Ray's Italian Water Ice and Custard

I don't know if Ray's is a nation wide ice cram place but it's for sure a favorite in Richmond! It's so nice that you can get Italian ice AND custard! They so many options. My sister is obsessed with Ray's. They are just a window that you order from just like a Brusters. They don't have great outdoor seating but they have a few benches. You can also just walk around and look at the other shops around too. It's a little neighborhood lots of apartments and shops. It's in west broad village. they don't have great parking right in front of it. But they have a parking lot for the public behind them.The service is fast! I got this peanut butter, chocolate with Carmel it was delicious!!

This place is phenomenal! Outdoor seating only. They seemed really popular and had a line, but the staff moves thru the line very fast. So be prepared to tell them what you want! They have extensive menus posted up so you can easily see. I got the frozen custard with caramel, hot chocolate, and brownie and Oh. My. Gosh. It was delicious! They give you a large portion, big bang for your buck. Didn't think I'd be able to finish it all but it was so good I couldn't stop eating it. They staff are friendly and super efficient! It has a classic Henrico VA wholesome family feel. Will definitely be coming back!

This is a cute little neighborhood ice cream spot. Very nice place to bring the family or a cute date outing with your bae. Now this is an outdoor place, with seating to sit and enjoy your cold treat.You order at a take out window. The staff was younger but polite. The portion sizes are large, I ordered a small cone and I couldn't finish it. Only thing is you don't have control over your ice cream like you do at say Sweet Frog. But definitely worth a try!

Ray's Italian Ice is a local treasure! Their Italian ice is flavorful and refreshing, with plenty of options to choose from. The treats are delicious, portions generous, and the staff always friendly. A must-visit for a sweet pick-me-up!

For the money you get some good quality frozen Italian ice and ice cream (sugar free option too)!

Finally made my way to Ray's this past Monday, 7/3 as I am always on the lookout for a good soft serve with topping options. The walk-up window had no wait and we were given fast, efficient service. I had a vanilla cone with rainbow sprinkles and my bf ordered a chocolate milkshake. The shake wasn't much of a shake but more like stirred soft serve. Maybe it needed more milk? My cone was creamy goodness and the sprinkles reminded me of the excitement of childhood! The only problem was the warmth of a 90° plus degree day .. My cone melted VERY quickly, sending a good majority of the sprinkles to the sidewalk below. Too bad they don't have a small space to eat in for days like this one.

First time in Virginia and my boyfriend took me here for a nice desert. Absolutely delicious!!!

Rays Italian Ice on Lauderdale is the perfect spot for a summer sweet treat.Just what my wife and baby were craving! We will definitely be back.

Nobody does it like Ray's. I moved away after HS for college and went on to live in both Southern and Northern California and Tennessee (Nashville) for years, not to mention traveling about the country +'world. When I'm home visiting my family, though, I always hit up Ray's because it's still the best I've found anywhere, not to be missed. I seriously go here an embarrassing number of times a week in the summer, whenever I'm in town. Especially as these summers get hotter and hotter , it's ultimately more of an excuse for me to head to Ray's for a Ray's Rocket. The water ice is delicious and the flavors are fun and tasty. I prefer the citrus flavors, primarily tangerine and lemon, but I've tasted most of them and have yet to taste one I don't like. I get the vanilla custard and it is SOOO good. Best custard ever.
