I've been a part of this gym for several years now. You don't get all the gym heads that like to show off. It's a nice community where you don't feel judged. There's also a wide range of people and body shapes. It's never usually that busy to where you can't get to the equipment you need. Their classes are included in the monthly fee. They also have a couple different pools, an outdoor water park, putt putt, and tennis courts. They have a sauna and each locker room but it's kind of small. I also wish they had a regular hot tub but they do have a small saltwater pool that is warm. They offer child care and discounts on your monthly fee depending on your financial status and if you're a city or school employee. They also have an outdoor pond that you can walk around when the wheather is nice.

BEST gym. OK size weight room but it's never so full you can't work out. The pool is AMAZING- especially the outdoor pool which is totally worth it. not too deep but never packed. Yolanda will greet you and put a smile on your face. the bathrooms are clean, nice showers.GREAT gym and worth the money.

The JCC or (jfit.today) is probably the best gym in Virginia Beach. I received a 7 day pass and took the membership in 2, that's how much I loved jfit. My only experience at another gym prior to this was the "Mega Gym" (remain nameless) of Hampton Roads which I had an 8 year membership. What set this gym apart was: No crowds: 5pm, which was a nightmare at my other gym, was a welcome when I arrived, hell even during resolution time (Jan 1st) it was never crowded. I was able to utilize free-weights, treadmills, ellipticals, and machines whenever I pleased and barely had to wait. If waiting, all members allowed me to work in, after politely asking. With 10-15 members at 5pm, getting a gym workout was a breeze and helped when I needed it for commute times. I would go in at 5pm then leave at 6:30 (with little to no traffic back to the Peninsula) Even in the morning, no one is hardly there, I started going from 7:30am-8:30am. Clean: This place is clean and feels refreshing. From the showers, bathrooms, to the mandatory wiping of machines (towlettes always close by), it was spotless. Additionally, everyone could get free fresh cleaned towels at the beginning of their workouts. Diverse groups of machines, free weights, and other items were plentiful to meet your fitness goals. They even have classes that include HIIT, Tabata, Zumba, and Yoga. Classes are offered numerous times throughout the day. Quality staff. They were the best. When I was commuting to Newport News daily and having a hellacious time remodeling and selling my home, the staff always made me feel right at home. I was going through immense stress but talking with them made me feel better. There was always a quick hello and smile from the staff. Also, the gym members were some of the coolest persons I met and very friendly. JCC didn't have that "gym vibe" with people constantly taking selfies, texting between sets, or walking around half-naked. Diverse offerings: Showers (6 super private stalls), Water Park, Putting Greens, Basketball Courts, Swimming Pools (outdoor/indoor), soccer fields, lockers, clothes cleaning, food bar, soda machines, snack machines and other things, and free water bottles who would want to leave this resort? It actually felt like a country club when I came. I loved the free gel to style my hair and even providing little touches such as shampoo and body wash was awesome! The price is a steal! When I was tallying all that was offered and the lack of members, I immediately thought the price was going to be outrageous. My job with the federal government presented a small discount but the price for all you get is a steal. (Cheaper than all gyms except rec centers)Sadly, many people whom I tell about this gym, immediately ask, "Don't you have to be Jewish to go?" NO! NO! NO! This is one of the biggest misconceptions. Im not Jewish. There are so many other things to speak about but you should take a 7 day pass and experience the amazing gym yourself. The small touches will wow you, being close to the interstate, updated workout machines, and the ability to get in a workout at your own time. Sadly, I had to cancel my membership after a year due to other obligations. Anyone can benefit from this gym to the first time gym goer, the bodybuilder, runner and a great asset for the triathlete. It was easy to cancel the membership but sadness came when I did.And look at the pic, this gym got me seriously in shape!!!!

I'm sure everyone can all agree that we are geared towards better health and fitness nowadays. I belong to a couple of different fitness centers in the area yet, i always find myself gravitating to the Simon Family JCC. Centrally located in the heart of Virginia Beach, the center is not only a fitness center, but it is also a private academy as well. They have a fitness center located on the second level that you wouldn't think would have as many amenities that it does. The staff is very friendly as well as informative and the main workout area has recently been upgraded to all new, top of the line fitness equipment. There is also a nice heated pool that accommodates those with or without special needs and sports injuries as it has a treadmill inside of the water for a nice low impact workout. There is a steam room and a sauna also located inside of the dressing areas as well as plenty of showers. One of the main reasons I love to workout at this gym is because (ladies you do not have to worry about how you look) i like to go to the gym to workout, sweat, whether i look cray cray or not and not feel like I'm in a meat market like some gyms can make you feel. I did however give 4 out of 5 stars because although i enjoy my workouts, there are just a few more modern pieces of equipment that I feel that this gym is lacking.

Stopped in here for a weekend Zumbathon that was a charity event sponsored by FORCE for women with genetic and hereditary cancer or cancer mutations. The Simon Family JCC volunteered the space for our weekend Zumbathon and it had a lot of parking, was tucked away into a quiet neighborhood, and was clean and nice inside. I can't comment on much because I only saw the entry and a side gym - but from what I saw this was a nice facility and it was very nice of them to offer us their space for charity. The entrance has a "greeter" behind glass who has to buzz you into the building and, once inside, there is a large common area with rooms and gyms to either the left or the right.

Terrible customer service. Not very helpful on any aspect. I asked for a four of the building and never received one. Bad communication with this company and the staff is stuck up and snotty. I will stick with the YMCA as they have their act together and it's a MUCH better experience all around. Cancelled my membership here today. I would not recommend to friends and family.

I only got the membership for my family. I use the gym on base but when I'm home and I need to hit the gym, I go here and there is always equipment available. The staff is super friendly and always there to lend a hand. The best part about this membership are all of the benefits that it offers. For kids, this place is a dream. They have camp, family days, child care, and many other awesome things available. I'm truly glad that I purchased the membership and look forward to using there facilities when I can. P.S. My family loves going as well!

There's few facilities that offer as much as Jewish Community Center does. There are plenty of parking. Big campus. The facility is very secure and well maintained. The staff are friendly and knowledgable and there are plenty of events for the whole family. Our kids attended school there for 4 years and liked it so much! The library is especially the best! The extra curriculum courses are also great! You have to watch what food you bring in there though since they would like to keep everything kosher. I once asked for a refill at cardo cafe and was told that it would not be kosher. It has been the funniest thing I heard in a long while.

What's not to love about the JCC?First, you need not be Jewish to attend/become a member. That's a common misconception. They are welcoming to all.Second, my daughter has attended the neighboring school, summer camp, swim lessons, and t-ball. I don't use the gym as I should, but the recently upgraded facilities are really nice. The outdoor pool is awesome! We've never had a membership to the local water park because this is enough for us. Although we do have passes to BG, we never go to the water park there either because again, we have what we need right around the corner at the JCC.The staff is always friendly and the facilities are always clean. We love the JCC!
