Before I begin let me start off by saying that this review is based solely upon my personal experiences and my personal experiences alone, so with that being said let's begin!. I came in here for a business luncheon, a coworker recommended this place! The funny part is he didn't remember what the name of this establishment was at that time so he said it was located next to a pizzeria that I was actually familiar with because I passed by it on a number of occasions!.We walked in and we were immediately greeted by a waitress ( I am sorry but I can't remember her name)!.She was quite helpful and attentive our whole time there. After she asked where we wanted to be seated and sat us she brought the menus to the table ( she actually had them in her hand when we entered the restaurant so kudos to her! She took our drink preferences ( Arnold Palmer ) and came back to the table to see if we were ready to order or if we needed extra time to look over the menu!.We were ready to order so she took our order! ( I ordered the Parmesan crusted chicken breast entree that came with two sides) I got hand cut fries and Mac and cheese) she brought out refilled beverages without even asking, as a matter of fact she kept them coming and made sure we were not thirsty and continued to check on us continuously throughout our lunch. After she took our finished dishes and utensils away she asked if we wanted dessert, I was stuffed so I passed!. I can't give our waitress enough credit because she gave us exceptional service from the time we walked in until the time we departed the restaurant! This was my first visit to this restaurant, it had a great rustic look inside with the bar setup in the rear of the restaurant with surrounding tables! They have 4 gambling machines and 1 atm if you wanted to pull out cash while you were there!.I will definitely be returning because I was really impressed with the level of service as well as the taste of the food I ordered!. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a great meal and excellent service to go along with it!.

Service wasn't great especially during restaurant week when they're trying to showcase or encourage patronage. It wasn't that it was crowded at lunch time either but they only had 1 waitress for the dining area and the bartender tending to orders at the bar. Food was a 3. I ordered the ceasar salad. Typical. Then I ordered the brisket birria smash burger. While the concept of having the birria consommé to dip in was good, it was served in the littlest of saucers! And the burger and the brisket weren't seasoned so absent of enough consommé, it was bland.

Solid bar food for decent prices; super great for kids at least during lunch time. Standard bar and food stop, quick and easy with prices that were fair. No frills, filled my belly. We did a stop here after the children's museum and it was a good choice as we had a hungry kid. Quick service and kind smiles

Dad and I went to enjoy lunch and were surprised to find a pretty empty place. It was warm and definitely welcoming after the brief walk in the cold air from my house. From the smells of the wood burning oven to the softly playing music, it was perfect for a nice lunch. Our waitress was friendly and quick to arrive to take our orders. Dad and I both got some drinks and ordered off the restaurant week menu. Dad got the she crab soup and the club sandwich. He said both were delicious. I got the lumpia, which unfortunately had peppers in it. I also got the steak with parmesan risotto. It was topped with a peppercorn cream sauce and fried onions. I also got some roasted broccoli on the side in a balsamic vinegar, yum. So delicious. The menu includes a brownie sundae, which I took to go, and it was quite tasty as well. I have to say the raspberry crush drink that I got was quite the treat and made me feel very happy and floaty.

Service was good, food was just ok but I don't see a repeat return. Nice Olde town Tavern with great music playing. Floors and base boards dusty, woman's toilet wouldn't flush. Wanted to sit out on patio but smokers had it., it's way to small to allow smokers. But see for yourself, EAT LOCAL.

Great place to have a beer and grab something to eat. Awesome service! Good place if you are in the area and walking distance from the waterfront.

Okay, the value for what you get just isn't there. My friends and I ordered multiple appetizers (M-F is $7 appetizer happy hour). We got four fried shrimp .. which were tasty.. but 4? The wings were good and so were the steamed shrimp. But the oyster Rockefeller were the biggest upset. The oysters were SO small. I'm mad I didn't take a pic. Out of seven oysters (the chef claims he gave me one extra because he knew they were small and out of season.) How about we take that off the menu guys. Because $17 for six lentil sized oysters is not it. And then the chef said he would take a "little something" off and proceeded to take off $1.60. I'll just say it's my last time going there.

Soooo I don't normally post negative reviews on restaurants and I'm really hoping this was a fluke cause I love this place but..the other night I had THE WORST experience at the Public House at downtown Olde Town Portmouth. The server kept disappearing and when she was around she was dismissive and had a bad attitude to our group as a whole the entire time. I waiting 45 mins. For my beer cheese dip and an extremely watered down double shot of JD on rocks (that I saw sat at the bar station FOREVER) with I ended up denying both. I wasnt about to pay $10 for a messed up JD drink. The place was mostly empty. Only two short table tops and two tall tops ( one which was ours) and a few at the bar. When the server (she was short hair blonblonde lady with a nose ring) finally came around I let her know never mind could I just get a double shot neat. When I finally got it it tasted weird like it had seltzer water mixed with it. Believe me when I say KNOW MY JD! I don't know what happened. I will have to say, the food THAT WAS served was very good and yummy so kudos to the chefs! I've never had a had night there. I was a but sad and disappointed that night. I think the server was new but the drink was even bad too sooo not really sure what happened. I REALLY hope this was not the new norm becuase I go here all the time with my work group

First impressions were good, waitress came up with menus within a couple minutes of my party being seated, offered to grab everyone water while we were looking. They were fairly empty, but we had to endure a very long stretch of someone plinking inexpertly on their piano - eventually, i assume after a couple of the dozen-ish people there complained, they turned up the music. This made it more difficult to talk amongst ourselves and did not fix the issue of key-pounder mcgee, who somehow seemed to get louder like he was trying to make the rest of us suffer. I tried their loaded fried mashed potato balls- crispy bacon, well seasoned, everyone thoight they were pretty good. For the taste and the price (you get four decently sized pieces) I will still probably not bother with them again. I got the French dip with au jus, it comes with one side. I ordered the hand cut fries as well as an extra side of broccoli. I tried my friends mac and cheese. Overall, the mac and cheese needed salt- it was creamy but very bland without it. Both our sides of broccoli were a bit overdone and also needed seasoning. The fries were decent and fairly crispy. The sandwich, i had a couple bites. The beef was thickly sliced, tough and with gristly bits that turned me off pretty instantly. The jus was pretty bland too. The cardinal sin was the waitress who chose to pop over, ask 'how is everything?' And walk immediately away without waiting to hear anything. She was inattentive, despite the lack of a crowd and when the bill came and I told her the sandwich was pretty much inedible to me, she could seemingly care less. No manager came out to speak with me. Needless to say, despite my friends prior amazing experience, I won't be coming back. Hopefully you have better luck.
