LOVED this golf course! Overview: ~We came here on a Sunday morning, and were able to play unpaired. ~Checking in was easy and pro shop has a lot of options for clothes, clubs, balls, etc.~Range balls are separate~Carts were plentiful and in good condition~Starter was SO king and informative~Informed of cart rules and pin positions~Range was in good condition and had grass tees and mats (depending on the day)~You can order food to pick up at the turnCourse: ~Course was so beautiful! It was cloudy when we went and it gave a links style experience~Tee boxes were in good condition and easily found a flat spot~Fast greens when they dried up ~Lots of hills and elevated greens~Challenging bunkers~Lots of natural foliage - just beautiful~Several blind shots (off the tee and fairway to the green)~Bathroom after 6 and 13, and after 16~Come back to the clubhouse at the turnWas so happy to play this course and had a great time!

Tough challenging course, be ready for tight fairways and doglegs Very fun with right mindset. Lost lots of balls but had fun on a great looking course Staff very friendly and accommodating Played early with no backup on any holes or pushy Marshall's Reasonably priced

What a shame. This is a great Mike Stranz track. Tough, but that's why we enjoy it so much. So why 3 stars? Well, the layout gets 5 stars. The course condition gets 3 stars - tee boxes were in poor shape and the greens had many unrepaired ball barks. The killer is, it took us 5.25 hours to play the course. There was a foursome ahead of us that was unbelievably slow - and there was no ranger to move things along. 1 star for service and course management. Btw, this was on a Sunday. The group behind us left on the 16th hole. The course is magnificent, but after our last experience, I'm not sure we will ever go back. Who wants to play a 5.25 hour round of golf? Not me.

Mike Strantz, sadly passed away, has created an amazing golf course! Royal New Kent is a very challenging layout which makes you make smart decisions of where, and mostly where not, to put the ball. I have played here many times before, and only once, in the winter time, the course was not in too good of shape. Every other time, however, I have been very pleased with my experience at Royal New Kent. The staff was always very nice to me, giving a nice Southern welcome. The bar area has a lunch menu, beers, and vending machines. The bartenders are very nice, and the food is great! Back to the course. The layout is very creative, and as I said before, challenging. Every hole is different with some sort of Mike Strantz twist. The course has some blind shots, unexpected surprises, and many greens where if you miss, you are off the green in trouble or have an 80 foot putt in a different area code due to your ball rolling down to a different tier. The greens are in good shape, and so are the tee boxes and fairways. The bunkers are deep and placed perfectly (not for the golfer though!) There are bathrooms and water coolers on the course. Royal New Kent is one of my favorite courses, but should only be played by experienced golfers who bring lots of golf balls. If you do play Royal New Kent, my tip to you is to take bogey and move to the next hole, if needed. Mile Strantz leaves you a lot of tempting decisions which he usually gets the last laugh on. I highly recommend Royal New Kent golf course.
