Saté: A New American Experience

It's been a few months since I've been to Sate' (most evident by the menu swaps) but it's still at the TOP of my list. I didn't have a lunch cocktail today (just hot tea). I also didn't have an app but 2 others enjoyed the very tasty crab and corn chowder that is always delightful. I had the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, but of course no spicy honey for me. It's something about a nicely breaded chicken breast cooked to perfection with a chunky slice of tomato and just enough sauce to provide flavor. It was filling and a great choice. I also included a pic of the Shrimp and Grits that my friend really enjoyed. 5 STARS! The staff are amazing, the food is amazing, and Chef Kyle is AMAZING!!!!! I'll be back very soon!

Lovely little restaurant in City Center. Service is excellent and the food was heavenly. It does get very crowded so make a reservation.I met a friend here to celebrate her birthday recently. She was late arriving but our server was patient and accommodating. The portions were good size and the menu had a very good variety. It was hard to choose. It's pricey so be prepared for that. Part of the reason for that is the location in City Center. Rents are high, so restaurant and store prices have to be higher too.I had a harvest salad and the scallops, followed by the creme brulee. It was excellent. My friend had the shrimp and grits followed by banana cream cake. She said it was the best shrimp and grits she's had in years.Bottom line, I would go here again for a special occasion. There are only a few really nice restaurants in Newport News. This is one of the few.

I came here with my sister-in-law for a bonding moment. There's a good selection of drinks and dishes on the menu. I would recommend dinner reservations but if you don't have any, the bar is just as good. Byron was our server and he did an excellent job taking care of us. The food arrived in a timely manner and the flavor satisfied my sense of taste. Overall, it seems like a great place to meet up with friends/coworkers.

Love the set up! Did bar seating because why wait for drinks. The bartender was very prompt and attentive. The staff had great attitudes and you can tell they have a good work environment. The food was GREAT! And although mimosas were not on the menu they were available and many flavors to chose from. Will return!! Street parking or garage parking available if you dont mind a 4 min walk.

Brunched here and this seems to be the place to be in Newport News. There were people coming in, after church, couples and families. The menu offers something for everyone. I had the crab cakes Benedict and I started with the cheese fritters and a breakfast martini. Our server was great and the vibe was nice and relaxing. I will definitely be back.

This was our first time trying out Sate' went for a Valentine's Day weekend. Our service was very good even though our waiter said he was new. He was very informative about the menu and checked on us frequently. Love the atmosphere and the food was fantastic. I did make the mistake of ordering my lamb chops well done, but that was on me.

Nice chic atmosphere! And the decore to match. I've herd this place was the bomb. Place gets very busy so definitely make a reservation. The great thing is that they provide comp bread and butter. Most places don't even do that anymore. I order the "shrimp grits" and it very good mostly the sauce. I just had to soak the bread and get all that juicy sauce! I will definitely come back and try other dishes, but will come early for better seating.

Hubby took me here on my birthday. We were actually on our way to Williamsburg for the weekend but it came together perfect since we were on our way. Sate has been on my radar for a while so I was super excited! We got in immediately. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Our server Krista was wonderful. We ordered their sticky ribs and Brussels sprouts for our appetizer. They were delicious. And also beautiful played. I ordered the harvest salad and hubby ordered the wonton salad. My harvest salad was amazing. Since it was my birthday, I was given a slice of cake (my choice) complimentary. I chose the banana cream cake and they brought it out with a candle. This was the best banana cake I've ever had. I can't wait to go back when we're on this side of the water! Great job Sate!

We hosted our office holiday party at Sate', and it was absolutely fantastic! They prepared a buffet featuring: * Mac & Crab Salad * Broiled Mahi with Lemon Caper Roasted Tomato Butter Sauce * Seared Chicken Breast with Smoked Gouda Mornay * Hickory-Grilled Strip Steak with Rosemary JusEverything was cooked to perfection. Ray, our server, did an amazing job taking care of our group of 21, ensuring drinks were always refilled and the buffet stayed stocked.If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience, Sate' is the place to go!

Saté is a 10-out of-10 experience. My family has traveled to and eaten in restaurants across the world. Saté is a world class experience. The ambiance is fabulous; perfect for any dining experience. I must recognize our server, Eric; he was phenomenal. The food is so delicious that you'll have an emotional experience. The portion sizes are large, so be prepared to take food home. The price is fantastic considering it's enough food for two meals. There's a lovely bar if you want a less formal experience and a private room for small events. Saté is a gem in downtown Newport News.
