Shaddai Chicken

Juicy, flavorful chicken! The sauces provided were blue cheese and ranch rather than a peruvian sauce but they understand some locals might not be crazy about the local sauce. The maracuya they make is very refreshing and flavorful for a hot day. They rotate between six flavors as they are not able to offer all of them at once- passion fruit, tamarind, horchata, hibiscus, two other typical ague frescas flavors that I cannot remember.This place is hard to find as the entrance is "pulled back" with a gas station and Jerry's subs more visible from the main road. Near the Piggly Wiggly.Staff is very friendly here. I took out as I couldn't stay in the area.

Such a wonderful spot. Tried horchata, yuca fries, chicken tacos, and the seafood fried rice. All were delicious, had a fair amount of heat, and were well seasoned. Service was quick and friendly! Great place to stop in if you are on Roanoke island!

Aug 16 2024 update, complete waste of my time for a to go order. . Called ahead, arrived and they hadn't even put in the order.. Told me it would be 10 minutes, and it was 20. Then it wasn't even right, totally got one dish wrong and no silverware and we caught it a little ways down the road.. Definitely did not save any time by rememberjng the place, straight up chaos in side.

The pollo a la brasa was delicious! I got the half chicken with fried yucca and black beans plus I added white rice so I could have it with the black beans. Price was really good. I got takeout and with tip and a drink it was $26 and change. Yucca was good but I would have liked a few more pieces. The rice was really good and had a nice light garlicky taste to it like Peruvian rice is supposed to have. Service was good but I got takeout so I can't speak to a seated experience. The woman the gave me my food checked it before giving it to make to make sure it was correct which was nice to see and showed me they really cared about their customers and getting their orders right the first time. The dining room wasn't very busy, there were only 2 couples seated but I was there around 1:30 on a Wednesday so I wouldn't expect it to be busy. There were a fair number of people in and out of the restaurant getting takeout while I was there which was good to see. A few of them seemed like regulars because the person taking orders knew what they wanted without the person saying it. I liked how the dining area was separated from the register area and kitchen so the dining ambiance won't be disturbed by people getting takeout. Long story short, I will be going back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend El Shaddai Chixken to anyone looking for a great meal.

Who'd have thought I'd be posting a review for Peruvian food from Manteo, NC instead of seafood but here goes. My family and I had just visited the aquarium on Roanoke Island. We were on the way back and saw the sign for Shaddai chicken. We love Peruvian food, and quickly looked up the reviews and saw that they were great. We decided to turn around and try it. We were glad we did! We were seated fast by a very friendly hostess. We got a whole chicken, a half chicken, sweet potato fries, plantains and guacamole. Everything was perfect. My wife said the sweet potato fries were the best she's had (and she's tried a LOT) and the serving was enough for the whole party (2 adults, 2 5 year olds). The chicken was fresh and hot and perfectly cooked. If you're ever in the area, check this place out! You will not be disappointed. It's in a nondescript plaza right on the main road.

Peruvian Rotisserie chicken was delicious! We went back another day and got more. Chips and salsa were good but were better with the Cheese dip (isn't it always?). Steak noodles (I forget the name) was OK -- not sure we'd get that again.Fried yucca was not my favorite (a bit dry and under seasoned). Was excited to the get the fried chicken, but they were out . Service was decent and friendly. Ambiance is similar to your average Mexican restaurant.

This little spot of wonderfulness was such a pleasant surprise. The food is amazing. The customer service was great and was truly appreciated. But let's get back to the food. This restaurant served a mix of Peruvian and Mexican dishes . You could choose from delicious Peruvian rotisserie chicken to tacos and quesadillas. I ordered the seafood fried rice dish. This was full of flavor filled yellow rice with peppers and onions chocked full of scallops, shrimp and calamari. We also shared a half chicken with yellow rice and veggies. To top this delicious dinner off, we ordered slices of carrot cake, chocolate Hershey cake and a large piece of bread pudding.. all of which were delicious. This place is definitely a must stop when in Manteo. You will NOT be disappointed.

Ceviche: Authentic, fresh fish that was tender enough. And this wasn't too acidic as I've seen. Fried fish: The fish that came with this meal was salty and dry. I didn't make it past a few bites. It just wasn't good. Vegetables: The veggies were fresh and authentically Peruvian style. Salsa: The salsa that came at the beginning was incredible. Super fresh, savory, and garlicky. Calimari: I wish I hadn't ordered all the fried food. It was too much batter and just not that interesting. I think it was a fine version of classic fried calimari. But I wouldn't get it again. I'd rather enjoy another lighter dish!

Great flavorful chicken and rice is awesome. Used take out, they ran out of their rotisserie chicken but gave me lotsOf white meet tenders which I prefer anyway.

Best food and service ever! Love this place so much we wished we lived closer but try to make excuses to go to manteo often!
