The Regence Room serves the best lunch at Colonial Williamsburg, and I liked the entrees. Jackets and ties are only required at dinner.

What a lovely breakfast we had. We both opted for the breakfast buffet. It had many traditional items and some unique touches of twists and changes to french toast, etc.It is not cheap but if you want a fine dining experience, this is truly one of those experiences. We loved it.

New Years Eve Gala... The food was delicious. The service was bizarre. We sat for a long time with nobody even noticing we were there. We had to say something the the manager. He was very gracious and got our drink order and opened our wine and put in an ice bucket. Nobody ever came to refill our wine glasses. This was a seven course dinner, $225 per person, missed one course completely. The servers seemed like they were so confused and didn't know who they were supposed to be waiting on. The band was great. Overall, we had a good time. However, don't think we will do it again.

Very nice atmosphere, live musician, large dining room, entirely windowed hallway. The waiter was kind but the food was slow. The portions were minuscule and the entire bill (for breakfast with 3) was 100$!

I think it is important to visit the Regency if only to support a dining room and restaurant style that will soon be gone. The food is excellent, but I feel a bit awkward since all the patrons are wealthy Caucasians and most of the staff are of African descent. Perhaps reminiscent of old Virginia?

Very nice Sat night event with the Jazz band but the food was very pedestrian grade. Disappointed in food temperature and lamb was dry. Expected way more.

The food was sub par and the service was slow. Two salads were wrong, a burger was undercooked and a side dish never appeared. For the price, the ambiance of this restaurant is not at all worth the money.

Wife and I dine here at least once a year on any visit to Colonial Williamsburg, most recently on December 6, 2015. (First was our 20th wedding anniversary in1988.)There were a few rough years awhile back, however, a new chef was brought in and the menu is once again a real treat and includes a chef's tasting menu option. The food is excellent. Service is good and best described as old fashioned southern. Wait staff is very friendly but could be considered a bit slow if compared to a Fridays or Applebees. That said, we have never had long waits or lack of attention. Server is always at the table shortly after we are seated, specials reviewed, and cocktail order taken. Cocktails are delivered promptly. Dinner arrives in a timely fashion, followed by coffee and dessert. (Staff will always recommend the hazelnut ice cream cake- order it!) Staff definitely allows 2 hours for full dining which is appreciated as opposed to the usual 1 hour or less provided by modern restaurants. We will be back. Again and again.

Everything wrong from get-go. Called a week ahead of time to see about Christmas Eve Dinner. They had no openings, which was all right, but it was clear from the tone that the woman I spoke with could care less. Several days later, stopped by to see what was possible and low and behold the same woman was there (easily to recognize just from the voice). She was again brusque but said we could come Christmas day at 6:30 (wound up putting us in the hands of another, perfectly delightful woman). Come the eve of Christmas day, we had to wait in the bar nearly an hour before they came to get us. Service was slow. When we asked to be allowed to just have a drink before ordering, the waiter was obliging but no sign of him after that for a good twenty minutes. My wife's beef medallions were cold. I asked if the potatoes were warm, but she had a hard time finding them. Bread pudding was dry and lifeless. The quail I had for an appetizer reminded me of KSC. Oh, and that woman who was dismissive over the phone, she seemed to be the hostess but no response when she came around and we complained about the service. Just seemed to walk around being bored and minimally concerned about what was happening to the guests. The management of the place needs a very good shaking up. It's a lovely old room and the pianist was great, but the service was extraordinarily bad, not because of the staff (well, maybe with the exception of that one woman) but clearly because of the way it's being managed. Oh, and the food was mediocre at best. Could and should have been a whole lot better.
