Ray's Pizza

If New York City and Italy had a culinary baby, this place would be it. The lasagna? Imagine layers of meat and cheese playing Twister, with just enough pasta to keep the game decent. I dove into the Italian Trio, where the chicken wore its Italian breadcrumb coat like it was heading to the Met Gala. The meatballs? Crafted in-house with the kind of love you'd expect if Nonna herself was in the kitchen. And the Stromboli - let's just say if pizzas had a rockstar cousin, this would be it. Sure, you could find cheaper pizza, but why settle for cardboard when you can have a canvas painted with flavors? This isn't just food; it's an Italian masterpiece on a plate.

Didn't like. Went based off of yelp review. Pizza was okay. Nothing to write home about.

I recently tried the Mediterranean pizza at Ray's Pizza and found it quite enjoyable.The crust was nicely baked, being both crisp and chewy. Overall, it was a satisfying meal with fresh ingredients and a well-balanced taste. It's clear that Ray's, as a local business, prioritizes using fresh ingredients, which made a noticeable difference compared to what you typically get at chain restaurants.

We used to grab food from here... but I ordered a chicken dish, and what I put in my mouth was not chicken. I don't know wtf it was. Spit it out and that was it for me. Never again.I did give an extra star bc the spaghetti and pizza was fine.

Rays pizza is great. Best lasagna in Hampton roads. Meatballs are made in house, and the salads have perfect produce. Even the vinaigrette dressing is made in house. This is an old-school Italian style from New York City so if you're not used to that be prepared it's different than the cheaper places that cut corners. This is old school and it's really good.

Ray's has the best Italian food. I always get the Tour of Italy which is the lasagna, manicotti, and stuffed shells. Or sometime instead of manicotti I get the baked ziti. The sauce is so good. Way better than your big chain restaurants. It's made when your order, it's always hot, fresh and just good. The desserts are the best. The tiramisu is the best I have ever had. I highly recommend Ray's. The best mom & pop Italian restaurant in Chesapeake.Ray and his staff is so friendly. You are welcome from the time you walk in.

This place has gone downhill fast, (MOLD AND ROACHES). The last time I went in there, multiple employees were talking amongst each other about their checks bouncing. I left on hold for over 10 minutes and had to call back to get my order taken. The food is hit or miss and I caught a picture of the mold on the wall. Ray was scratching himself and pulling up his pants, then preparing food for customers without washing his hands or putting gloves on. I talked to some of my friends/neighbors about this place and they have heard about ROACHES around the kitchen! I tried to call the Health Department a few weeks ago but they claimed to have the place "flagged" already, whatever that means. The owner (presumably Ray) doesn't even seem care about the state of things and no one that I have contacted has done anything about it. So I figured I would let you know on here.In summary: There is mold and cockroaches at this place and it continues to have them. No one in enforcement will do anything about it and the owner continues to let things get more disgusting. (this place sells FOOD?!)

The food for reason is "HORRIBLE" now!!!!! The Pizza crust was soft on the bottom, it looked as thought my toppings were an after thought, they have lost a customer.

Love Rays! Consistently the best pie & subs in the Grassfield area. Staff is amazing. Ray is ALWAYS there working his ass off. Thank you sir for a great neighborhood restaurant that isn't a chain.
