Old Point Comfort lighthouse is on Fort Monroe I did drive right by it the first time because I was expecting it to be on the water side. It's actually sandwiched in between two houses, but if you're walking around I think you would have noticed it quicker than driving. Either way, a beautiful drive or a beautiful walk

The lighthouse has excellent views of the surrounding water ways and a knowledgeable guide to inform you about the history of the area and lighthouse itself.

This is a beautiful old lighthouse on Fort Monroe which has been a National Historic Landmark since 2011. This lighthouse was built in 1802 and is listed as the oldest building on the base. If you like lighthouses, especially old ones, you'll think it's beautiful. You can't go inside without prior permission and an arranged tour (if they even do that anymore) but it's in deliberately run-down aged shape and is worth a visit if you are already visiting the area anyway. Plenty of parking and within easy walking distance of the beach. The light still functions at night as a navigation point.

Not exactly sure why this was only given 2 stars. The lighthouse and landscape both were beautiful. Now I realize this can only be seen from outdoors. Still it deserves more than 2 stars even for the upkeep of the landscape and views alone. We came in the spring. The flowers were blooming. We paid a visit on a weekday. Next to it was the light keeper house. It did state private property. So it was not available to view. You could still take pictures from the outside. Directly across the street is the amazing view of the water. Plenty of parking available and you can take a nice stroll to catch the views and Sunray. We stopped by here on our way back to Maryland. I have a thing for lighthouses. So definitely on my list for returning while in the area. Overall I'll give it a 3.5 rating.

Beautiful landmark and worth a stroll near if you're visiting the Casemate Museum or touring Ft.Monroe. One of the oldest structures on the East Coast, and still operational as a navigation light at night. Other attractions on Fort Monroe include Oozelfinch Brewery and excellent swim beaches. If you want a non-traditional experience, this is one loaded with tons of history for a quiet afternoon. I recommend getting food in Phoebus and bringing it over for a picnic on any of the public grounds that are available to tour.

Another historical marker in Fort Monroe, this one needs a touchup in front of the Old Point Comfort Light. It reads:"The lighthouse, built in 1802, is the oldest standing structure at Fort Monroe. It remains an active navigational aid, the property of the U.S. Coast Guard. During the War of 1812, the tower was used as a lookout by a British invasion force while they attacked Washington. The adjacent house was the lightkeepers' quarters until the light was automated in 1973 when the house became Army property."
