S & H Produce

S & H Produce has a stand at the hybrid indoor-outdoor Virginia Beach Farmer's Market. It sells seasonal local produce, fresh eggs, and canned/packaged goods such as butters, preserves, and honey.-- The Produce --They said their corn was cut fresh daily, and it was delicious. I liked that not all of the produce was trimmed and further packaged. (Untrimmed produce can keep longer!) Our cucumbers were also wonderful. -- The Experience --S & H has well-spaced aisles and clearly marked prices. It is easy to navigate and access. The produce all looked to be in good condition. Staff were friendly and helpful. -- Seasonal Operating Hours --* S & H is open from April 15th through Dec 23rd. * Memorial Day - Labor Day Hours: Mon-Fri 10am-6pm; Sat 9am-6pm; Sun 10am-5pm. * Sept-Dec Hours: Wed-Fri 10am-6pm; Sat 9am-6pm; Sun 10am-5pm. (Closed Mon & Tue.)-- Cash & Credit --Credit card minimum is $10. No AmEx. If purchase totals come to less than $10, they will accept credit cards but will add a $0.50 fee. (Currently waiting on state approval for SNAP.)-- Things to Note --They have plastic hand baskets you can use while shopping. They have brown paper bags for smaller purchases but use plastic for larger items like corn, so remember to bring your reusable bags!

I love this place! In fact, I can't think of too many shops at the Farmer's Market that I don't care for. The people are generally so warm and friendly. S & H is consistent with their hours. It seems when most everyone else is closed, they are open. They have a great assortment of fresh produce, canned products, and vintage type metal signs. Often they have a goat that hangs out and a few other animals. It's fun to take the grandkids to visit. The people that run this stand are extremely friendly and always helpful. The prices are right and the products good. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for fresh produce. It's worth the drive.

Today we got a dozen farm fresh eggs, sweet potatoes and a few different apples at the S&H stand. Dan was very kind and informative on how to wash the eggs before using them and how to store them to maintain the best flavor. We will go back.
