Pollard's Chicken

A fantastic journey into yesterday, complete with music from 1970s -80's mellowing in the midst. I dined on their award winning fried chicken with a baked sweet potato and mixed greens, all of which was simply tantalizing to the taste buds. Pollards, your close to me, I'll be back.

My family and I drive by year after leaving another restaurant. We turned into the parking lot and once inside already felt that the energy here was goods. This place reminds me of "home" in North Carolina. Everyone greets you including customers and staff when you enter. The cashier immediately asked us if we were ready to order and when we said we needed more time she politely let us take our time. Once we order we sat down at the table and our food took about 10 minutes to come out. They brought it to our table and everything was hot and fresh. They chicken was hot and crispy. The okra was good but needed a little salt which was easily remedied. I honestly didn't care for the mac and cheese I prefer baked. The puffs (fried biscuits) cake with honey and were interesting. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area. Great service and good food!

9/6/2023 was the my last time doing business here. Was in Norfolk did a drive by at 2:20 pm saying to myself I can run in and out and beat the tunnel traffic.Place my order waited almost 40 MINUTES. All I ordered was 3pc wing dinner & small order of livers 3 customer came in after me and got their orders first.One of the orders was wings. I didn't leave there till,2:58pm of course ended up sitting in traffic..

We had lunch here today after church service. We chose to eat in. We both had the 3pc chicken dinners with green beans and potato salad. The chicken was hot and seasoned very very well. The green beans were also seasoned and delicious. For me nothing taste better than hot seasoned fried chicken. I told them my hat off to the chef. I always love going to this restaurant.

Now no disrespect to the other locations but Ballentine is the best Pollards. There is nothing like there breast on bun!!! The chicken is crisp and juicy!!! I decided to be fancy a added lettuce and tomato. My mom has me addicted to this sandwich. I heard the boneless is good, but for me I'll take my breast with the bone

8/22/20: I've given this place so many chances since my first review & the food has been inconsistent. I'm always in this area & when I have a craving for livers/gizzards, I prefer to come here vs. Feather due to their portion sizes. I got here today & they were following the Covid guidelines. Masks are required & they had table sections blocked off. There was in restaurant dining available as well as carry out. I got chicken liver/gizzard mixed with Mac'n'cheese & a fruit punch. It also came with 1 puff. My daughter said the Mac was good. I don't eat that. I loved the livers/gizzards and puff with honey. The food was fresh this time - HALLELUJAH!! The service was good. - HALLELUJAH! The service was fast. - HALLELUJAH. If they keep going on this track, they may eventually get a five star rating out of me. Until then, I'm bumping them up to 4.

This place consistently makes perfect fried chicken, with all the proper sides. The staff is warm and friendly and efficient, and even when the Sunday line of customers gets long, the service remains the same. I had a large to-go order and it was prepared fresh, packed to go at the exact time requested, piping hot. A true Norfolk treasure.

I love Pollards chicken and was so looking forward to dinner tonight. The chicken was tasty as always but the pieces we received tonight were so tiny, that even though they gave us an extra chicken leg (I'm sure to make up for the tiny size of the pieces), there was very little chicken to enjoy. Puffs and sides were good as always but when you spend $28 for a chicken dinner for 2 people (8 pieces of chicken, 2 medium sides, 4 puffs, tax), you expect to have CHICKEN, not a little bit of breading and meat with more bone than anything else. Very disappointed, Pollards. Also, because the pieces were so small, they bordered on being overcooked. You really need to step up your game....Sorry, I should have left this review for the Pollards on Tidewater Drive, not Ballentine Blvd.

I used to love this place. I haven't been in a while so ordered lunch today. The gizzards were soggy and unfavored while the mac n cheese was just velveeta and elbow macaroni even the green beans tasted like paper. My daughters chicken while bland was fried crisp so id give this place a 2 out of 10 wouldn't recommend.

This is the place for classic fried chicken and sides. Ordered online, smooth and easy. Everything was perfectly done, I got there a few minutes early, they were double checking my order was accurately provided. The folks are friendly, and the food is great. Online promised ready at 6:31, got at 6:28 :)Go to place when I want old school good food!
