Prince George Family Barbecue

This is a bright and homespun eatery!Wait staff are kind and efficient, the atmosphere is clean and well kept. Food is out of a family kitchen with generous portions.Highly recommend this comfortable restaurant. Barbecue was excellent and many daily specials. Very reasonable prices.

Not sure what's going on at this Family owned BBQ restaurant I've loved for so many years. I have been going to prince George BBQ since I moved to the area in 2011 and they used to be my go to place for BBQ and great food all around. My last 2 visits reflected a significant drop in the quality of the food has really gone down hill. I have not done breakfast there is a while, but lunch and dinner are sorely lacking . It pains me to give a bad review to a place that's been so good for so many years and I love supporting family owned businesses, but there are many more family owned BBQ restaurants in the area that are so much better.

This is a place we have visited many times over the years and frankly, we have never had a bad meal. No matter if it was BBQ in the afternoon/evening or their breakfast. Today it was breakfast. The wifey, a friend from out of town, and I all had one of today's specials - a sausage and cheese omelet. We all thought it was decent. I did think they were a little stingy with the cheese. The friend and I had toast and potatoes and the wifey had potatoes and a biscuit. She says the biscuit was really good. Like homemade. Not dried out or overcooked. As for the service today or any past visits. It has always been really good. The ladies have always been attentive and friendly. I will also say the meals always come out quickly. I do recommend you stop in and support this restaurant.

3.5 stars. Mac and cheese not baked but tasty. Reminds me of velvets type. Dinner rolls yummmy but slightly burned in the underside. The special was Chicken Dumplin but honestly it was chicken wide noodle soup. It was yummy in it's own right with the fresh cilantro but it was not the creamy type I was expecting. Overall I would cone back but maybe try something else. Service was great!

Pulled off the highway to get a break from the rain and decided to stop in here. Wow. I ordered the minced brisket sandwich and it was so good I didn't want it to end. The staff is friendly, the sweet tea is perfect and the bathrooms are super clean!

It's one of my favorite road stop spots by far! Really good BBQ, very convenient and tasty for breakfast. Counter people are helpful. Last great food stop from Richmond to Waverly.

Food was very good and hot. I usually test out the Ruben sandwiches wherever I go and I must say that theirs is exceptionally good and their fries are hot.

This is down-home cooking. In fact, I consider it top notch comfort food. The service was very good--friendly, courteous, and timely. The food was delicious and abundant. I especially enjoyed the country fried steak with gravy and the fried okra. My wife's barbecued chicken sandwich was also excellent. The deserts are delicious and big enough for two to share. The decor is appropriate for the food. You won't find fancy table cloths and linen napkins here, but you will find a comfortable place to eat, friendly people, and food that will satisfy.

The food here was sub par. The ribs instead of being properly brushed with sauce they just squirted some on top. Mac and Cheese equivalent to a generic dry boxed version. The cornbread was fine and the butter beans fine but under seasoned. We ordered mozzarella sticks and they were good as well. The sweet tea was watered down. It's obvious these guys are cutting corners wherever they can. Service was fine but the mozzarella sticks and entrees all came at the same time. There was only one other table at the time so not like they were rushed. When you go out to eat you desire an enjoyable atmosphere right? Having Fox News coming at you from both sides of the restaurant is not my idea of a pleasant atmosphere. So now I'm eating dinner with Laura Ingraham spouting off whatever conspiracy theories she's floating for the evening on one side and watch Houston flooding on the other. Whatever political views you might have don't rub them in my face and hold me hostage to them while I'm attempting to get whatever enjoyment I can from my sub par meal. I always try to support local restaurants and had been wanting to come here. What a disappointment.
