I've never heard of Pitt County before, but they've made a name for themselves in my book! The barbecue was very tasty and well seasoned. Although I saw red pepper flakes, it was more flavorful than spicy, which I was happy about. It did come with a hot pepper sauce for those who enjoy additional spice (not me). The Mac and cheese was really tasty! Very cheesy with a smoky taste. The beans were also great, with a smoky taste. The staff were super nice as well. She explained the flavors of each side to a tee. The four stars is because the servings were so small. I wanted more of each side!

This BBQ food truck was out at a volunteer event I attended. The staff was wonderful and I enjoyed the food. It smelled good all over the field once the grills were fired up. I had the captain Jack (I think) combo. It was pulled chicken bbq with slaw and smoked pineapple. I got the sides of smoked pineapple and beans too. The bbq was had a great taste and paired lovely with the pineapple and slaw. The bun was a basic white bread bun and it was a bit cheap and plain. I would have preferred a lower profile bun with flavor and less bread. The smoked pineapple was awesome. The beans were nice, but nothing special.Ultimately I would try something here again, hopefully in a larger portion. This sandwich and sides cost me $20 which seemed expensive. Even with inflation.

It's fourth of July weekend and that means fireworks and food trucks. Well that was the case for the hubs and I. Covid restrictions have decreased to the point where gatherings are encouraged after vaccinations, and holidays can finally be celebrated with loved ones. My better half and I headed out to Smithfield 4 hours in advance to park our car. We hoped for a good spot as it was first come and first serve to view the firework show. Since we had hours to burn, we walked over to the trucks. The hubs gravitated to Pitt Country Barbeque and I to Black Pearl. I noticed the lines were long, but it was impressive to see how fast both food trucks were working to accommodate the masses. The hubs ordered the "Burrita" a 14 inch burrito loaded with mac and cheese, choice of smoked meat brisket or pork or both. Then it is drizzled with fireball whiskey sauce, and wrapped in what they said on their menu "warm deliciousness." He opted for pork, paid, and then gave his name for when his order was ready. Not even 5-10 minutes with a long line at their truck, his name was called and a gentleman exited the truck to walk over, and hand over the burrita. That A+ customer service!!! I was still waiting on my food from the other truck.Once we got back to our car, I immediately opened the Burrita to take pictures. My hubs had the first few bites before handing it over to me. Let me just say that pork was damn juicy, fall apart moist, tender and oh my gosh just let me at this Burrita!! The smoked mac and cheese was genius to pair with. It was cheesy, and I loved it in addition to the pork. The drizzle of whiskey sauce was perfect and enough to appreciate. The tortilla used was warm, and great to eat on the go. I believe this is a new food truck on the scene. I recommend looking for them on Facebook and Instagram. I hear they do catering so that's great for celebrations or even lunch.Look forward to eating at Pitt Country Barbeque again!! Check them out if you hadn't already

My foodie friends always think I'm crazy out and about in the 757 scouring for new food trucks. I scored big time on a new truck to the Hampton Roads area. I found Pitt County BBQ at the Bayside Harley Davidson dealer in Portsmouth. The smell of the awesome q from their smoker waffled through the 5 acre complex. Of course there was a line on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Lot gif folks out looking for new bikes and enjoying fantastic food truck barbecue. What immediately struck me was how clean the trailer was, like new! The orange color was striking as well and drew my attention from the road. I just had to try them out. Once at the window a female staff directed me to their menu and was kind enough to direct me to their best seller the pulled pork. I ordered a combo with sides of baked beans and macaroni & cheese. Also a bottle water. All transactions are automated and can apply tip. Prices were in line for a food truck. In no time my name was called with everything bagged up and plastic utensils. I popped the lid open to the wonderful aromas. The pulled pork sandwich was enormous, guessing a half pound of meat. It was two inches thick. A sweet in-house BBQ is in a container along with slaw. I set my sandwich up with a small amount of their sauce which is very thin and smelled yummy. The owner Wendell came out to say hello. They are a new truck that had operated in NC previously. The name Pitt County is derived from its namesake county that has a long history of award winning barbecue. That first bite of sandwich was heaven and I added more of the sauce. I decided to eat the slaw independently and just WOW on flavors popping out of the tiny cup. The beans were standard but good! The macaroni was prepared differently with the type of noodles used and offered plenty of cheese and nice flavor. However no wow factor but most certainly holds its own. If I had to do over I would have got slaw as a side. This is a must find truck folks. They began operations in 757 early this year and do catering as well. They also offer a few items of merchandise. I hope they come closer to my house, but hey I would drive again for them. Follow their movements on their website and Facebook page. Be prepared for an incredible truck meal.

Had this 2x- once at the IOW County fair got a bonsai type chicken sandwich (smoked pineapple that was so good). Had it again at the Peanut Festival in Suffolk where I got the honey bunches of oats. Pulled pork on a honey bun is so decedent. I'll be following these guys around.

Pitt County catered a friend's wedding I attended in Norfolk, VA over Labor Day Weekend. If you can either go to their location or crash a wedding where they cater, I highly recommend it. All of the meats were delicious, well cooked and seasoned. The pork was especially excellent and once they realized they could go for seconds, several of the people at my table took the opportunity. I can't speak to the catering process itself, other than to say my friend said they were incredibly easy and kind to work with.

WAY overpriced. Nothing special or unique. Beans straight out of a Bush's bean can. Pulled pork is ok but tastes just like what you can buy at food lion. The portions are very minimal. Dont expect to get full at all. One small bbq sandwich with a small side of beans and mac n cheese came out to $19.11 with tax. Unreal

I have never heard of them before but saw their food truck at back bay's farmhouse brewing company and thought I'd give it a try. I ordered burnt ends and pulled pork. I received fat glazed with sauce lightly charred and the fattiest pieces of pulled pork they could find.
