Shadowlawn Eats

After a long day and looking for a late meal, Shadowlawn was a great choice. We happened across this great local spot hidden in the corner of a small stripcenter, after being turned down an hour and a half before its closing at another place. Truly glad the other place didnt want our business. It was raining and late now and we just wanted a little hot food. Our server went way above and beyond, when we walked in he stated that the kitchen was about to shift over to late night and if we wanted dinner we had about five minutes left to order. We made a quick look at the menu and ordered a couple appetizers and some drinks. On his return with water, I ordered the fish and chips too.A true locals place, surf bar vibes, there was live music even on a wednesday night. Its a small place a pair of rows of high top tables, a bar with stools and a small sitting area inward. The kitchen is open and to the right, walking in. Surf boards on the ceiling.My Calamari appetizer showed up promptly, 10-12 minutes. Well prepared, piping hot and tasty crunchy good. Served basket style, it is enough to share.It wasnt another ten minutes or so and my fish and chips arrived, also freshly prepared, golden brown filtes and a mountain of fries. Served in a basket as well, the fries were good and plentiful. A decent fish and chips served with a tartar and lemon, malt vinegar for the asking. A draft to go along with it all and it was a good late meal.Kind staff, definitely went above and beyond and made us feel welcome and appreciated even walking in late. Was very slow on a Saturday in March. It's a small place but the food is fantastic! The chef clearly takes pride in what he is doing. We had a cuban and it was delicious!!

Hubs has been here a few times but I joined last night. They had live music playing featuring 90s tunes and have several nights a week with live music. It's small and cozy inside but they have a large bar and open kitchen, clean restrooms, and a few high top and seated tables. A much larger menu than expected with some great items. Our friend ordered a hot honey chicken sandwich with fries, I chose a chicken ceasar wrap with potato salad and my husband had a cubano sandwich with fries. All were good and the potato salad was really delicious and house-made. They were pretty busy and nearly all tables and the spaces at the bar were filled up. Not bad for a Wednesday night. Service was friendly and we had a great time at this small locals gem. Would def come back.

Run bar type scene. Great service, fun vibe. We enjoyed the firecracker shrimp bowl served with plenty of shrimp and, rice and delicious sauce. The pork belly BLT was fantastic. Served in Texas toast, fresh lettuce and tomato! And those fried pickles, so good!

Absolute gem! Menu in the photos!Found this place while on vacation and absolutely loved everything about it from the atmosphere, to being able to watch our food be prepared, to the AMAZING food!! The staff was fantastic and they were so kind to my 4 year old and 10 year old too!I couldn't have asked for a better start to our vacation!

The service was great; our food was good. I probably WON'T go back in a game day, but that's a me problem. Also, maybe let people know that the homemade chips are made with Old Bay.

I was very surprised by this place as it was just a convenient spot from the hotel we booked. While the food here may seem very basic, it was seasoned really well and everything was delicious. The service was pretty quick and the staff was very friendly and patient as my parents asked for certain changes. The decorations were more rustic but it fit with the food that they served. Overall a very good experience.

Perfect laidback beach grill with elevated foodWe split the sliders and the blackened tuna bites. The bites were exceptional, made even better with the wasabi aioli!Tristen was an excellent server and made us feel welcome, our eight-month-old included!

Devon and Tristan were so sweet! My friends and I were in town for a bachelorette party and a Virginia Beach native told us to visit Shadowlawn eats. We LOVE it here. Can't wait to come back

The food was excellent, pleasantly presented. The servers were attentive and we had nice conversation with them.
