Shipwrecks Taphouse & Grill

First visit and I'll be back!!Great atmosphere...Great service....Great steamed shrimp and Great selection of drinks!!!Definitely "2 thumbs up"!!

Went here for dinner on Super Bowl Sunday. We ordered the broiled jumbo shrimp w sweet potato fries and onion rings. The (12) shrimp was good. Unfortunately the sweet potato fries were doused with a salty spice mix that does not pair well with it. Over all I thought the fried sides were too greasy. Food was just OK. Ambiance was loud and lively. Service was very good.

So a little bit of a mixed bag on our end. Shrimp and corn chowder was very nice. Thick and sweet with good flavor. Hush puppies some people liked them and some thought they were over cooked. Crab Rangoon were small and a bit dry. Not a favorite. The. Scallops were good. Cooked well and seasoned just right. The coleslaw was not good. The bang bang tacos were pretty goodThe cheesy Mac was good nice portion. Maybe too much baconThe broiled seafood plate. The shrimp and scallops were good. Cooked nice. The flounder however, I thought was not that good. It was bland and a bit mushy. The bacon jam burger was a fail in our mind. It was a greasy mess. It was nice night to sit outside and the live music was a nice bonus.

The food was good, I had the seafood pasta and the sauce was great! My boyfriend got the admirals platter and they mixed up his request for how he wanted it cooked, but were quick to fix it. It's slightly pricey for what it is, but overall we had a nice time. I'm sure in the tourist season it's nice sitting outside but we were inside this time. Our waitress was very nice and helpful even though it was a busy night.

I cannot say I recommend this bar and grille. Fries undercooked, food underwhelming, even the drink disappointed. Hamburger overdone. Lots of people there but just did not work for us.

This was our second visit to Shipwrecks. We returned because Ms T remembered that she liked the fried shrimp. I remembered the fish tacos were not good, served on cold dry flour tortillas, but I felt I could surely find something else to order.Ms T ordered her fried shrimp again and they were very good. The shrimp are large, plump and tender. The coating is light and this time they were not completely salt free, just needing a little. The one I stole was delicious. She had fries and slaw on the side.I opted for grilled salmon, served on an Asian slaw. Being a slaw lover, I ordered a side of regular slaw in addition. The salmon was grilled perfect, medium rare for me and the cajun blackening was also a nice treatment. I liked the Asian slaw very much. I enjoy salmon frequently and would certainly order this again. In fact, I look forward to it.I cannot review Shipwrecks without commenting again on their regular cabbage slaw. It is so bad it defies description and we had forgotten this when we ordered it again. After all, it had been a couple of years. Needless to say it went uneaten. It is dressed with a nasty sour cream kind of dressing. It simply tastes spoiled. There is no vinegar and no sweetness. It just tastes like spoiled sour cream. We were told it is mayo based, and although mayo was not detectable, if it is, I have never tasted mayo like this. The mystery of the coleslaw aside, there are plenty of choices for us on the menu. We appreciate that they participate in the AAdvantage Dining program and will come back. I'm sticking with three stars simply because the slaw is so, so bad. Try it. Tell me I am wrong.

it's a cool beach bar vibe. there was a women doing live music (one man band). all the good we got was amazing! initially upon arrival, we we're told 40 minutes so we decided to order from the bar && by time we received our drinks the table was ready. our server (beauftragung asi type this) was great!! he was polite && on top of us despite being busy! i think his name was rok?! (apologies server! see you all again!

We came here for my friend's birthday & our server was absolutely awful. She was extremely rude, she had a smart attitude, and she made everyone super uncomfortable - the food was great though. It really sucks she made it such an awful experience.

Friendly service, excellent food, and pet friendly patio with several TVs. Had Admiral plate with flounder, shrimp and scallops. Lightly fried. Great hush puppies. Had a bowl of chili that was the best I have ever eaten. Staff was very attentive and ensured that we were able to watch bowl game. Variety of adult beverages and cold draft beers. Have very good Bloody Mary. Live entertainment on Th and Friday nights. Will now be our go-to spot in Kill Devil Hills. Our best dining experience in the OBX.

Always great service here and a good drink as well. The wings are legit. They are smoked and then finished in the fryer and some of the best on the beach.
