Hubs and I decided to start going to random restaurants on Granby Street that we never visited before. This place was first on our list, we've been back a second time since then. Vibe is urban Mexican flare with hookah option. We enjoyed the dinner menu more so than the brunch menu. This is a trendy spot, where music and tv is always on. Although we had a good time this is a not a quiet place to go to on a first date. The servers are attentive and very friendly. Bartender has a generous pour and the chef truly loves his work.

Overall review: 3/5 the ambiance was nice I really like the inside decor. They have multiple flavors of hookah. The bar service was a little backed up but my waitress was attentive and had good communication so we weren't wondering where our food and drinks were. If you're in the downtown Norfolk area check them out.

A few of us came on a Friday night and we had a good time for the purpose if grabbing some food and drinks to get the night started. The atmosphere is a buzzy vibe with a nice mix of current music. There are music videos and sports games on various screens at the bar. The food was good. Customer service was lacking a little when trying to get drinks even when it wasn't very busy. We tested their unreleased (at the time) lamb pops, which still needed some work, but it was nice that they offered us samples to receive feedback. The crab cakes were decent but the mashed potatoes needed some work as they didn't taste like they were made from scratch. My friends enjoyed their meals. Noteably the Lamb Burger was seasoned well. The hookah was nice, very strong but not harsh. Solid place to check out for a few drinks and good food with friends before a party or for a night out.

Mannn, What is this weak ahh dish? Supposed to be lemon pepper lamb chops but it looks like my 5th grade public school cafeteria lunch. It came with "French" style fries but y'all gotta excuse MY French because this shih is NOT bussin. It is salty as hell but not nearly as salty as I am. Change your restaurant name from Republic to Dictatorship because I did NOT choose to be ripped off like this. Wish I could take this sorry ahh dish back to your kitchen.

Review from Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022.Really wanted to like this place but it was a complete disappointment. -Ambiance: nice interior decor, greeted promptly at door, Sunday NFL on the TVs, but the music was deafening. Restaurant empty except for small group at table by back. -Drinks: looked like decent selection but stuck to water.-Food: first red flag of many--I was provided packaged plastic utensils, which is a clear indication of owners trying to save $ or be "efficient" at the cost of class. This is tacky and contradicts the vibe/aesthetics this establishment is trying to produce. Please don't sprinkle old bay around the brim of a dish to make it appear elegant, this does not work with old bay nor compliment the dish. Same goes for the flower, GET IF OFF THE PLATE (watch any restaurant show and you hear the same feedback from Chef Ramsey, John Taffer, Robert Irvine, etc.) The grits were a solid ball--have never seen this interpretation. I do mean solid; not creamy, not flavorful, not smooth, NOT EDIBLE. Completely dry, clumpy and bland. The sauce tasted like old tomatoes, metallic-like, and bland with a hint of old bay. The shrimp and lobster was not fresh at all, chewy, off-putting, and the shrimp was not deveined giving it that extra crunch/grittiness (not flavor) from the shrimps intestine (aka the "poop tract"). I took three small bites and returned the dish.Waitress/bartender was very kind and understanding--she offered a refund but I declined, and even tipped her. This establishment has a long way to go if it wants to remain competitive on Granby. Drive down a few blocks and a number of restaurants are packed with patrons. Clearly, those other restaurants are doing something right.

Came here with my cousins for brunch on a rainy Saturday. We arrived sometime after noon and the place was completely empty. We were seated immediately and provided with menus. We decided to order the Mimosa Tower since there were 5 of us. We managed to have two drinks each... not bad but I prefer my bottomless. Wanting something light I decided on the Cinnabon French Toast meal which comes with your choice of meat and seasonal fruits. I went with bacon. The food was not bad and more filling than I expected (but then again I don't eat that much). Overall it was a chill little vibe.

TOTAL Vent.I attempted to patronize this restaurant today. I'd looked at their menu and saw they offered a "Lamb Burger;" I love "Lamb Burgers." So I drove to DT Norfolk. I Parked. I Paid for parking. I Went to restaurant. Once there, was told it was "closed;" that they "were not doing lunch that day." A Friday. Staff person shared that "they had an event last night" and that (someone) "...didn't show up today." Ok. Effort. Time. Money. Wasted.

Wings and plantains 10/10! The Rasta pasta is also good and little spicy. Plus they have hookah and reasonably priced drinks.

Went bar hopping and ended at this lovely gem. The vibes are amazing. Everyone in the bar was very nice and chill. The hookah was good the watermelon flavor is THE best. The night manager made sure we had a great time. I also enjoyed the music and the tv screens having the music videos going. Sometimes it's very overwhelming when every screen has a game on or some random show. So I only know this place as a night bar and my entire group of people loved this place. Would recommend. I didn't see any other review mention they have hookah so I am hoping I have the right bar.

the wait was over an hour long and we had to check in about it even though they said they would call us. the lady sat two other groups before us after telling us she was cleaning our table. she then sat us at a small table that wobbled. there were 3 of us. when we asked to move she used her hand to dust off the table next to us and it wasn't even clean. it took ages for them to even get us water and even longer to get the food. we went for breakfast but the wait was so long that they switched us to the dinner menu as we were about to order. i wanted brunch. we wanted brunch!when it finally came out, my cousins dip was rotten and the food was a joke. not good at all. they also had plastic utensils in packs instead of real silverware??? for a place that presents as chic and classy, it's super ghetto. did i mention its also basically a club with a bad dj who talks too much over the music. lol so even if i was tryna turn up it would still be mid. total waste of time and money. I would not recommend.
