Many generic OBX tees.
Sun Bum is a great product. The hand written signs degrade the product.
This store has more signs than I've ever seen in another store my entire life.

Bottom Line: There are many small businesses in Manteo and souvenir shops in OBX that earn their customer's business but this is not one of them.Roanoke Marshes Trading has customer service equivalent to a vending machine. Instead of interacting with customers, the store has decided to just post handwritten signs about everything, everywhere. I can't really think of a more obvious and potent way to passively, aggressively insult customers than to scotch tape handwritten signs to everything. Don't do this. Don't do that. Don't touch. etc. I was in this store for about 15 minutes on a weekday and although I was one of only three customers, no one even said hello to me. I enjoyed my slow stroll through the store checking out the merchandise and marveling at all of the off-putting signs. Having worked in retail in a bustling touristy town, I know first hand that customers can present challenges (minimally supervised kids, dripping ice cream cones, etc.) but rather than post signs all over the store I know that it's better to directly and kindly approach a customer with a smile, give them great service and influence their behavior so it's desirable. Roanoke Trading does have some nice brands and decent stuff so it's too bad they've cheapened the experience by all of their signs. I left the store empty handed but I have some great ideas on writing a business management case study.

This place has terrible customer service. We were told four times (with attitude) by the employee that she had a stick to get the dresses that were higher up - when it was obvious we were just fine without her assistance. Once would have been more than enough. Then my mother unfolded a tshirt and was refolding it when she was told by the same employee that she didn't know how to fold. All of this without a single greeting or a simple 'can I help you?'. I have been in retail for ten + years and in management for 5. This is ridiculous service, regardless of past experience. While I don't subscribe to the 'customer is always right' policy, I also don't allow any of my employees to badger a potential paying customer.

I agree with Amy! When my husband took a shirt off of a display hanger the clerk SCREAMED at him clear across the store! She was extremely rude to my husband and me. I had an arm full of items to purchase and put it all down and left! I have never been treated so disrespectfully in my life in any establishment! I WOULD NOT recommend shopping in this store!!

Both ladies made over our puppy dogs who were shopping with us. Extremely nice and helpful! Typical tourist shirts, etc but quality seemed to be better. Prices were reasonable. Enjoyed the visit.

Roanoke Marshes is like most beach town souvenir shops: shelves, racks and tables full of t-shirts, hoodies, stickers, magnets, sand shovels, flip flops, shot glasses, bracelets, key chains and other sundries with names or pictures of local attractions emblazoned upon them. A postcard and a trio of magnets ran us about $12, which seemed pretty typical of the area and souvenir purchases in general.

Would give less stars if possible. Not a very pleasant atmosphere. Very crowded as far as walking space vs merchandise. The layout isn't very accommodating. We went here as a family on vacation. We all carry cash on vacations as to not run up credit card debt. My 9yr old son wanted to purchase 2 outer banks stickers for his bicycle with his own money that he has saved up for vacation. Mind you that he pondered this decision for quite a while as he is very careful about what he spends his money on. These stickers came up to about $14 together before tax. He only had a $50 bill. His entire vacation savings. The store wouldn't sell him the stickers when he got to the counter and said they don't take any bills over $20. (Kind of strange since a lot of their inventory is over $20). None of us had bills under $50 for him to borrow and as I said, we carry cash on vacations. In the end, he had to leave without being able to make the purchase that he was hoping for with the money that he has saved up for months for vacation. He was very upset. This was late in the day. I would think that the store would have tried to make an exception for a young child trying to buy something with his own money. I am sure they were able to make the change by this point in the day.In the end, I would suggest you shop elsewhere. Somewhere that puts effort into customer service. It is experiences like this, that make people choose to shop online. If there is no customer service, than what is the point. It is more convenient and easier to shop online. More brick and mortar stores are going to the wayside and this is why.

ON 6/1/20 myself, my daughter and her friend went to this store to shop. As we entered the store, still coming through the door, the store manager (Penny) yelled at us about using the hand sanitizer to sanitize our hands before we shop. Mind you, we were still walking through the door and had read the sign but she decided we weren't moving fast enough I guess. Then as we are shopping Penny was moving about the store complaining loudly, using cuss words about customers messing up the folded t-shirts and the fact that the music in the store wasn't working. I have been to this store many times over the years but now will never return. Her behavior was unacceptable. We were never asked if we could be helped or even greeted properly by the other employee working. I felt like we were a bother. Horrible manager WITH A NASTY ATTITUDE, what a shame.DIRECTIONSSHARESAVE207 Queen Elizabeth Ave, Manteo, NC 27954Closed Opens 11AMHours or services may differ(252) 473-3377Suggest an editOwn this business? People are not very nice. If you are going to work retail in a tourist area, learn the words 'please' and 'thank you'.

The woman working was rude and would not allow us in store with a single collapsible stroller. If you have kids, don't shop here.

We were not allowed to enter this shop because we had a stroller. I have twins and could not leave the stroller and hold two babies at the same time. The employee also felt the need to tell this across the store, quite rudely too I might add. We understand the concept of strollers taking up a lot of room in the store; however, the customer service is quite lacking.
