Truly a music world. There was a nice variety of instruments and a good sale on records. I was able to pick up two records for $10 and I can't wait to throw them on and relax to smooth jazz. Definitely would recommend you stop by and support your local music shop.

Small, intimate place with the best staff. It's usually Russell at the counter. There's a limited, but interesting selection of mostly used stuff if you're a guitarist. Sometimes there are some wildly cool guitars on the wall. I've always found what I needed when I went there. His inventory isn't huge, but it's very well thought out. If you're a drummer, you'll love the place even more. This is always the first place I'll go if I need anything musical. Strings, tuners, tambourines, amps, parts, or just a couple minutes shooting the shit with the cool, knowledgeable musician/proprietor. Also, if you're looking for a luthier, they outsource to a skilled and straight-up honest guy. I've brought my acoustic and electrics there several times for work. Always happy with the results and feedback about my instruments. Forget the big chains and give Russell's a visit. Support local business, especially when the local business kicks butt like Russell's does!

Not a big chain, this is small indie locally owned store operated by real musicians and they are super nice and helpful. All the gear is serviceable and affordable. Can't say enough about this place.

I have know Russell now for, well, let's just say " Season of the Witch" was the contemporaneous jam tune.He has always been a devoted musician and ardent jazz aficionado. His success in retail instrument sales experience spans several decades as well - the past few in his own "world". As a man and businessman he is scrupulously honest. As a drummer he is top of the Go To list for local venue players. He is intelligent, highly knowledgeable and has a keen eye and ear for a fine vintage instrument. He supported himself playing and selling instruments so he thoroughly understands the gigging musician's issues and has solid, practical solutions, suggestions - and instruments. Russell's Music World also stocks many of those hard to find little items and "consumables" required to play, learn or just listen.RMW is a revelation to those accustomed to the fast food music store. You can FEEL the difference.

Looking for an instrument, lessons, strings, drums, accessories or music wisdom? This is the place to go. Way better service and nicer staff than Guitar Center. If Russell has it, I'll buy it from him every time.

Great music shop. I completely forgot about them until I needed a Suzuki violin book at the last minute. I didn't want to drive all the way to music and arts in Chesapeake. So they saved me! The shop seems pretty complete and they offer music lessons, too! Shop Local!!
