Sawyer's is fun. Even if you just go to peek at what they have in stock for something extra to do on your trip in or out of town every so often, the selection changes and rotates in and out as they pick things for the sales floor, so there is always something new. Both times I've been in I've been approached by a rep and greeted and this last time I was made to feel incredibly welcomed. Such a lovely staff team and even their delivery staff are awesome - so polite, very strong! The coffee table I got is such a stunning centerpiece. If you're surrounded by cheap particle board stuff or sitting on an ancient stuff that's seen better days, and considering something nicer, at the very least it's fun to window shop here and get ideas.

Have been to this store shopping around years ago. It was not a inviting place. But on last visit, this store is in the process of upgrading the entire showroom. With the help of a well known local interior designer, Darlene Tuttle, that's no longer the case. The store has a more upscale appearance. It has neen transformed from a warehouse layout and presentation to a modern look. Individual room areas have been built to showcase the furniture, making it easier to picture what you need and how it looks in a room. The sales designers are a great help matching patterns and colors to find the look we were going for. The prices were average for North Carolina manufactured furniture which the State is known for. All the regular brands are here like Ashley etc. If you are looking for furniture, this is a good place to stop, will come back again.

We bought a $5000 "leather" sectional sofa with recliners from this company. After waiting about 2 months for it to arrive we finally got it delivered. As soon as we saw it, we knew it was not covered in the material we had picked out and had been paying for (yes..paying for b4 it arrived).We asked the delivery guys to take it back then but were told they were not authorized to do so. Many phone calls to company with no results. We made a visit to the store only to find out that the sofa we saw on the floor was no longer there, neither was the salesman still employed there. We finally got someone to come out and take pictures of it, who agreed with us that it was not the right material, and that it was already falling apart (springs coming out the back of recliner as well as broken zipper) The only thing that Sawyers House of Furniture will do is have someone come out and fix scratches in the same pleather material and repair the springs and zipper. There is no customer service here and have been denied the opportunity to speak with the owner repeatedly. Their ad on the radio says that they take care of first responders and veterans.FALSE ADVERTISING!!! This veteran was taken advantage of .Like

WowWhat a place in such a small town, The big guys can learn from this place.Recliner's recliner's recliner's............I never seen so many recliner's in one place, you name it power recliner's, manual recliners, love seats, full couches that recline.They have all kinds of furniture and appliances what a place in a small town.Fast service, decent value, very knowledgeable staff.Get this you buying what you sitting in and looking at.No waiting days to get you order from the warehouse, they take it right off the floor and deliver it the same day and in our case delivery was less than one hour, you can't beat that.......Just outstanding.Very happy customer.

My husband and I have made this our go to store for furniture since moving to Elizabeth City, almost 8 years ago. Nearly every time I'd go there to shop, Mr. Sawyer would be there walking around making certain things were right, he seemed very proud and dedicated to the business he built. So why the 1 star rating....In November, I visited the store looking for a new living room set. Right away I noticed a sign on the door indicating that Mr. Sawyer had passed earlier in the year (2015). I wondered how that might affect things at Sawyers. But all the same familiar faces were present. Jackie and I got down to the business of picking a new living room. I fell in love with a cream colored sectional and brought my husband back to take a look. He added a recliner, and agreed to the living room set I wanted, however he wanted them to order a new model as the showroom model was discolored. After returning home and measuring the space, we found that the set currently in the store was also too large for our living room area. We'd need to customize the order, which Jackie said was no problem. After a few visits and many phone calls, Jackie and I locked in a configuration and she placed the order...to the tune of 3900 bucks. She said it could take up to 4 to 6 weeks, but she and I were hoping it would be sooner as I was looking for the set before New Years. Well unfortunately it did take a while, and on Dec 30th we received a call that our new living room had arrived and my husband made arrangements for Sawyers to deliver on Saturday. I was a little bummed that it hadn't made it in time for the party, but was excited I was finally getting my living room set that I had always dreamed of.Saturday morning, I called Sawyers to find out what time we were scheduled for delivery, after a brief hold I was told between 1pm and 2pm. At approximately 2:30 I received a phone call that the delivery drivers were 25 minutes out. No problem...I was just excited the furniture was coming. The delivery drivers arrived and began to bring in the furniture when my husband called me out to the living room. He said look at the "couch" section...its the floor model. It was easily identified as it was discolored, worn, and it was larger than the special order section. So I asked the delivery drivers where that piece came from, they hesitated to tell me. Immediately I contacted the store and spoke with Coston. He informed me that only a portion of the pieces had come in and they noticed it that morning so he sent out part of the floor model and the parts that came in.....that is FRAUD. Sawyer's has always been more expensive than most chain furniture stores, but we've CHOSEN to shop there because we believed in supporting small local businesses and had always found them to be honest....until today. Today we found that when a mistake was made, an honest mistake, the solution of the showroom manager was to try and deceive us. My husband explained that our living room was now empty and tried to work out with Sawyer's leaving their sofa until ours actually arrived. Coston would not agree since the sofa was white. So we've wasted 5 weeks and entire Saturday and now I have to drive to Virginia to furniture shop. It's sad to say but I guess the honest, customer service part of Sawyer's has now passed with Mr. Sawyer.

If I could give Sawyer's more stars, I would. From the time you walk in, you feel relaxed and comfortable. We ordered a living room set and it was delivered right away. I would highly recommend Darlene Tuttle! She will work with you and not pressure you into spending more money than you can afford. One of the chairs we selected was discontinued and Darlene was patient and helpful until we found another one. We will definitely be back for accessories for our new home. Customer service A++!
