park is more hidden than most in the area so it is usually pretty quiet.

The park itself is great nice and quiet and clean but the men restrooms are in need of some deep cleaning and get all those bugs and spiders under control. Once they resolve this I would give five stars
