Scoot's BBQ

Side of the road BBQ! Had the pulled chicken, pulled pork, brisket and turkey. All were top notch! Cornbread, cucumber salad, collards and slaw were excellent. Beans were too sweet for me, but maybe not for you? Try the NC sauce! Staff was welcoming and explained the menu/options warmly. All you could ever want in a BBQ joint!

The brisket, collard greens, and fries were delicious. The dining area was decent, and the outdoor seating is especially nice during cooler weather. The service was good, and I definitely want to return to try more items from the menu. Overall, I like this place, which is conveniently located just off the main road.

Best BBQ in Hampton Road area. Salads are fresh and the sides are da'bomd diggity. Brisket, i ask for lean and always comes out that way. Smoked turkey is a nice add on to my healthy salad kick. The wings and fried chicken are my faves, but I am not consuming at this time. Healthy food options at this time. My favorite thing about Scoots is the staff, thank you Ladies. Super friendly, very attentive to the customer's need and always willing to help with menu options.

The brisket tacos were tasty. The burnt ends were good but hardly any bark and overly sauced. They also were served lukewarm. The okra was piping hot and tasty. Disappointed that for the price it didn't come with any type of cornbread or roll. Food is good but not proportional to price and quality. Collards were sweet which is new to me but they were good. Macaroni and cheese was a big miss I'd recommend skipping that.

My friends went to Olivia's and loved it. They mentioned this bbq place was the same owner and the parking lot is always full when I drive by. I swung in to see what's good. I chose a combo plate so I could get a taste several different items. I got the 3 meat (upgraded with ribs- think he called it Texas trio). I got baked beans and paid extra to add a side of macaroni and cheese. The food came reasonably fast, but was not hot. Nothing was anything more than hardly luke warm. The ribs were the better meat item of the three. The pulled pork was mostly flavorless (and cold) and the 3 small (probably end) slices of brisket failed in size comparison to the amount of pulled pork and the portion of ribs. The beans at bbq places alway excite me. Sometimes they have onion or bits of meat and can really make for a great side dish. These were unimpressive in flavor and I could probably count on one hand how many stringy strands of meat (possibly the pork based on texture and appearance) it had. It was disappointing because of how much I looked forward to it. The macaroni and cheese had the tiny elbow noodles and I couldn't make out the kind of cheese used. It was also mostly cold and a let down compared to other places. I don't mean to bash this place. I think my expectations created the disappointment. The service is outstanding and the owner was making rounds engaging with guests trying to ensure they had a good experience. I don't like to complain especially when you can tell someone really takes pride in their food. I didn't complain also because I didn't want a refund of any kind (I like supporting local businesses). Probably the most disappointing part is now I'm apprehensive about trying Olivia's based on my experience here.

Great food, service & polite waiter. Outside cafe ambiance fantastic because all who left from inside stopped and talked with us., and tose passing by.

Love this food at this place but the service has been awful as far as wait times. Been here twice now in the past month and have had to wait forever to finally receive the food. Last night I sat there for 15 minutes after paying for my to go order to be informed that they were out of what I ordered. There are 4 full tables in the place and most have signs waiting for food. Again, love the food but really hope they do something to pick up the service in the back of the house cause it's awful.

I've been here several times now and don't know why I haven't sent a review in. Such a cute hometown feel with excellent bbq. Every time we come in we have great service. My favorite item hands down is the pulled pork sandwich. Cooked perfectly, moist and great flavor. I highly recommend the pork rinds as well. We will always come back to scoots and bring people from out of town!

Scoots is absolutely delicious. The fried chicken is so darn good! Honestly the best I've ever had. Beans were also amazing. We wanted to try the banana pudding pie but they were out, but let me tell you that peanut butter pie was Meg Ryan in When Harry met Sally worthy! My son said the brisket was the best he's ever had. The owner was there and super friendly, talked to us for a while. They also own a restaurant called Olivia's in town. Sounds amazing and we can't wait to try that as well.

We frequent Scoots for great BBQ. Scoots bowl is my favorite dish. Fried chicken is tops. We have never been disappointed here. Worth the drive to Gloucester. Staff is always friendly. You are made to feel appreciated for your business.
