NouVines is a must visit on your OBX trip. This place opened 3 years ago and it is wonderful. The people who work there were great at giving wine recs and we enjoyed chatting with them. There's a couple tables and a lounge area inside and it looks like an area set up for live music. They don't have a kitchen but you can buy cheese, meat, olives, pretzels, etc and you can bring your own food. The flights are reasonably priced, prices are clearly outlined, and the pours are heavy. Will definitely come back here when I am back in the area.

Great spot in Manteo! The owners were very personable and knew a lot about the wine. We stopped here on a whim and will make every effort to come back! The building is from the 1800s with only some additions. Very cool vibes.

NouVines seems like it's a fine spot if you're a local. Despite advertising the Thursday Trivia Night on outerbanksthisweek.com's Night Life secton, where there is no mention of reservations being required, reservations are, in fact, required. Allegedly, "everyone knows" reservations are required. My family comes to OBX every summer. We visited NouVines for a trivia night last summer (2023) and there was no mention of reservations. We hadn't made one. It didn't come up. We stayed and played and while the service was meh-- we actually joked to ourselves that it was probably because they smelled the "not from around here" on us-- it was fine. They were busy, after all, it was trivia night. However, there are little secrets to trivia that we learned after the fact, like bonus points for buying drinks at half-time, that seemed like something that should have been mentioned before the game started. But is that the business's fault? The trivia host's fault? We didn't think much of it at the time, though in retrospect it seems like another mark in the "tourists not welcome" column. We laughed it off and moved on with life and figured that at least we knew for next time. So here's next time (2024) and it's clear now that our instincts were right last summer. We walked in about 20 minutes before trivia was slated to begin and there were no tables open, but we didn't have the kids with us, and there was plenty of room at the bar. There were unused chairs stacked in the back, but again, it was a kid-free date night and standing would have been fine.First, the trivia host-- who I realize is not an employee of NouVines, but don't worry, an employee will make an appearance-- straight up laughed at us and pointed out that reservations are required. We probably looked a little dumbfounded at that point because a woman who worked there came over and asked if we needed help. We said we had hoped to play trivia and she began shaking her head, "Nope, no, you have to have reservations, and before you ask," she nodded at an empty high-top behind the host, "that table is taken.""Are you s--""Yes. There's no room for you. If you want to play trivia you have to have reservations. Everyone knows that." Well, no, everyone does not know that. So we stood there like a bunch of doofuses feeling more and more like the butt of some joke that only the people there -- who clearly all knew each other and the staff-- were privy to. There was no "let's try to make something work" or "you can stand at the bar/in the back/to the side/etc." There wasn't even an apology or an attempt to pretend at sympathy. We were stared at until we awkwardly backed out and wandered up the street to Kill Devil Rum, which we've been visiting for years and is always a delight. (And before y'all swoop in and point out that the actual NouVines listing for Trivia Night says "Be sure to reserve your spot!" sure, okay, but that's not what Facebook/OBXthisWeek and every other spot the event is listed says. Also, that's not the same thing as "reservations required."So, you know, fool me once, fool me twice blah blah blah. Rest assured, we got the hint and there will not be a third time.

Absolutely gem with wonderful wine and friendly people. I love the concept of bringing in small batch wines - and those that a bit more conscious of sustainability. We went for flights and enjoyed making our own selections. The staff was great at providing wine recommendations and back stories to the wineries. They've got a great bottle selection to purchase to take home. We had already eaten but they do have charcuterie boards!

Great find yesterday while wandering around downtown Manteo. We love wine and we're happy to stop in. We had a bottle of Merlot and a bottle of Pinot noir both of which were good but the noir was definitely better. We ordered a charcuterie board which was good too and bought three bottles to give as gifts for friends that had joined us on the trip. 4 stars because several of the wines we tried that were from behind the bar tasted much past their point of drinking and were quite "vinegary" despite the argon gas seals the owner said kept open bottles of wine for up to 30 days after uncorking. Otherwise, great vibes and met some cool locals!

As we were leaving Manteo we decided to give this place a try as many businesses were closed on Monday. They were open and we really enjoyed the experience. The wines and beers were delicious. The cheese plate was very nice and tastefully done. The owners of the wine shop are very accommodating, attentive and friendly. We enjoyed chatting with them. Very nice people, for sure We wish them the very best and much success in their new business venture. If we lived in Manteo this would be our go to place , no doubt. Next time we are in Manteo we intend to stop by.

Wonderful atmosphere with plenty of seating and space to move about the wine bar. Expansive selection of wines on display for purchase and a cozy sitting area with a couch + big chairs and fireplace tucked off to the side. The owners were so sweet and attentive to us while we sipped a glass of wine; they even offered us a special pairing sample, complete with a ganache-filled strawberry! Wonderful, laid-back wine bar with a friendly staff and plenty of wine options at your fingertips!
