During a visit to the Outer Banks, we were in search of rainy day activities. I discovered the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island. It was about a 30 minute drive from where we were staying.I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was a lot bigger than I assumed it would be, and there were a lot of activities as well. I also appreciated learning about the all Black Coast Guard of Pea Island. As I've mentioned in previous reviews, I love learning history in creative ways and places I wouldn't expect to. I was also impressed that you can tour the area where they rehabilitate the sea turtles, and everyone we encountered was friendly and open to share information and answer our questions. This was a great family day that created wonderful memories!

We had the best time exploring the aquarium with two toddlers. The tickets are reasonably priced. Gives parents the perfect indoor activity if you want to do something different than the beach. All of the exhibits were well maintained and offered a lot of different animals to see. All of the exhibits were staged in unique and cool ways. They had interactive rooms (sting ray pool and a turtle rescue section) for the kiddos, which was a great way to keep the kids engaged. We came in the off season on a weekday and it was perfect! Only a couple of other groups were in the museum, which allowed us to really explore. The staff members were all very nice and eager to share info about the animals.

So we needed something to do while killing time on a Monday afternoon. They try to limit the amount of traffic with ticket times, but it was bit crowded for me. This aquarium is pretty small compared to others I've been to. The fort fisher location is a bit bigger. I did enjoy the outside pier area and the jelly fish exhibit. Other than that nothing too thrilling about this aquarium.

What a great way to spend part of your day in the Outer Banks! If you love aquatic animals, you'll enjoy this, regardless of your age!I think my favorite part was actually getting to touch a sea urchin and a sea star! But I very much enjoyed seeing the space where they care for sick and injured sea turtles as well.Stop by the gift shop for fun souvenir, and don't forget to add a donation for this very worthy non profit.Make sure you reserve your tickets ahead of time during the busy season, otherwise you can reserve them from the parking lot during the off season! Oh, and that's a good point, it's open during the off season as well!

Nice aquarium especially for littles. My toddler loved seeing all the fish. They have turtles, stingrays, crocodiles, and a few sharks. It is not a large aquarium. We finished it in an hour but it makes the perfect trip on a rainy day.

For what it is, the aquarium was nice. We were expecting something larger and grandiose. Great place for little kids to go to though!

If you want to have a great time and see some cool stuff, go here! This place was so cool and there was so much to do. The gift shop is a little overpriced and if you want to go somewhere on a rainy day, go here!

Cute little aquarium! There's not much to see here compared to larger aquariums, but they only charge $13 or so for admission. They recommend that you reserve your time slot in advance. They have a turtle hospital there, but right now they only have one patient. The shark room is the best tank in the complex. There are little activities for kids to do here and there. It was a nice place to visit since the weather was not great for going to the beach. They do have a snack bar and decent bathrooms.

This location of the NC Aquarium offers a wonderful opportunity to see and learn about the aquatic ecosystem of the Outer Banks. Exhibits include alligators; snakes; sea turtles; all types of fish, including sharks; and crustaceans, and much more. Staff and volunteers provide scheduled educational sessions as well as answering any and all questions you have. We especially appreciated the sea turtle rehabilitation area. The corresponding exhibit is a great learning opportunity for kids of all ages.

I absolutely love this aquarium. It's a great bang for your buck. It's the perfect size with salt water and a fresh water side. It has trails outside and a beautiful dock on the sound. One of my favorite places I have to visit when I'm close by!
