Nori Japan

Nori Japan... was probably the first place I ever tried teriyaki chicken all the way back in 2003 or 2004. I was blown away and by high school I was a fixture there ordering the teriyaki chicken with double meat, on rice or noodle, with no veg probably two to three times a month until I moved away. Then every single time I'm back home the first place I stop is at the Chesapeake Square Mall and sure enough the familiar faces that have been working and owning Nori Japan for years are there to greet me, they still remember my order, and the teriyaki sauce is still my favorite in all of the world and I've had teriyaki chicken in places all over the world from Tokyo to Bangkok to hell London to Hollywood and still... Nori Japan Chesapeake holds that #1 spot for teryiaki chicken for me.This place is an institution and a corner stone of the area. A a true blessing of a restaurant, I can promise yall that.P.S. if yall could tell me what your teriyaki sauce recipe is since I live across the country now... I'd kiss yall lol

Food is good, service could be a lot better. The female behind the counter can not take orders or admit when she is wrong. The chef heard my order but the owner did not ring me up for my dumplings. Then she Trenton make it seems to be the customer fault. How is it my fault her English sucks, and she doesn't understand.

I've been coming here for at least 4-4 years and I enjoy it! Food: the food is pretty good when consistent. Lately, one of the cooks will overcook the chicken and that bothers me. But, I typically interrupt and let them know not to burn it. But overall, good place to eat, cooked fresh, and freshly cooked veggies. Service: they are friendly and once they see you often they remember you and your order. Nice people. Ambiance: this restaurant is located in the mall so there is no real ambiance per se. Typical mall set up. Nothing special.

Super convenient place for a quick meal. Prices are very reasonable for the amount they give, and the teriyaki chicken isn't exceedingly sweet but just perfect. Always on point frfr

The chicken was very tasty and I got the sushi as well and was pleasantly surprised of the quality especially from a food court mall. It's nice for a quick easy tasty bite of food.

Being from the south and never hearing about this restaurant before, I instantly fell in love with this. It's located inside of Chesapeake square mall. The food has great taste. No need for that extra sprinkle of salt and pepper. Everything cooked to perfection! I'll probably eat this s*** everyday now! Lol

I've been going to this place for awhile now. Out of all the food spots to eat in the mall, this is probably my favorite. However, you need to watch what you eat here. I can only attest to the Teriyaki chicken that they give samplers out for. I've seen other stuff and I don't know if going outside the scope of the chicken is a smart idea.My order is usually the same, Teriyaki chicken, fried rice, vegetables, and double meat. They are dead on consistent and really good at keeping the portion size the same. The only fauxpas is the service at times can be pushy. Although, I think it's just their way of trying to make $$. About $12 for a chicken teriyaki and lg iced tea and they're both good. Big serving of teriyaki. They give you a card that they initial every time you buy one, and once you have 5 you get 1 free.

First time trying this place, we got the chicken teriyaki and we'll we were disappointed, while the chicken is good, the portion was very small, we ordered for pick up and once we got home and opened it the rice fills the container 90%, veggies are 6%, and chicken is only 4%. We got one without veggies and that one looked that same with the chicken. At this time they're closing at 6pm and we ordered at 530. Idk if the closing time has anything to do with the portion sizing but for 9 dollars we spent on each of these tonight, we'll probably travel to Virginia Beach from now on.

I understand everyone is raising prices, but to lower the quality and quantity at the same time seems bad for business. I don't mind paying the price for a good meal but over $50 for three carryout meals with double meat(not) /rice. With less meat than regular meat before the price hike. I even expressed my disappointment in hopes they would make it right. I was the only one there and the cook pushed a pile of meat to the side of the grill, they took no interest in correcting my meal. I have frequented NORI in the past but I've eaten my last meal from there tonight.
