Poe's Pub

Excellent food at a reasonable price. Got a pastrami sandwich and a half rack of ribs. Staff was super courteous as well. Gives mom and pop vibes on the inside.

Sliders/burger bites - I can literally only eat one just because I don't eat much. (You get 3). But it was very good. FF - good they are fresh cut fries, yum Sweet tea - delicious Everything was good, people are nice and good customer service. Check em out!

"Once upon a midnight dreary" or perhaps it was earlier, we came upon this humble, melancholy restaurant which drew us in with its old spooky signage. Poe, the man, was a genius with the macabre...his hauntingly eerie style beckons you into a somber place. Poe's Pub, however, while dim, moody, rustic and cozy is full of life and is usually pretty busy! It was not "many and many a year ago" since we've been to this iconic RVA pub! I love the cottagey style white washed brick building with the ominous gabled roof. The first hurdle is the parking... downtown parking is a challenge, so if you are "never more" inclined to find a spot, you can always Uber!! The few spots out front are typically full, and be careful for the traffic on Main St. (I love the added outdoor patio/porch space!)"I've [not] lov'd alone" the delish club sandwiches because they are a customer fav here! These triangles of art are stacked high with the usual suspects: ham, turkey, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato - and I like mine on the marble rye! It's a Poe must! That's a helluva good sandwich! I've gotten it with the crispy onion rings and the fries, which seem to be fresh cut with the skins (even if they're frozen, they are yummy)! Hubby gets the Reuben, which is hefty and a tad on the soggy side, so maybe order the dressing on the side. It's a huge sandwich though and sinfully tasty!! And of course a Guinness is the beverage of choice, dark and chilly like Poe's writing! The menu has clever offerings and any Poe fan will love trying all of the options! The prices are not at all mysterious, and Poe's pocket, while scanty, could even afford the food at this local eatery! This is a spot that I also like to bring out-of-towners since it's also near the Poe Museum, Shockhoe Slip & Bottom, Rocketts Landing, Libby Hill Park, and has a nearby view of the James! Love all the history and mystery surrounding this cool hang out! "And, in parting with you now, thus much let me avow" that we will return once again to Poe's Pub and perhaps even see a Raven perched on the flagpole!

The Reuben was solid. Plenty of meat and good flavor..the fries were trash I put them in the air fryer and they were way too salty..they were out of onion rings

Poe's pub has great food. I had the Prime Rib French Dip and it was incredible. The onion rings were very good as well, and battered onion rings are always the best. I like to dip mine in ranch, but their ranch was a little thin. The service was very kind and helpful, but they were rather busy when we went, so it was a little slow at times. They have a great little patio area, but smoking is allowed on the patio, so be aware of that before you make plans.

The food was delicious! We got the hush puppies and pierogies to start. Both were perfectly cooked. I got the Reuben which was super tasty. Plenty of protein and the bread didn't come out soggy. I subbed onion rings instead of fries. My friends got fish tacos, a French dip, and a pulled BBQ sandwich. The fish tacos and French dip got great reviews from my friends. My one friend said the BBQ sandwich was a bit fattier than she would've preferred. Our server was super attentive and had great recommendations. They kept coming by to see how things were and filled up our water whenever it was low. I drink a lot of water so usually places can't keep up. :)The parking is a bit difficult as you have to pull out to a blind curve, but one of the staff actually came out and helped us since someone blocked us in. The inside is sort of "divey" if that makes sense, but it has a unique charm. This worked out in our favor since we came from a workout class and were not dressed for anything fancy. We came around lunchtime on a Sunday and got seated right away. It started to pickup a bit when we finished. You could tell they had a good number of regulars that started to come in. It's right next to Libby hill park if you want to check that out after for some nice views.

This is a towny sports bar.I came here with low expectations. Poe's Pub almost met them.

One of my Favorite restaurants in RIC. Wonderful Meatloaf and fried oyster dinners. Good stick to the ribs food.Great daily specials. Good chef. Service is primo. Ambiance is cozy around the bar.

We just popped in on a Saturday night. No reservations required as it was a beautiful day and there was plenty of porch seating and restaurant seating. The food was delicious and plentiful. They were sold out of their corn beef egg rolls, but we look forward to coming back for a try. The service was fantastic! We found a gem in Richmond. When you need something good and quick, this is the place.

I'm from the UK, so am pretty familiar with a "proper" pub. This has the vibe to a decent extent. Service was super friendly, fast, warm and just chatty enough. Jalapeno poppers were amazing! Most places they're ok, but honestly these were just superb! Then I have one of the best Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches ever, my wife had the Club which was also great. Fries were perfectly cooked if maybe a little salty, but no complaints. Price is reasonable. Will go back next time we're in the area.
