Ordered food to go and was really impressed at the ease of placing an order as well as how quick my meal was ready! It was packaged really well with utensils, napkins and my name emblazoned on the bag. The inside looked nice with red plush chairs which made me excited to eat in one day. I ordered the hamburgers and gravy with mashed potatoes and mac & cheese as the sides. The mac and cheese was phenomenal! I also added a side of cornbread which reminded me of the ones my family baked with dinner growing up. I added a pat of butter to the warm bread which really transported me. The burgers and mashed potatoes were a bit salty, however, so I'd recommend being cautious if you're sensitive to sodium. The burgers also had a bit of pink inside, which I wasn't sure if that was the standard, but if you prefer your burger well-done, you may want to call in your order since there was no temperature option on the DoorDash ordering system. Overall, I'd give this place a try if you're looking for a soul food spot with a homey familial vibe. I would definitely recommend the sides and the cornbread!

We were passing through headed back to NC and stopped in for dinner. The dine in crowd was very light with a steady stream of take-out customers. The small dining room was clean and nicely decorated. Service was attentive and the food very good. We had shrimp, fish and a few sides. Very good southern cooking overall.

My daughter has frequented Shut Yo Mouf Soulfood many times and since we were in the area, she wanted me to try it out for myself. Thankfully, we were seated right away and I couldn't help but notice how beautifully decorated the dining area was. Since I was in the mood for fish, I decided on the Fried Whiting with Mac & Cheese and Yams with a side of Cabbage. The food was served in less than 15 mins which was very impressive. The Whiting was great! It was seasoned very well and fried perfectly. The Mac & Cheese was pretty tasty but was a tad bit salty; however, the Yams and Cabbage were really good! My daughter ordered the Chicken Wing Dinner and the chicken was just as great!Our server was super friendly and attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely check them out if you are craving great soul food in the Petersburg area. You will not be disappointed!!!

SHUT YOUR FREAKING MOUF!!! I came here with a party of 10 hungry fellas. We wrecked the menu, I thought I took more photos, but let me just say when the food hit the table we were all in without hesitation. We were greeted by the owner when we got there and she was so nice from getting us settled to going and doing the cooking. Our server was amazing in taking care of all of us efficiently had all of our drinks refilled without asking and gong the extra mile to handle different special requests that we had.At this point stop reading and just go you will not be disappointed.

We drive up to celebrate a friend who was in the area's for another weekend event. We all met her for her birthday surprise. My sis has who lives in Chesterfield dined here some time ago and said they didn't have heat and froze waiting for their order so left. Fairly decent size restaurant for this area, we were greeted when entering. Our party had 5 tables to seat everyone. The staff were not really prepared for our party as we arrived as they scurried around slightly confused. We sat ourselves and enjoyed our conversation as everyone arrived. Sunday is a buffet style serving. The food was good home cooking, just not really freshly prepared. The steam table offered mashed potatoes, cooked rice, cabbage, collard greens, yams, fried fish, fried fish, fried pork chops, beef liver with onions, baked chicken, super sweet cornbread, good macaroni and cheese, brown gravy. I tired most of everything and finished my plate. Our entire party was happy with our meals, but I felt like I was eating leftovers. Fresh sliced fruit is offered at the steam table and nice tossed salad with various dressings. I'll try them again whenever we visit up that way. Our servers came and went checking on the table to see if we needed anything, refill of lemonade, water, ice tea, or the incredible Arthur Ashe drink. The entire restaurant was nicely decorated with cotton tablecloths, which makes a nice impression.

The food at Shut Yo Mouf is definitely down home good Southern cuisine. The burgers are amazingly well done. The Mac and cheese is to die for. My granddaughter ate it all!!! The pig feet were falling off the bone and the cabbage was well seasoned.I attempted to take my family there a couple weeks ago. The restaurant only has one table sat. We were told the wait would be an hour to an hour and a half for us to get service because the sat table was big party. They also said they had a catering order to get out. Of course, we left. We didn't feel like the people IN the building were being tested very well. There were four in our party. However there was a party that came in behind us that had 7. They were told the same thing. They would even sit is a AT a table! This was unacceptable. On a Saturday, you should have folks together to meet the needs of customers coming in for dinner. Please do better in that area.

Beautiful experience and everything was really good and had so much flavor! I'll definitely be back for the smother turkey legs!!

The food was 10/10. Obsessed with the collard greens. The desserts were also amazing. They were very helpful and took the time to confirm that my daughter could eat the food, even with her severe food allergies.

The food is Homemade... Delicious ~ I had: chicken&waffles, Mac n cheese, French fries, and banana pudding... Good portions - I left full and with a to go bag...My server was Fantastic... Kind, Attentive, and Efficient... The restaurant is clean and the atmosphere is relaxing...I'll definitely be going back
