Ever since Sakura opened, I have been wanting to try it out and since I was craving sushi, I figured why not stop in. I arrived on a Sunday a little after 5pm and the restaurant was pretty empty so I was seated right away. The server quickly greeted me and provided menus for me to look over. I glanced the cocktail menu and went with my tried and true margarita and it was very refreshing. Since I noticed the Pungo Roll on the 'Specials Roll' display as I walked in, I decided to order that along with the Red Mill Roll. I also ordered the Spicy Salmon and Yellowtail Sashimi. When the food was served, it was almost too pretty to eat. The presentation was beautifully done. The sashimi was outstanding. If you love sashimi, I highly recommend the yellowtail, it melted in my mouth. The rolls were also just as great! The Red Mill Roll was good but the Pungo Roll was a 10/10! Everything tasted fresh and I believe I may have found my new favorite sushi spot. Overall, I was very impressed with the service and the sushi at Sakura. I'm so glad this location is close by because I'll be a returning ASAP. If you're in the area, definitely check them out, you will not be disappointed!

What a great experience. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a smile and a happy person. The great service did not end there. The waiter also had a wonderful smile and very helpful. He was so sweet that when he saw me taking pictures he brought me a couple of BEAUTIFUL flowers to put in my photo's. I am just in love with this restaurant. We were looking at the drink menu but since we were just there for lunch we both decided to come back at another time for dinner to get a couple of their drinks. They have a full bar and a wonderful drink menu. I can't wait to go back.The whole restaurant was absolutely gorgeous. I love all the lighting. Nice menu for lunch and they even have a lunch menu for the weekend. Some places don't do that. My husband got the 3 roll lunch special and comes with soup or salad. He got miso soup. VERY good. Nice size. My husband and I both had some. I got the Christmas tree roll. It was perfection. big in size and FRESH FRESH FRESH. It has shrimp and crabmeat inside YUMMM and like a lobster salad ontop. OH my goodness it was great. I shared mine with my husband and also was impressed. He got the salmon roll, good. the California roll, YUM, and the spicy tuna roll. He also shared with me and i liked all 3 but the spicy tuna was my absolute favorite out of the 3 and the Christmas tree roll was FANTASTIC. We are already planning out next visit.If you have not tried them they are wonderful. The service alone is so wonderful you have to go experience for yourself.

My mom and I came to the new location here at Redmill Commons that was down the street from our neighborhood and we ordered take out ordered the 3 sushi lunch roll I got eel, salmon and tuna roll and than the sashimi lunch special 3 chef's choice and 1 spicy. The service was nice the host talked to us while we were waiting for our order and very nice. The sushi was good for mine and my brother said his was ok, but he always said everything is ok so don't know his mind. The place was clean and very nice as well as beautiful.I would definitely go back to order more of other food.

There are several Sakura restaurants in the Virginia Beach area and several were highly recommended to me. We decided to try the new location in Redmill for lunch on a weekday.We really enjoy sushi, and when we enter any sushi restaurant, we like to pass by the sushi bar to see how the fish looks. At Sakura, the sushi bar was located way in the back, so we really didn't have a chance to look. The best sushi choice was the egg (Tomago) as it was very fresh and not too sweet. Also, the salmon skin roll was loaded with salmon skin and was an explosion of flavor. Unfortunately, the mackerel sushi was very dry, and the yellowtail seemed off color and too chewy.The iceberg house salad was a big disappointment because the dressing was watered down and flavorless.My friend had the Bento box which had salmon teriyaki, fried rice, fried dumplings, and several pieces of sushi. The salmon was clearly over cooked and dry, and the weak teriyaki sauce drowned the greens underneath the salmon. The accompanying fried rice was bland and tasted stale.The service at least was very friendly, but bordered on hovering. Overall, the atmosphere was very pleasant, but I don't think the kitchen has yet found its footing they just had a bad day. We do hope a future visit will show some improvements.

Came here during lunch with my bf, and this place is our new to-go sushi place! The building was nice and the staff were super friendly and very attentive.I ordered the bento box with teriyaki steak, and my bf ordered the 3 roll lunch special. (Philadelphia, salmon, and boston). He enjoyed all 3, specifically the Philly rolls, which had a nice smoked salmon taste with them. The order came with miso soup as well, and the price was modest for a lunch special.For my lunch bento box with teriyaki beef, it was such a good value. It comes with 2 gyoza, a bowl of rice, 4 pieces of California rolls and some stir-fry veggies, for only $15! The fried rice was very buttery and fresh. The cali rolls were fresh and not filled with just rich but the ingredients were big. The gyoza was crispy and tasty, and the stir-fry veggies were buttery and outstanding! I slasked for the steak to be medium rare, but it came out sightly undercooked. However, it still tasted good with the teriyaki sauce, but I will probably ask for a temperature higher than I usually get from other places.I would definitely come back to try other dishes in the future, and I can't wait!

We have been waiting for this to open!! We frequently go to the other Sakura location at lynnhaven pkwy so we were excited that a Sakura was opening up close to home. They have their soft opening right now so we decided to check it out. We arrived and was seated immediately. They gave us the menu and took our drink orders. When we looked at the menu we noticed that it wasn't AYCE like the other sister location. We were told that they use higher quality cuts of fish for their sushi and they wanted to try something different for this location. The menu is pretty extensive. Lots of different rolls to choose from and many hot items too. We proceeded to order and got the sushi special, hibachi chicken for the kids and the drama queen roll and shrimp tempura roll. The food came out and our server was right. Everything tasted soo much better. It was super fresh and delicious. This is our new sushi spot!! Can't wait to go back and try the other rolls. The staff was all friendly and our server was attentive and checked up on us frequently!! Great addition to Redmill!!!

One of the best sushi places out VB area !! Definitely give it a try . Lunch and dinner are great hangout spots for families and friends. Loved the atmosphere, nice and friendly faces to see ! As for the food it is fresh as can be compared to other sushi restaurants around the area, in my top 3. If you haven't yet definitely try their sashimi, fish is fresh and presentation was beautiful. Not the biggest fan of raw fish but their fish is great. As well as the sushi the "Drama Queen" and "Golden Lobster" were amazing! Will definitely be coming often all in all service and food was magnificent and the sushi bar was fast and super kind ! Glad we got to talk to the sushi bar chefs !
