You know, from the lobby this hotel looks NICE. Like, it looks upscale and modern at first glance. But you go any past the lobby, that all changes. First off, there was some kind of gala being held in the hotel. Someone apparently must have spilled their drink in the elevator because the floor was very sticky. We alerted a manager while we were on the way to the bar. After a little while at the bar we went back upstairs, and the floor hadn't been cleaned up. Not a big deal.... but when we came back downstairs the NEXT MORNING, it still hadn't been cleaned up. Gross. And speaking of the next morning, breakfast is advertised to open at 7am. Not the case. They opened the doors at 7:10 without an apology for the wait. They just said "Good morning, the hot food isn't ready yet." There was a whole group of people waiting to go in and they seemed to be taking their time getting the breakfast area ready. Also about breakfast, all I had was oatmeal which required the use of the microwave. The microwave looks like it has never been cleaned. IckI don't know. This hotel is deceiving. Needs to work on their customer service and cleanliness.

There are few times in life when you are as shockingly impressed by how bad a place can be as I was when I walked in this place. Wow. So, I'm here to do a few TV interviews and, wow. I can't seem to find the words to describe the place. The air handler in the ballroom is incredibly loud. We're talking 70 dB or louder. My sound guy just looked at me with a pained look on his face. This is gonna be a train wreck. We have a room where we are supposed to shoot another interview and it smells like old, dirty socks. On a positive note, the manager is very friendly and the staff are nice. It appears that they are doing the best with what they have, which really isn't much. If your budget for your wedding reception is $200, then this is the place for you. If you've got a bit more money, find another place.

Let me state I was looking at this place as a place to put my head. Here is the good...The front desk folks were very nice. The room was clean and the bed was a rock (I sleep best on a hard bed). It is right next to the Scope and two block from a light rail station and a bunch of places to drink and eat. Here is the bad...I could not find the ice machine on the floor I stayed on and I looked thoroughly. There was an ice bucket in the room, so if I was not going to have access to ice what was it really for? When I got there, after a long hot drive, I was looking forward to hopping into the pool to cool off. After see the pool water was green, I choose instead of a cold shower in my room. I was surprised that there was nothing floating in it dead. I guess the local critter know to stay away. The first half of the channels on the TV game came in great. The later half were snowy. The game scores were on the first half. Can not comment on...DId not use the Wi-Fi or the restaurant or lounge. Was planing to drink at he lounge, but since I was told it closed at 11pm and had an event that was going to get be back there at 10:30pm, I found a nearby bar that was open till 2am and drank there.

This hotel is all lobby.Wanna-be Art Deco lobby does little to change the atmosphere of a management and budget that don't care. Most of the staff I talked to were nice. One of the ladies at the front desk was very rude when I asked for a room change because I had no tv or wifi. She has apparently "worked here a year and I need to come down to the lobby to get wifi"My toilet blocked up from #1 only, seriously. Maybe the guy upstairs is the porcelain punisher. They did put in a tv the next day but I never got a new room.

This is an overall dirty hotel. I suspect this is a result of poor management and not the staff. Suggest avoiding.

After reading the previous reviews I was scared and tried to find every excuse to cancel but I went through with it and honestly...IT WASNT THAT BAD!! Sure the parking is horrible and you have to pay $10 a night. The lobby was nice, they looked like they tried to make it better and TWO elevators worked this time instead of 1 out of 4. The rooms weren't too bad. Nothing creepy or crawly but the beds were stiff as a rock. The remote for the Sleep Number bed didn't work. The surrounding place is a little bad but no gunshots or ambulances were heard. All in all, if you don't want to spend money I would choose this but if you can afford something better..DO IT!! Lol

Elevators worked as of 9/14 (enough to where I didn't even think about it...I didn't check reviews prior to booking). The hotel was very clean and well kept, including my room.I showed up at 10:30AM....hours before check-in. I was exhausted and had just spent the past 24hrs traveling and dealing with cancelled flights. I was probably not the most pleasant person to deal with. That said, the customer service here (unfortunately I forgot the woman's name who helped me) was great. She was very accommodating to my shameless request to check in early and sleep. There were no rooms available at the time, but she offered to place my bags behind the counter and give me a ticket to retrieve them later and directed me to some shops down the street to hang out for an hour or so, she said she once a room was clean and ready to go, she would be happy to let me in early.I show up after grabbing a bite and the manager is now there. She says my room is still not clean, but no worries -- she'll upgrade me so I can get some rest.I get up to my room and i'm in a suite. Slept great.A+ for transforming my expectations of a run of the mill stay at a hotel to creating an awesome experience. This isn't a luxury hotel, that much is definitely true. But one thing you can't complain about is the customer service...they are not only "kind" but they're looking for novel ways to make sure your stay is as best as possible...If you're looking for a clean room with genuine, kind hospitality. I'd say this place is worth your $$.Air conditioners are louder than average if that's an issue for you....but it's white noise not random rumbling or anything. Yeah...the room quality and furniture isn't the most modern....but when you just need a room to get a good night sleep before a big day, this will work and was one of the cheaper options in the area. Dealing with pleasant people puts you in a good place before a big day.

Very affordable through Priceline.com. Very clean. Wonderful sleep number bed. Attractive rooms. The staff were very friendly. The valet service was excellent. Had gotten poison ivy, in wonderful MD, ahem .....Took benedrill (sp?), fell asleep. Woke up at 3:00 am, hungry as he'll. Called the desk to bring around my car when I arrived at the front desk the attendant gave me a big smile and said, "good morningMr. Heard. Dry safely now and I'll be waiting right here when you return". Damn that place has SERVICE.

This has to be the most dilapidated hotel I have ever stayed in. From the moment I arrived you can tell where most of their budget and upkeep is focused. The lobby makes it appear that it's a luxurious up to date hotel. The staff are cold and unprofessional. Most hotel require staffed personnel wear a uniform. One of the hotel employees I saw was wearing a jacket because the lobby didn't have any heat. No one helped me with my luggage upon arriving and I was obviously struggling with it. When I finally got to the room I immediately notice the paint coming loose from the ceiling. The house keepers talked very loudly and had no respect for the people sleeping in the rooms. Even when I put the do not disturb sign they still knocked on the door loudly and rudely. They need to be fired. The TV did not work for most of the channels. Certain buttons did not work on the remote. The sleep number bed did not work at all. And if that wasn't enough the water from the shower head was coming out brown! The refrigerator was leaking due to a poor seal on the door and it took management 3 days to fix it! During my stay the fire alarm went off 4 times. One of those times were 3 o'clock in the morning. None of those alarms weren't even for a dam fire! When I was prompted by the hotel guest services to walk downstairs during the alarms I was greeted by unprofessional staff that screwed me away when I asked about the cause of the fire. Also at the black tuna bar their was this lady that was extremely sarcastic when I asked her where I can plug in to charge my phone. I'm not sure who she is but she is a white lady about 5' 9' kind of heavy set brown hair. The only good thing was the weekend breakfast buffet which was awesome! Sean the guy who ran the buffet was a true professional and treated me very nicely. Give that man a raise!! I haven't stayed at a lot of hotels in Norfolk but I have slept in my fair share while traveling in and out and I must say this has to be and I am so certain that it is the worst of the worst hotel in the. Norfolk area. The staff needs to be fired, the building needs renovation and a complete makeover and modernization is desperately in need. Anyone wanting to stay here might as well take all their money, find a toilet and flush it. I should have asked for my money back. I will never, never come back here again unless I am in a desperate need not to get any sleep. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. IT WILL BE A TOTAL WASTE OF YOUR MONEY!!!!!

Travelled from DC to Norfolk to catch a show at the Scope Arena, and LOVED that this Crowne Plaza was literally across the street from the venue. Here's the jist of my one-night stay there: PROS:- The moderness of the hotel's lobby and restaurant areas were really nice... real swanky. - The room was clean, and very well prepared.- I was able to book a "double-king" room, something all hotels should offer.CONS:- You have to pay to park on the lot. I thought this was ridiculous. Valet service is optional and at a greater expense, of course, but having to pay to park on the parking lot is certainly a ripoff, especially considering you're not allowed to park on the street surrounding the hotel.- Checkin is at 4pm, immediately after taking our bags up to the room we went back down to have something to eat at the restaurant. There wasn't a host/hostess available to seat us. The restaurant appeared closed, however we heard tvs and people conversing just beyond the restaurant seating area - there's a bar with seating. Again, no one greeted us, so we just sat anywhere. Took forever for the bartender to show, but she did acknowledge us right away and took our orders.- The hallway on our floor was extremely stuffy. No air circulation at all. And although I didn't have to spend much time in the hallway, as soon as I stepped-off the elevator, or walked out of my room, the hallways temperature was uncomfortable.- The air conditioning unit installed below the window did not cool the room - the actual air conditioning feature didn't work. We were only able to use the "fan" feature. And if this wasn't bad enough, the air that came out of it was funky. You can smell the mold, a clear indication that the filter hadn't been changed or cleaned in a long time. Thankfully I was only there for an overnight stay, otherwise I would've requested another room, because it was just that bad.- The biggest disappointment of all... the huge dual-feature shower head had NO pressure whatsoever! This sucked BIG TIME. More water comes out of a water hose, than what came out of the shower head. And upon using the shower before checking-out, the pressure got lower and lower, until it literally just dripped... mind you, I'm standing in the shower covered in soap, and there was no water coming from the showerhead. I turned the shower off, waited a few seconds, turned it back on, and it returned to it's ridiculously low pressure again.
