Rare Olde Times

The service is always personal, pleasant and engaging, and the Fish and Chips remains some of the very best in central Virginia. Lovely pub interior with a consistently nice fellow patrons and a fun trivia night on some Tuesdays.

We had a good time on our first visit to Rare Olde Times.It had true pub vibes, a rarity. Food was good, beers were poured well.There is a kids menu too, so for our three little ones that was a good surprise.The reason I knocked one star off is that the service was inconsistent though it wasn't very busy when we got there early on a saturday evening (we showed up before 5). It was my husband's birthday so we decided to get dessert too. Our server described a milky way cake they had (like a milky way bar but in a cake) and we ordered a slice to share with the table but fifteen minutes later desserts finally came out and it was a cup with angel food cake, whipped cream and fruit instead? we asked, is this the milky way cake? and the waitress delivering said yes and walked away. We just ate it but it wasn't what was described to us, so I think they must have been out of the cake and given us something else without saying but just tried to pull it off? Strange. After we got the desserts we didn't get checked in on again and had to flag down a different waitress when we couldn't see ours for our check so we could leave.

Trivia night... Wednesday! Placed was packed but totally fun! It's always a good time at Rare Olde Times! Such a rustic, cozy feel! We got the scotch eggs (again!), bacon ranch fries, fish & chips, and pretzels/Irish cheddar beer cheese! Yum! This place was rockin and rollin! We had a blast!! And of course Tom got a Guinness!!

Happy to report they have a full bar and make excellent Old Fashioneds! The staff there are absolutely WONDERFUL-even as busy as they get (this place gets packed)! Everyone around us looked super happy! Fantastic experience for a Friday night!

I have only been to this location twice but I love it! I hope to be a regular visitor.They have great atmosphere and decor for an Irish pub. They have Irish beer on draft... a fantastic red!!!! The food we had was very good and the service is good. The staff are super friendly! They have live music several nights a week plus when there is no music they have several tvs with soccer or baseball on. I bet this place would be great to be at for a world cup soccer game!The place is located in a strip mall area with plenty of parking.Definitely get reservations if you are going on a night with a popular local band!I am looking forward to going back already!

Always a good time. Good food, good live music and a great staff! Call ahead and reserve a table when a popular band is featured, as the place fills up quickly.

The food is good for what it is. It is not a five star restarting but good portions and good flavors and prepared correctly. Service is good. I would go back and if somone is looking for a pub setting with some above average pub food the place will not disappoint.

The menu has awesome entrees! I meet friends there usually once a month. Most recently I had a Rachel sandwich with onion rings. It couldn't have been better. The wait staff is outstanding! The Irish pub atmosphere is most enjoyable. Although I do not have a TV , I find myself watching their fine flat screens. They have several! Sometimes there is live music!

Trivia night is a blast, and Mac is a fantastic server! Ask for the pickles, you won't be disappointed.
