Pungo Sports Bar & Grill

I heard that Pungo Sports Bar & Grill had great burgers. It lived up to the hype!! Great happy prices on the drinks, too!

Excellent service even though they were very crowded. People were friendly and karaoke was fun. I will definitely be coming back!

We need more dive bars in Virginia Beach. I mean good ones that are not too raunchy, but still have that feel where you know your in one. Pool tables and pinball machines are a must. Also regular folk sitting around the bar with country music is a nice touch. Yeah my first time at Pungo Sports Bar & Grill and this is a dive bar. But wait, there is more so read on.The location is in the heart of Pungo off Princess Anne Rd in a strip. It was dark and rainy so it much to see if it was kept up. However, it should be large enough for a crowd they would have unless possibly live music draws a big crowd. There are chairs out front that serve as the smoking area. I did not make plans to hit Pungo Sports up tonight, but circumstances led me to them. After hitting up 412Q for take out I needed a table. So I saddled up to a table and began to chow. The waitress was cool with it and I ordered a Budweiser in bottle. They have a full bar, but do not expect fancy craft choices. If they have tap I did not see it. They do have a food menu. The female bartender was sweet. The drinking/dinning area was pretty clean. Tables and stools to sit on with a small bar. Two pool tables and darts take up the front room. A pay digital juke box played a mix of customer choices from country to classic rock.Before departing I chatted with the bartender and got a shock I would have never expected. As a matter of fact I was positive she was pulling my leg, but no. Come January they will convert the business into a farm to table restaurant with a hunt club theme, at least that's the working decor. The same owner will turn the place from dive to fine country dinning. Then the kicker, Kevin James of Commune who has New Earth around the corner will be involved at minimum as a consultant. I must say as much as I love a great farm to table I was a bit torn. Virgina Beach needs more dive bars.

Just had the most wonderful experience at this place! The atmosphere food and of course drinks were legendary! Make sure you get the breakfast burger and spicy Bloody Mary! You will walk away with a full belly, new buds and a nice buzz!

Oh my gosh, I just had the Humpty Dumpty burger and I swear it's one of the best hamburgers I've ever had in my entire life. Patty was perfect, bacon was perfect, egg was perfect, fries were perfect. You have GOT to come try one.

After a long day, I stopped down at Pungo Sports Bar for an ice cold beer and a burger. I'm not fancy. Food was great and the bartenders were even better. Always worth the stop, thank you.Dan ( at-large)

Great atmosphere. Definitely a local hangout. Everybody knows everybody (we are just passing thru) Nice beer selection. Had the meatloaf special. Excellent. It's the Wed special. Highly recommend

Definitely worth stopping in. Great atmosphere, food, and service! Shrimp tacos were delicious!
