Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Virginia Beach

Our weekend getaway was fabulous. I went thru Booking.com and reserved a place here in VB. The room is clean, simple and not a whole lot of unnecessary furniture or bed accessories. We checked in around 5:00 pm and Jessica was very professional in getting our reservation taken care of. If you are planning to do your mini vacations. Ramada Plaza is the place to go. Beach goers knows what I am talking about. Your hard earned money goes a long way with the Wyndham Hotels. We enjoy our stay here this weekend. Thank you guys for the hard work and teamwork you guys have. I will come again in the near future!

I'm a local but bestie and I wanted to be on the beach for VBJeepFest 2023 and keeping our budgets and location to host hotel (we scored! The host hotel was right next door!) In mind I chose Ramada Plaza via Booking.com. Yes, other reviewers are right-the hotel has seen better days, it could be cleaner (like not having someone's hair attached to the wall) and the beds could have been far more comfortable (both double beds were like sleeping on concrete) but the balcony room served its purpose with aplomb. We had multiple interactions with the front desk clerks as well as maintenance and I found them all quite friendly and helpful (they even gave us red ducks with sunglasses at check in-it's a Jeep thing) and after finding our fridge had defrosted & soaked our floor, maintenance was at our room within 45 minutes. They swapped that thing right out! The maintenance fella even cleaned up the water.Both elevators, while slow, were in good working order. I only found trash in the large bins located at the elevators. There were extra bags in the cans and notes in our room did tell us to leave full bags outside the door so maybe that's what other guests were talking about.As with all other hotels of this age, their parking lot is super small & only allows for 1 vehicle. The front desk clerks did tell us where we could pay for an additional spot so bestie's Jeep was not on site. It stayed in a covered lot and didn't have any damage to it the entire weekend.The only issue I had were our Willie Nelson-Snoop Dogg converts in the room next door. Everytime we stepped out on our patio we got contact hit with the stench of marijuana. What happened to the way it used to smell? This new stuff is rank!The morning of check out bestie mentioned to me that she was somewhat surprised that I booked us a room here as I am a Courtyard By Marriott or Hampton Inn woman. Not millionaires row mind you but also not normally a hotel of this age and you know what, at stays in both of those hotels I have always been subject to the noises of other guests. You know what I heard here? Absolutely NOTHING!Would I recommend this location based on my Jeep Fest stay this past Vererans Day? Yes, absolutely.No hotel that you're getting an oceanfront balcony room for the rates we did are perfect. If you want that, pay for it.

We had a wonderful stay. Rooms have been updated and are clean. Check in was seamless and the staff was very friendly every day. The Ramada Plaza is not the newest hotel on the block but you cannot beat the price and the views. Our room was equipped with a microwave and a mini fridge that could fit enough food for our family for a week. The beds are comfy. Mattresses have been updated along with the carpets. They have rooms with ocean views so close that you feel like you can almost reach out and touch passing cargo ships. We woke up every morning to watch the sun rise and to see birds diving for their breakfast. You are steps from the sand at this location. Parking is free AND there is additional parking at a lot owned by the hotel across the street.

I'm absolutely heart broken:( New owners! This time I booked it online instead of through Julie like I did for years. I went with friends instead of with my entire extended family like I always did. This stay was an absolute disaster. It's gone downhill so badly so fast! :( I'm so sad because this hit me right in the childhood :( I was literally coming here before I was born. The rooms were drastically run down, there was sand in the carpets, carpets smelled moldy, bedding was worn-out, towels worn-out, pillows smelled, pool area trash full of bees, parking lot jam packed like they weren't checking passes, partiers all week not just weekends so it seemed less family friendly... I could write a book about how different this stay was. Sadly I'm 99% positive this was the last chapter of ever staying here again. My friends hated it which was embarrassing after talking it up from past experiences.

No hot water in my shower, had to ask repeatedly for roll away bed and then again for linen for said roll away bed. Front desk phone not answered.

Second stay at this Ramada, loved it last year! Great location, reasonable rates compared to other VA Beach hotels, but we will not be coming back. Maybe under new management, but not clean this year. We thought the high humidity outdoors was what was causing our room and stuff to feel "damp". Ended up something (ac unit?) was leaking water and the carpet on that side of the room got really damp, squishy under our shoes. Last year, we loved the restaurant in the hotel, Fish Tails. Inside looked pretty clean, but sitting outside was yucky. Cigarette butts on the floor, even with "no smoking" allowed. I think they were pretty short staffed, not busy but slow inattentive waitstaff. Our waiter was also the bartender, and he had a scowl on his face the whole time we were there for a meal and the next day when I got a cup of coffee to go. It would be amazing if they would renovate this hotel! Like I said, the location was great, right on the boardwalk with oceanfront rooms. They could also use friendlier staff at the front desk.

The hotel is extremely dirty and poorly managed.The hotel seriously needs to evaluate options for improving general cleanliness.Had one of the worst experience in my life.Staff are terrible....front desk guys were worst and indifferent..i went with family and they have no consideration...rooms are worst quality.Room was dust central, dust had settled everywhere and even after us wiping it off with some baby wipes it would re settle. Under the bed was filthy with dirt and dust looked like it had been forgotten about by the cleaner.I wanted to write more but i think it is waste of time.

Room was small but clean enough. No staff speak great English booked this room through Booking.com and completely paid and did the pre check in the night before which ended up being a complete waste of time because I had to go through it all over again when I got there. The lady at the desk insisted that I had to pay my balance again and it was a bit tense until someone else came over to her computer and showed her that I actually did pay in full prior to our arrival. The hotel is actually split into two different properties one across the street. The second property is the one with the outside pool. There is a parking garage across the street also. It was a mediocre place to stay. Will not stay here again though.

No hot water.. I woke up with migraine at 2am needed to get in shower to find no hot water at all! Picked up phone to call front desk and phone broken!! Checked cords and ,nope, just broken!!! This on to of the fact we paid extra to upgrade because the one we booked was nasty and scary looking. Only to find this one was nasty and not at all as pictured!! Broken glass on balcony, pubs on bed.. we bought new blankets at store to lay on!!! Told staff and they refused to do a thing! Told me should be hot water, phone should work, balcony should've been cleaned and beds too!! They weren't!! I'm not a picky hotel guests but we were robbed!!

My husband participated in the Polar Plunge events and was given hotel vouchers for the weekend so we decided to stay at the oceanfront instead of driving back home each day. The hotel is pretty old and not very clean but we decided to stay anyways because it was free. We checked out after staying one night because we woke up to a roach crawling in the bed. There was also feminine hygiene wrappers behind the nightstand.
