Roses is a discount store that offers a variety of items, such as drinks, snacks, food, furniture, hardware & auto items, electronics, healthy & beauty products, household cleaners, housewares, apparel, kitchen items, items for pets, school supplies, shoes, toys, and seasonal items. The place reminded me of a combination of Big Lots and Dollar General. It was slim pickings in the apparel section, and I wasn't a fan of the selection. We did get some toothpaste and cough drops that were a bargain.Just make sure that the cashier rings up the correct price for items; some prices are marked at a discount, but it seems as if it doesn't get applied during check-out. I personally take a picture of the price as a confirmation. The cashiers are friendly, and they will refund the portion with ease.Plenty of parking in the shared plaza lot.+discounts may not be applied during checkout - check your receipts!+friendly cashiers

Oh Roses! Bless your heart as you've been the pinnacle of department store goods before the almighty Kmart + Wal-Mart. This store is truly a timewarp to 1987. It's a good ol fashion store that has a mixture of men's, women's, boys and girls clothing in addition to shoes and apparel. One thing to know is that the fashion is not the most current and they are usually about 5 to 10 years behind the latest fashion trend. But you would think that would be the worst part but in actuality it is the coolest part because as you can see that they have slogans designs and patterns that are holding on as they are trying to fit in.Also know that not only are you going to get dated clothing you also find dated electronics that still has cassette players mind you you will find a few things that are current and up-to-date like a CD player and maybe just maybe if you are lucky you could also find a Blu-ray player but don't press your luck on that. Also know that there are a food pantry and there are also a home goods sections with curtains bathware and also some small furniture that you are also able to find in the store. They also do have seasonal decorations that are closely mimic to Topline decor.Note that when you walk in the store will always have a gloomy look no matter what store in the Hampton Roads location that you go to even we're able to go to a roses that was in South Carolina and it look exactly the same as the other ones that are in the location here so if you feel like it is just you it isn't. Always know that it will look a little dim in the store and look like the walls need to be washed but that's okay it's all part of the experience. So if you do get a chance and you want to have a free trip back in time writing your own neighborhood feel free to stop on by at the local store and get a taste of the past.

I remember going to roses as a kid with my grandma. Seemed to be a very cool store at the time. But then again target and Walmart hadn't blown up just yet. Now that those and similar stores are open, roses has seen better days. Still, I'll stop in every once in awhile when I'm bored. I'll find little things but never anything wow! I can't imagine they will be around forever. If I remember correctly they had all closed down at one point and now have seemed to come back here and another location in Chesapeake. It reminds me a lot of a big lots, which I also don't frequent as much now that other stores are open.

When we lived in Virginia Beach this was the closet Roses and each time I went I always found something. One thing about this store as well as all Roses is on a good day you'll find some designer closeout clothes and even shoes! I ran into some very nice Nine West strap pumps in black and silver needless to say I purchased both pairs! Regularly priced at nearly $70.00 per shoe and I paid $12.00! The store has so many things from clothing, housewares, gardening, furniture, haircare products and more. You simply cannot go wrong going to Roses. It's the element of surprise when you walk in as you never know what sort of deal you'll find in the gem of a store. The employees have all been very kind and professional so I've has no issues with that. Prices are good heck they are pretty much as low as you'll find .Don't pass this a tire up if you are searching for things like coffee nakers6, vacuums, even upholstery steam cleaners which I've also seen in Roses. It amazes me that the prices are this good. Now let me tell you this....I am one who believes you get what you pay for. With that being said here at Roses just because for example the dirt devil is $57.00 and at Walmart 149.00 you think it's better and will work better nope...I got an upholstery steam cleaner here and it works perfect no issues at all ...And it wasn't 149 buck either. Any hoot give this store a go if you haven't already...Save yourself some money to use elsewhere. It was great coming back to this roses on my visit. Lol its only been a year ! I will be back

Pretty nice selection of clothes. You can find some beautiful decorations. Their prices are really reasonable but sometimes the quality matches the price.

Not the best customer service. The cashier was the type who is annoyed and barely hiding it when checking us out. Even after patiently waiting a few minutes for her to finish taping a package and greeting another customer she knew. She made some passive aggressive remarks to my daughter , who was not in any way rude, so I had to give the woman a bit of background info to help with her perception of the situation. I'm sure it made no difference. It would have been a LESS than one star review, but the stuff we bought was dirt cheap.

The short foreign manager is not a very nice person. Seems like she is not a very good leader to work for by the way she talks to her employees in front of customers. The entire time I was in there I did not see her smile one time.
