Caught the sunset kayak cruise with a friend. It was $50 a person and we traveled with a group up the Lafayette River for 75 minutes. Our tour guide was great. He taught us the basics and let us chill at our own pace. This was our first time. It's a very easy and still river. We got a little wet from the paddle dripping water into our boats as we paddled from side to side but other than that, we stayed dry. Saw some dolphins and talked to people sitting on the fishing pier as we cruised by. We had a great, relaxing time. We were always within view of the group, but my friend and i trailed behind and just took it easy and caught up on life. The views alone were worth it. I'd highly suggest this.

They were extremely flexible with our reservation. We booked and then the weather was not great. They called me back and adjusted our date willingly. Then, the following day, my husband had a work obligation and we asked to change the time. Every step of the way, they were accommodating and cool!

Everything was easy! My first time Kayaking because my Daughter wanted to go. Everything you need to know is on their site. I reserved a tandem Kayak, paid online, and received my confirmation, which included the waiver. We parked on Colley ave (no actual parking at the site, but it's right off of Colley ave), showed up, they walked us to the dock, gave us a brief on the shirt walk there, provided like jackets, we hoped in , and enjoyed the ride. Definitely recommend.

Such a great experience for first time kayakers & loved that it was kid friendly! Registration & waivers we're able to be filled out online before we got there for one tandem and one solo kayak. Street parking only but it's free 2 hour parking and we had no issue finding any. You're gonna wanna walk down 45th toward the water, and meet the owner next to the kayaks located in the back of the driveway on the right. Super easy to find! Owner was super nice & explained everything very thoroughly before we began. Your time starts the moment you're released which was nice cause the safety instructions didn't deduct our hour. Water is very calm back there & we were quick learners. Had a lot of fun! Will definitely come back.

Nothing beats a soothing paddle on the Lafayette River in these stressful times. Easy in and out of the water. The friendly staff was masked, even outdoors. Will do it again and again.

While I was in town for a visit, I wanted to get out on one of the many beckoning waterways in the area. I decided to book a yak with Josh at Norfolk Kayak Rentals. Josh communicated well, was on time, and shared helpful and interesting info about the area. The equipment was basic but solid. Josh brought all the gear to the dock to see me off. The launch had one of those great ramps the city has installed, making getting in and out of the water super easy and relatively dry. After my paddle, Josh was ready and waiting to assist once again. All in all, a good experience.

This was the easiest planning possible for outdoor fun in Norfolk. After I went on-line to reserve a spot, I was emailed the waiver to fill out digitally, so when we arrived, we had nothing to do but get in. Josh met us at the kayak launch with everything we needed: kayaks, paddles, and life vests. He gave us options for routes that would take about an hour, and off we went! The water was smooth and easy, even for new kayakers. Our group of four middle aged people easily made it to the Colley bridge and back in plenty of time, even though we stopped to take pictures multiple times. We were treated to a unique view of Norfolk: one that is only available from the water. We sailed by majestic water fowl camped along the river, getting a much closer view than we would get from any other vantage point. As we were getting out, another couple reported seeing one of the dolphins that occasionally swim the river. I highly recommend Norfolk Kayaks for a peaceful, easy outdoor activity. Tip - Book 90 minutes before dinner to treat yourself to dinner afterward! The launch is right in the middle of a plethora of local eating spots. Josh gave us the rundown, and we chose Coach House, a restaurant new to us, and it was delicious! But if you do, bring a dry change of clothes just in case. I was the only one whose shorts got soaked, but a quick change in the car made for a comfortable dinner.
