I really want to give a higher ranking because my daughter has enjoyed playing there several times. However - as a business, I can only give 1. My daughter was signed up for afternoon tennis camp the week of July 21. On the 18th, I was informed it was canceled due to too few people signed up and I'd be issued a refund.I have called 4 times to inquire about my refund. Of course, I get VM every time. No one has returned my call and I have not received my refund. I'm hesitant to ever do business with them again if they cannot follow thru on something as simple as issuing a refund when they fail to deliver a service.I'm hoping this review will get their attention and someone finally returns my call!

Pretty sweet find. Can't believe I drive through this place so often and never thought to stop and take a look. Located right next to Seatack Elementary School.Several tennis courts available, and they even setup a bubble on a couple courts for the winter - smart, inexpensive and efficient - to make sure they have at least two courts that are always ready to be used. The courts are a bit sandy but hopefully that was just a fluke as if it is a common occurrence, there could be some issues arising in the near future.Other than that, make sure you call in advance to book a court to make sure they won't be taken when you get there. They offer lessons too on top of renting the courts out.

Further evidence of Virginia Beach's excellent Parks and Rec system, Owl Creek is a very nice public tennis facility--inexpensive, accessible and well maintained. There are I think four outdoor courts and two indoor ones under a temperature controlled tent/dome thingy. There's a little shop there too that sells tennis stuff. My daughter did two of the kids tennis camps. One during spring break and one in the summer. She loved them. They host tournaments and offer lessons of all sort--including cheap group lessons on weeknights with no commitment. I've always wanted to check those out but haven't had a chance yet. The only thing about Owl Creek is it's kind of out in the boonies. OK, maybe not the boonies, but it sure feels like a hike.

A friend and I signed up for their co-ed beginner class. Classes are 90 minutes long and are held on either Monday or Wednesday. I feel like explaining the class is best handled as a "Day in the life" scenario. When I took my first class, we started with a light "Forehand and backhand" warm-up. Mind you it was my first time ever holding a racket, but fortunately the loaner was light and felt good in the hands (I've since bought my own!). While I didn't get step-by-step instructions, I was able to watch others and mimic their actions. I received light corrective suggestions during the process "Don't choke up on that handle so much". During other exercises coach would periodically stop the class for either a quick one-on-one for someone who was missing a fundamental, or he'd bring the whole class together to point out something we were all failing on, "You should point at that ball as it's coming down at you, it'll make hitting it a lot easier!" Exercises are generally fast paced and require movement, you might be jogging to the other side of the court! The court is nice, although the climate for some was a little too warm (I loved it personally) and no easily accessible restrooms (that I've seen). But they do provide water during the class, which is a nice touch. This is a great place to start in your tennis hobby, the price is VERY reasonable, the accommodations are good, the coach is great, and the trainees are super (and modest)! They also have kid classes. For the price, quality of the coach and convenience / time slot, for me, this is as good as it gets.

I signed my son up for tennis lessons at Owl Creek with their pro. We showed up for the first lesson and the office had not informed the pro he had a lesson scheduled so he did not show up. I chalked it up to just a miscommunication. We then had 2 lessons in the following weeks. The pro did not show up for the 3rd lesson and again they told me they forgot to put it on the schedule. The fourth week we showed up and no one was there. My son enjoyed the lessons and they were kid friendly, but the office was very disorganized. I got tired of showing up unsure if anyone would be there. I asked for a refund for the remaining lessons. It took over 4 weeks and multiple phone calls to actual get the refund.

My son loves his tots tennis lessons. Although they stopped pro-rating their classes, we still like this place and appreciate the past generosity. The staff are great with kids and do a great job.
